I recently bought the Larue Tactical 556 rifle. It is very impressive. The quality is unbelievable, and it shoots like a dream. Better than any other AR I have fired.

Give it 5 minutes and you'll have heat soaking through the metal into the handguard. You'll also have convection into the handguard so it'll warm up a little bit more. It'll be interesting to see how well the handguard radiates heat after it's been warmed up.
