I cant listen to this sometimes without crying and then when tmz showed that she had died it got even worser. She basically was another phyllis hyman never got the reconigion that she deserved and they can sang not sing but sang and died in a horrible way. Well shes in gods arms now and i wish the best for her and her family! Forever vesta!

I was so shocked I had to look and see for myself. No one ever talked about her death, and I watch a lot of TV. It is a great loss that she is gone, and I loved this song & can relate. It reflects on the life of various black artists who weren't so well recognized, hence why the show is called Unsung. Tomorrow, there's supposed to be an Unsung documentary on Vesta Williams.

It saddens me, that yet another, truly underrated, but extrememly talented r&b vocalist, decided to succomb to an untimely death, due to drug dependency. Like Phyllis, Vesta's talents were shamefully overlooked, by an industry which once gave us powerful giants such as Ella, Sarah and Aretha. Instead, they have lowered their standards, and are only interested in glorifying, marginally talented, poorly dressed female vocalist such as Rihanna, Beyonce and Ciara, who are survivng on their images!

Of course, Whitney & Michael overshadowed everyone else whose living or dead. I only know that Vesta lost a lot of weight and has had prescription meds. Not sure exactly how & if it affected her health. Yes, her music will linger too & she will be missed.

Like when they do the Tribute shows singers like CHaka Khan love her she just had a tribute show I think it was last year but look at her success, they have their picks.Now noone play or had Whitney on any awards show to just sing or nothing but now the world has brought all her record

@Change2be1 You can probably add Gladys Knight to the list of women who didn't get proper recognition(a.k.a her "props"). It seems Motown crapped on her a long time by not including her in any "diva" get togethers or lifetime achievement ceremonies. Don't recall BET doing anything in prior years. Maybe she had enough class and character to stand up for herself. Maybe she pissed someone off by spurning any unwanted advances. Hey Patti LaBelle can be added to that group of folks too.

Wow! I am so sad my friend Vesta is gone! I am the kid in the church sitting next to her friend who turns around. Yeah...with the El Debarge mullet! lol. It saddens me, that yet another, truly underrated, but extrememly talented r&b vocalist, decided to succomb to an untimely death, due to drug dependency. Like Phyllis, Vesta's talents were shamefully overlooked, by an industry which once gave us powerful giants such as Ella, Sarah and Aretha. Instead, they have lowered their standards, and are only interested in glorifying, marginally talented, poorly dressed female vocalist such as Rihanna, Beyonce and Ciara, who are survivng on their images!
