Actions speak louder than pretty speeches and it's clear obama showed no follow up leadership in regards to the letter he wrote. Guess fannie mae's money was just soooooo green.
Obama, during his four-year tenure in Chicago as a community organizer, worked as a trainer for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now — the infamous ACORN, whose affiliate, Project Vote, is known for voter fraud — the same ACORN from which a mighty mortgage mess has grown.
ACORN, which bills itself as the nations largest community organization for the rights of low- and moderate-income families. Its hidden agenda, however, is to change the form of the U.S. government from a republic to a socialist oligarchy, using class warfare and the aid of radical liberals within the Democrat Party. This hidden agenda explains why the liberal newsmedia go mute on Obamas ACORN ties.
Money flows in to ACORN coffers from the federal government and from such foundations as Heinz, Annie E. Casey, Open Society Institute, Ben and Jerrys, as well as from the Woods Foundation and the Joyce Foundation, on whose boards Obama sat in Chicago.
ACORN, as a private organization, is not required to publicize its activities, donors, expenditures, members, or myriad of front organizations. ACORN is a membership organization with an estimated 175,000 member families in the United States and up to 500,000 member families worldwide paying at least $120 per year. With a budget of $100 million or more, ACORN employs about a thousand people.
Ive been fighting alongside ACORN on issues you care about my entire career. Even before I was an elected official, when I ran Project Vote voter registration drive in Illinois, ACORN was smack dab in the middle of it, and we appreciate your work. — Barack Obama, Speech to ACORN, November 2007
Yes, but now he plays word games, and says he was never employed by ACORN. He worked for free. He says ACORN is not part of Project Vote. Thats true, but, Project Vote is part of ACORN. This is like saying "I am not my mother's father, therefore we are not related".
I think you mean that Obama gave $800,000 to a branch of ACORN. He even tried to cover it up by claiming it was for staging, lighting and sound services on the campaign's FEC filing.
The reason Obama can't "seal the deal" is that rational people do not trust him. As his own VP pick said at his debate, "Past is prologue." And so it is. What you have done in the past is a window into the future. Obama talks a good game, but many do not believe his promises because they bear no resemblance to his track record.
What it reminds me of is the way of PLO terrorist Yasir Arafat during the Oslo Accords (re: Israel/Palestinians), when Arafat agreed the PLO would recognize Israel's right to exist in peace and security, *but* to do so would require having a PLO legislative body ratify such a position, and instead of having that done, Arafat (knowing this carried zero weight) sent a letter to Rabin saying the PLO recognized Israel. Like Obama, Arafat could then claim both to have been for it and against it.
