In the UK, all we ever hear about is deficit and no one seems to care. Well it's time we started to care and understand what that actually means; debt and eventually bankruptcy.
See my youtube video: 'I demand more government spending cuts now. The Socialists are putting out severe misinformation.'
March 26th 2011 at Victoria Embankment, the tuc are expecting 1 million protesters to turn up to march against public sector cuts, lets double that number! spread the word. Search for March For The Alternative on facebook
@WhollyMowly I take it you're implying that the members of the public who went on the protest on the 26th are unemployed, which would make more sense if it wasn't a TUC organised protest (group of trade union leaders) since trade unions are groups of workers. Bloody Ignorant Tories.
I believe that people will be quite surprised how the deficit will "melt" away. It will not be "all singing and dancing" as it happens but there is so much fat to remove, as this video shows, before we reach the economic "muscle" and by that time the savings should have been so much greater than has been mooted that I don't think it will be necessary to cut into the muscle so cheer up everyone.
the problem with cutting government jobs: massive severance packages and pensions cost money regardless if they are employed or not. Most government employees would blow the severence package in less then 1 year and never find employment in a real job again.
Great video. Lets hope all those 'Diversity Managers' and 'Climate Change Coordinators' will soon be seeking real jobs in the wealth generating private sector. Given their experience and qualifications I suggest 'supermarket trolley collection assistant' or maybe as 'assistant refuse collection operative'.
Gardeners know a late frost can kill off early growth. It is the same in the first days of an economic upturn.Tories claim the proposed Labour rises in N I contributions will cost upwards of 57,000 jobs? They made similar claims about the minimum wage, they were wrong then and wrong now. Tory alternative is to raise VAT much higher than Labour might do it will serve to clobber the low paid.
Nothing fixes a thing so intensely in memory as the wish to forget it! we ain't forgotten the Tories
All this stuff about 'non-jobs' is disingenuous wishful thinking. Those who want big cuts should be honest with the public about the consequences - like free market thinktank Reform, for example:
" the deficit cannot be sufficiently reduced without tackling the front line ... Contrary to popular perception, the great majority of the public sector workforce are front line workers."

@UKIndependent Absolutely. I propose a single flat tax at 33%. This would take 4.5 million lower-paid workers out of the income tax system altogether, and enable us to compete internationally.
Yes, there are plenty of 'non-jobs' and it is a deplorable situation, but cutting them also poses a dilemma: where else do these people go? Creating 'real' jobs must be tough, that's why we're in this mess. The jobs are fake but there are real families dependent on the income they provide. Do they just go on the dole? We can all say 'make real jobs' but how exactly when we don't manufacture anymore etc?
If these people are on the dole, they're less likely to be making donations to Unison or the Labour party and screwing the rest of us over, which can only be a good thing.
There are far too many created jobsworths around, and it's costing us far too much. Does everyone realise that £1 in every £5 on your council tax goes to pay council pensions? I'm living in mine.
Not really sure that this vid gets the message across, though.
I find it interesting that so maby posting here thinks these non jobs are a good thing. I am sick of paying for this garbage; the whole public sector spending needs going through line by line deleting everything not necessary. If u want other services u can pay for them!
this is what needs to happen - the government needs to cut stupid jobs that are ridiculously overpaid. this way the deadwood will be removed and tap payers will get a better and perhaps in years to come lower bills.
It always seems those that have vital posts face the cuts and those with pointless jobs are always kept. It would be great if there was a pollitical party i could vote for next ellection that would make a difference, but there as bad as each other.

What a load of Conservative nonsense. Whilst I appreciate there are some jobs in the public sector that carry little meaning in the real world. The message in this ad represents a huge step backwards for society.
So protecting the environment is a waste of money? Because jobs involving fighting climate change were mentioned a lot. In my opinion, the cuts need to be made by improving management, the waste that is produced by the NHS is unbelievable. There's more admin than beds in some hospitals.
Yea, Exactly marzto, I'm saying many of those "non-jobs" might be non jobs to people with no awareness of what they are meant to achieve. No doubt there are areas that require vast improvements in efficiency, effectiveness and economy but I honestly don't see many of them listed in this remixed ad. I'm just sayin...
Relevant to whom? Not the average taxpayer funding the whole sick joke.
The problem is we have the choice between Tory boys stuffing their pockets and keeping their buddies rich, or New Liebour and their cronies bathing in the hot jet of money streaming out of the public sector gravy train. Both are corrupt, and both are intent on enriching their own at our expense.
Labour is responsible for these non-jobs because 1 - It gives the illusion of low unemployment and 2 - Public sector workers are government employees, which is to say, Labour employees. Their wages come out of our taxes. The higher their wages, the higher our taxes.
If i immgrate to say thailand i would expect their Buddhist culture and change my ways i wouldnt try to build a church there or set up Sharia courts like muslims are doing in this country, You go to a diffrent country and are welcomed as a guest you dont try any bullshit and their is no political correctness.
The problem though is that for every 'diversity coordinator' there are many, many teachers, nurses, firemen etc. Cutting a few loony PC jobs might be gratifying, but it won't address the deficit.
I know someone in my local council who is a full time cycling promotion manager. What he does is visit other public sector workers and gives them a course (in work time) on how they could cycle to work. Salary? £36,000 pa.
The reality of the original Unison video comes from the direct experience of public service workers who are experiencing these cuts to your public services now.
The myths being put about my the Tory media and pressure groups are simply not true. Many of the "job titles" in the TPA's advert are made up; and just because you don't understand what a job does doesn't make it a waste of money.
