He was very angry. He accept that suicidal mission to save his best friend Yuri Gagarin, because he was his replacement. Yuri Gagarin was the first Man in orbit.

MGS 3 was the best game,imo. The boss battles and gameplay was smoother and I actually felt the emotions throughout the game. I was actually sad The Fury died. MGS 4 was ok..MGS 3 still better.

The Fury - Turn up your sound, use the Direct Mic, and pop some holes in his helmet with the SVD

The Boss - Save your LIFE MED, and head straight in. She's kinda like Volgin, so you can shoot her while she's on the ground

The Cobras were formed in World War Two long before the space program even started; so whyever he's angry, it's nothing to do with his time in space. He was already The Fury when he went up there; but when his ship heated up during reentry and the flames made it look like the Earth was burning he must have liked the idea. I have no doubt that he was probably another one they had sent. one more thing, radiation burns... so he was probably burning the entire time, which is why he feels everything burning. his name is the fury because its the emotion he brings into battle... that is all

Fighting The Fury is pretty odd. Sometimes it's quite easy to beat him and sometimes you could sit there for hours going totally mad about simply not being able to finish that bastard off!

When the fury got caught up in flames in his re-entry to the atmosphere, he "saw" the world in flames (because of the fire all around him and his ship). This probably caused him a severe Post Traumatic Stress Disorder that manifested as an obsesion to actually see the world burn, this turned in to pyromaniac tendencies.

Because the fire burned most of his nerves he's basically unable to feel pain.

The weirdest thing about the Fury was that the game was set in 1964. The first cosmonaut to successfully enter space was Yuri Gagarin in 1961, between then and 1964 there were another 8 or 9 cosmonauts.

But the Cobra unit had been around for some years and its members were never mentioned as being new, which means logically The Fury IS YURI GAGARIN!
