Hey Hank if you see this HELLO, I hope you're doing well! From your friend who's now down South, Peter LeDrew. Just great to hear this song and see you again! All the best to you my friend!
Oh for the days of old. The Paddle Wheeler played an instrumental role in the making of the Klondike and many parts of Canada the great place it is. It is too bad that they can't bring back these fine ships if for no other reason than just summer travel. I think it would be a popular and cheap alternative to other modes of transportation. At least they would be a great tourist attraction!

@PeterNGloor hello !!! its been a year or so since I , have checked in here.. But , I am sure that you can get a copy of , Hanks , PADDLE WHEELER , FROM HIS SITE , or from MAC'S BOOK STORE ON MAIN STREET , WHITEHORSE Y.T. Sorry , too far away from home to give the ZIP CODE , BUT JUST GOOGLE !! :)) All my Best , Nahanni
Hi. Thanks a lot. Meantime I have not only been able to mailorder a copy but also to visit Whitehorse and the store you mention. I wish I could come back soon. The Yukon is such a contrast to our hectic city life here in Europe.
A shame the Yukoners have never tried to build a steel boat replica to old plans, to let the many tourists from all over the world relive the golden age. Wooden boats like the original ones will not last, though. Look to Switzerland:
Scores of proud all-steel steam powered sidewheelers dating back to up to 108 years ago still take visitors on excursions or locals on scheduled service on many lakes there.
I'm so happy to find this. We listened to Hank Karr in Prince Rupert before he ever recorded anything. He had us as an enthralled audience in La Golonda where he was working as a waiter at the time. We had his first LP, now lost. Thanks for posting this. His voice is golden.
I live in Whitehorse and i am Proud that my great grandfather coordinated and help move the SS Klondike from ship yards park to where is now.
