I DONT FUCKING GET IT. Everyone SHITS on Yes's material after Close to the Edge because of a GRADUAL Line up change... yet when King Crimson completely changes fucking members and sound nobody calls their later stuff shit!!
@cageofman Just keep in mind King Crimson not only constantly changed members (Robert Fripp was the only constant) but also completely changed their sound. This is NOT what King Crimson 1969 sounded like! :) Start with their first album and work your way through their entire discography - they are really worth it.
i don't get this era of KC. i mean composition is maybe good but even hard to tell when you get such a weird production and manner of performing. but i just don't like reverb ;) and there is really a lot of that. messy stuff. but not in a crazy-messy or complicated-messy way that would appeal to me. just sounding mess-messy ;p to me ofc.
if anyone would like to try to answer what he or she likes about this album, i'll be thankful. (i mean a bit of analysis of own opinion not just praising ;])
still used by Rage/JJJ this is one of my "Perfect" pop songs....ps sounds BEST on the vinyl press...trust me i have it on all media m50, and the video clip is shit they could have done a LOT better for such an impotant song
michael manring is number one in my book. genius. and i can get what your saying but he still has a sound thats all his own. but the first 3 primus albums are simply amazing. that was when his strength as a bass player was exploding through the roof.

Brilliant album, my favourite King Crimson music, especially Dig Me, Man With An Open Heart and Three Of....
Lyrically sublime, immaculately performed and composed.
Great production, so unlike any other bands I can think of.
Fripp never throws a stright ball. Ever.
This is why he is respected, he is unpredictable yet entirely listenable.
There must be a queue of musicians waiting to play with him.
The Andy Summers collaboration I Advance Masked is a case in point. That was a superb album too.

Yep - best of bests / creme de la creme ...
... next comes marcus miller
But for crim-heads like me JOHN WETTON's crucial bass play is irreplacable!
CrimsonKing63 5 months ago
@CrimsonKing63 Well for Crim-heads like me, Trey Gunn was better at playing bass for King Crimson than any of his predecessors.

Let's not forget on The Bassist's Apocalypse:
Steve Harris;
Les Claypool;
John Paul Jones;
Roger Glover.
And trust me there are more with these elite skills on the 4-String.

Some phenominal musicians you got their, especially Steve and Les, Iron Maiden and Primus are 2 of my favourite bands.
