  • Because of the HAL sequence, I'll never ever sleep in space again hehe

  • I'm lovin' it!

  • Hey this is a great idea. Almost everyone (myself included) likes to just sync up techno songs to the last 10 minutes of the movie but you actually took your own initiative. I salute your approach

  • Cheers for the comment - it was done whilst at music college where they encouraged electroacoustic experimental stuff so i came up with it, then thought `ah I can add some video` to spice it up. It`s not the kind of thing you can do everyday but was good fun getting it as uncomfortable as possible!

  • i love the electroacoustic approach, what was the name of the school you attended? i wish i could go to an electronic music school so bad, maybe ill join the army or something so theyll pay for it lol

  • i went to the welsh college of music & drama in cardiff UK, did most of this piece on home equipment which was pretty basic (466 pc, software off a magazine etc.) some sounds effected using metasynth which was on a college MAC, but all do-able at home these days.

Fun but expensive so i`d agree with your plan of getting someone else to pay! plenty of courses around but most are engineering based & not so concerned with the tunes. now i`m a poor musician but its all good.

  • engineering classes would be great because my main problem with learning music is that i just want to play around and i never teach myself any music theory without the pressure of an instructor.. could i get more info on what vst plugins & software you used?

  • a bit of theory is all you need in my opinion, but u could argue it helps to know as much as possible to give yourself options.

tricky to remember!i used sound forge (v.4?) to manipulate most sounds with its fx, using cumalative processing (one process then another..)to see what u get and get odd results.metasynth on mac to create the choiry type sounds (@4min in). samples from film were manipulated in same way, [see other new reply out of space!]

  • [continued from below] - then all those `ingredients` were arranged/mixed in a multitrack sequencer (it was a free version) the same as all the ones around.some extra bit of effects in SF to the final mix. all audio no midi facility at the time! all quite basic but its what u do not what u do it with!

  • pretty trippy. check out my videos we both try too make a certain environmental feel i think.

  • I Really enjoyed the Unsettling Experience !

Make some More in Future and Keep up the Great Work

  • Cheers v.much mr. R Room, glad you appreciate the efforts - haven`t done much electroacoustic type stuff recently, but no doubt will again soon enough. this makes a change from someone sticking `floyd or some other music over the top for effect i feel.

i see you`re a Kubrick fan, he does good films - proper cinema as i`d call it...

    cheers !

    Ben

  • No Problem Friend. Hope you keep up the Good Work

  • What's the name of the music at the bit were the astronauts are killed?
