Attaching the phrase "new deal" to Hoover's policies (already 2 years into his term) does not somehow magically give him credit for Roosevelt's positions, tenuous public works link notwithstanding. In the 2nd half of his term Hoover was much like the neo-liberals of today. And his 'volunteerism' was corporatism, not progressivism or socialism, despite what he himself claimed.
Nice try. Yes everybody got it wrong. Hoover just misunderstood. He was a genius, like your George Bush, Dick Cheney, Rick perry, Sara Palin, Herman Cain.., Hoover was just "quoted out of context".
So trying to correct a blantant misrepresentation of American history makes me a supporter of Bush, Cheney, or Palin? Explain that logic to me as it makes no sense.
Hoover wasn't "quoted out of context", he is portrayed by many as a supporter of 'laissez faire' when it is clear in the historical record that his policies and official position were far from it.
Rachel Maddow, Chris Hayes, and most MSNBC night opinion heads have only one purpose. Their aim is to influence the attitude of a community toward some cause so as to benefit a Left Wing and Socialist ideology. Their bias facts selectively presented, or lying by omission, is to encourage a particular emotional rather than rational response to the information presented.
Please see the link in the description for more historical information. The *facts* disagree with the "high school" version of the history in regard to Hoover and the Great Depression. He was far from the caricature he is made out to be in textbooks and by Maddow, and it's sad that anyone actually believes in it when most historians will tell you point blank that it is wrong.
As for the quote, it speaks volumes that Hoover would say this if he was really 'laissez faire'.
Rachel Maddow is an idiot. No wonder why conservatives and libertarians get blamed more than liberals, t's because liberals are stupid idiots that don't get it.

Sure, but one can make a strong argument that FDR's New Deal was also corporatistic in nature, as many historians have claimed.

Why not look at the facts instead of just Hoover's version of them?
