While Eve remains the most visually impressive MMO, the truth of the matter is if you don't zoom out to max view when in Fleet battles the lag(already terrible as is) will become impossible to manage during the conflict.

It's the reason every video is little more than blue/purple squares vs red ones. Believe me when involved in engagements you don't even look at the screen. You pretty much stare at your overview and listen to your FC yelling at you. Great fun, but not for everyone!!!!

Yup, it prevents ships from warping within itself, and drags everything that's warp line crosses the bubble toward it.

Yes but it's a game of patience. It takes weeks before you can build the skills to do anything fun. There is a steep learning curve at first but everything is fairly intuitive after. The good thing is that skills train in realtime even if you're not logged on so there is no grinding.

The "Lighting Shields" are warp disruptor bubbles. Anyone inside that bubble cannot warp out. Lots of actions were happening and it's too long to fully explain. But basically it was mostly combat and alot of lost ships.
