Required for all persons taking sturgeon, including persons who are not required to have a sport fishing license, such as persons who are under 16 years of age, persons who are fishing from a public pier and persons who are fishing on free fishing days. Only one Sturgeon Fishing Report Card may be issued per person each year.
Haha I like your description. Yep, have to stock up on them! Keep the videos coming so I can watch them. Most of the lakes where I am at...the season is over :(. I have to wait until late December to mid February to hit the best season at Belmont lake for Largemouth bass. Caught about 150 a day, hopefully this year is just as good if the continue to run the Dam with warm water.
@ adamitshelanu: Yeah i agree that winter fishing is tough, although some places are year round. I was skunked this morning without live nightcrawlers. There were many redbreast sunfish and bluegills though. It was about 30-35 degrees this morning. Remember stay warm Uncle Steve, lots of folks here in Charlotte, NC been catching a cold, like me :(
@NomkuThoj Live nightcrawlers ... that's my worry. The local Walmarts are out and not restocking that I can see. Tomorrow I'm going to call a shop near Falls Lake to see if they have any. If yes, I'll go up and buy them out! :^)
BTW I had my flu shot ... and I don't kiss anyone in Winter.
The fish isn't biting that good here where I live either. I tried worms, minnows and wax worms yesterday and couldn't get a bite. I think a lot of it has to do with that big cold front that went through a couple days ago.
I was at that section of crabtree yesterday and the current made it almost unfishable. Lost two lures and a float too. I couldn't see any of the downed trees I would normally fish around but I did find them with lures, and they decided to stay. I did catch two sunfish though, so didn't get skunked but water conditions made it very hard to fish.
@lsdmt I'm sure that is the case. :^) The Ebenezer Church USGS stream gauge indicates the creek rose over 2 feet from the overnight rain. Based on the decay slope, it will be another two days before it gets back to "normal."
Yesterday I was on creek below the lake and it was high and flowing fast ... the bream were hugging the rocks on the far side. No catfish sighted.
It's kind of fun to try to correlate stream gauge data with fishing conditions.
How are the weather , light, and temperature in the winter interfering with or influencing the fishing? I've never fished in late fall or winter, even though I spent winters in NC.
@rubadux Uncle Steve has been fishing and video'ing continuously, though it has required extended scouting to find where the fish are still active. We are going through another episode of night temperatures going below freezing, which persuades some bank-fishing-accessible fish to nod off. But then it warms up and some of the fish "come back" surprisingly strong.
Keep an eye on the fishing dates as uploads continue to appear through the Winter. Shortest day for light is ahead around Dec. 21.

@NomkuThoj I enjoy it, but several of us locals agree that it is tough going ... and probably will continue to be ... when it REALLY gets cold.
How about where you are?

About the lures: C'est la vie!
