  • OTO biscuit. 'Nuff said.

  • I think it sounds great.

  • these things are really cool, but WAYYYYY too goddamn expensive now. saw one on ebay for $675.. that's just fuckin retarded

  • thanjks

  • Wow a whole track right there. Instant mixing from planet X

  • oh yesss! this baby is what I need for live act... anyone in hungary selling it? :D

  • Listen to industrial bands like Nine Inch Nails and you'll see why effects like these are so sought after.

  • Asking if the bit crushing sounds a bit....sh*t is sort of like asking, Don't Pollock's abstract paintings look like sh*t? Yes, to some. Others pay millions.

The Sonic Alienator is not pleasing to everyone, but it is used by some very successful artists (one already mentioned). If you do not like the sound, you can always listen to Don McLean singing Vincent. Of course you may not agree with the lyrics in Vincent because Van Gogh painted images that not everyone apppreciated either.

  • True dat - Michaelangelo was a big fan of valve distortion so it just goes to show

  • @bigcitymusic Well put. Totally agreed.

  • Ready?.....Fight!

Frostwave sh!t is great. I have this and the Funk A Duck, and the spacebeam-which I use to control my analogue synths! Go Frostwave

  • You are both correct!

The lowpass filter is analog. The bit-crushing uses digital technology.

  • there's a million boxes like this that pretty much produce the same sound....slightly different interfaces...

hell, Ableton live does the whole lot in one simply easy package....

  • yeah, find me another bitcrusher with an analog filter. you wont. also, why have effects at all when ableton can do it? oh, that's right, because when i pay money to see a show and it's some geek fucking around on his laptop, i want to hook his or her dumb ass off the stage post-haste.

  • weadapt, I use Ableton.... I don't use a mouse or have to click anything on my laptop though? you're just paying for it to be in a hardware box these days....

    "Comment removed by author"

    And replaced by Naitsirk.

"this is the dumbest thing i've read in a long time and almost doesn't deserve a response. clicking away on a laptop isnt musicianship, as much as you'd like to think it does."

I'm afraid I have to disagree mate.... especially when the majority of music ends up passing through microchips.... you clearly ain't down with the technology... I love boxes like this, I also like having all of it in my lappy!

  • Ohh, and as for "find me another bitcrusher with an analog filter"

Ableton again my friend. :-) ohh, I forgot to add .... Ableton gives you as many instances as you want..... ha ha, how many do you want?

  • pps..... why are you so bothered about an analog filter when this box is as digital as it gets?

  • for one, there isnt a voltage controlled oscillator anywhere inside your or anyone else's computer, you dingleberry. it's a digital in there. that said, your computer and thusly ableton doesn't have an analog filter in it. analog sounding, maybe. for two, this box is all analog. all frostwave shit is. the company is FROSTWAVE ANALOGUE. jesus christ, do some research.

  • weadapt, you're the one who needs to do your research, I'm just winding you up with drivel.... however.... quote you... "it's a digital in there" ...bwaa ha ha.... what's 'a digital' when it's at home...

plus... where do you suppose 'bit crushing' comes in within the analog domain clever tits? :p

  • Quote weadapt: "this box is all analog"

Meanwhile the 'sample rate' button used at 1:21 knows a different story.... :p

  • ouch, my ears.... :(

    really poor sound

  • Aside from the sherman filterbank and Geiger Counter what are some other alternatives since they no longer make this?

Just want to weigh my options :D

  • alesis bittrman ... also out of production.

  • I wish they still made these!

  • Check out the WMD Geiger Counter. It's a nice alternative.

  • Yeah that is my 2nd priority gear right now, after the Sherman :D

  • I feel like a dork that this is the first time I'm seeing this device....I feel almost as out of it as I did the day I first saw a kaos pad imbedded in a guitar.....doh!

  • HAH you're so ansy to turn the knob again

by the end of it you barely take your hand off

  • hmm

  • thanks fer the ''in-depth-Twerk'in'' Demo!-How do yall Guys Sleep? ;>

  • Glad you enjoyed it!

I don't know about the rest of the guys here, but I generally sleep with a Moog System 15 modular playing random notes into a speaker under my pillow. ;-)
