  • What does the symbol on your shirt and arm mean?

  • The Finnish flag is ironic. Finland is not a nordic country. In regards to pagan religions, Finnish paganism is seperate from Norse paganism.

  • @Wanderer359 I'm half and half :p

  • @Wanderer359 I have Estonian ancestry and have accepted Asatru as my religion many years ago. To say Finland is not a Nordic country is silly. Finland and Estonia share just as much bond with modern day Asatru as any of the other Scandinavian countries as well as having similar cultures. Just because their gods and goddesses were know in the Finno-Ugric languages and not Germanic does not make us any less. The equivalents of Ukko or Taara is THOR.

  • really bad audio

  • @dg63641 Thanks. Glad for your input on my laptop recording from over 2 years ago.

  • Like the tat, and the bind rune, but cant hear a word your saying, the music was fine , but cant hear you.

  • I was born in a Christian home, Anglican to be exact. But after finding out about Asatru I changed my religion. Now im finding more about it so I can practice and worship in Asatru.

  • @Lesson69PAC I agree with you, I had the same circumstance. I was born into a christian family, but I always felt like something was wrong. When i found out my ancestors came from Scotland, Ireland, Norway, Scandinavia (northern European area), I started looking into the past. I found Asatru and fell in love with it. I have been a proud Asatruar for about 2-3 years now. Hail Lesson69PAC =D

  • Thats rights i must of have had to much meade

  • @91JohnMark no it's the flag or Norway

  • @WolfTheAtheist

Naw, he had it, it's Finland. Norway is Red with a blue cross outlined in white.

  • Random question, but what is the flag with the Blue cross behind you? Is it the flag of Finland?

  • Thank you from Oregon the truth will set our people free from the chains of Israel for ever!!!!14/88

  • You people are morons.. Odinism/Asatru are not racist religions.

I just kicked the crap out of a skinhead for wearing thors hammer and if i see other racists wear these runes and symbols ill do it again... I love being white and living in a white town but it pisses me off when punks lay claim to something that isn't theirs.

Be rasicts and hate all you want, But leave this stuff out of it.

  • @TheJamesDempsey Bitch, fuck you! Take off the wolf t-shirt, put down the cheetohs and quit talking your shit, internet tough-guy! I'm a racist, nigger-HATING Odinist PROUD WHITE MAN. Get in my face I'll slap your nigger-loving fat-ass down. What a punk!

  • @methistopholes You sound pathetic right now.

  • @TheJamesDempsey I had to beat the Hell out of one before as well. He was not only wearing the Mjölnir, but was pandering "Nordic" material claiming it as "the white man's faith." Growing up in a family that was about 89% Ásatrú (the remainder are Christian), it offends me that people spend time perverting this glorious faith! I wish they would make up their own religion and leave others out of it!

  • i want to rais my kids to be asatru, but i need to learn all i can before i have them 0.0

  • Looks like you need to start hitting the gym man, gotta have that viking physique!

  • PAJAMA PANTS AREN'T VERY VIKING! C'MON GUY

  • can you tell me what is the relationship bettween asatru and the celtic paganism?

  • Need some help of you in this moment !

  • @verniciousknidful Considering I have correct runic spellings tattooed on myself, AND have taken courses on old and proto norse at university, I think it's safe to say I know the difference between thorn, edh and regular old T ;) May you be hail!

  • Is that a finnish flag in the background?

  • I was interested in Asatru, but then I found out about theri views on race. and that turned me off.

  • @francoferret Very few Asatruar are racists. It's possible to take pride in your own racial and cultural heritage without wanting to put others down.

  • @Oswulf1 What these new heathens need to recognize is that our people and heritage is in danger of being completely wiped out. It's obvious, look around. Call me racist but I wish to protect my people.

  • @TheBlackOnWhiteCrime Right on.

  • @Oswulf1 I don't put others "down" but when they are invading our countries every day, it's hard not to.

  • @francoferret . Despite what you've been taught in school, it is NOT a "bad" thing to be racially aware.

  • @TheBlackOnWhiteCrime

What does that even mean? Once can be aware of racial differences in the masses, it's simple demographics.

  • Happy Winter Nights my friend, hail the desir, hail frejya, and hail the gods

  • It is good to hear from another of the faith. Hail from Arizona friend!

  • Why does the first ansuz rune in asatru look different?

  • @Thunderer18 Bostonheathen used an Anglo-Saxon rune there. It's actually the 'Os' rune, which stands for long 'o'. Ancient Germanic 'ansuz' (=old Norse 'as') comes out in Old English as 'os'. But 'Asatru' would come out as 'Esatreowe' or 'OEsatreowe' (with the sound mutation the Germans call Umlaut), and it would properly be spelt with the 'Othala' rune (the one he's got tattooed on his shoulder).

  • Hey, nice vid!

But one thing at the beginning... you spelled heathen in rune letters and you spelled the t and the h with Tiwaz and ´Hagalaz, but there exists a rune for the phoneme th = Thurisaz. ;D

    Heil from Germany

  • @Beerholm I know, I did it on purpose hahaha. I'm unfortunately afflicted with obsessive compulsive disorder, and having a different amount of letters was seriously bothering me, haha. Good eye though!

  • @BostonHeathen Yeah, I know what you mean... I feel the same!^^ But in my opinion Thurisaz is a very powerfull rune and I think that it is a pity that it is so rarely seen in written form (as a letter) because most people use this Tiwaz-Hagalaz combination.^^

But anyway, your thoughts inspire me! (:

  • @Beerholm Thanks alot! That's really nice to hear!

And if I was writing it "correctly" you would actually use the Dagaz rune, because in old germanic languages, there were two "th" sounds. one of them was the hard "th" as in "thing" which was the Thurisaz rune, and the other was soft as in "that" which was the dagaz rune letter.

  • @BostonHeathen Ah ok... I learned something new.^^ It's hard for me to understand that well, because my mother language german forgot that "th"-sound and it has only d's and t's for it. For example english: this - german: dies.

  • @Beerholm LOL I think that was the hardest thing to learn in English. Being German myself, I know we just say the "t" sound (Theater, Labyrinth), but in English, I got by just using the "ss" sound (example: death was said as "dess"). some people thought I was gay or retarded XD

  • @BostonHeathen They were actually both written with thurisaz, if I remember correctly.

  • @BostonHeathen In Old English 'haethen' would be spelt with the 'thorn' (='Thurisaz') rune. It was pronounced 'hard' at the beginning or end of a word ('thing', 'paeth') but 'soft' between vowels ('other').

  • I am loveing your video man and keep up the good work,

  • @timsespindel

jag är ledsen att du känner så. men, min "nordic blod"

är lika ren som din. ;-)

I think it's ignorant for you to claim that only people who live in Nordic countries can be heathen. Just a hint, ever heard of Wodan, or Donar, or Ukko?

There were people who honored the pantheon in places other than Sweden and Norway. And guess what. One of those places was North America (If for a very short time.)

  • @BostonHeathen Around what's now Newfoundland. Only northern Europeans and Canadian maritimers can be heathen ;) .

-en forn sed efterföljare från Alberta :P

  • @GeckatYitik Leif Ericson must have landed in Canada. His father's name was Eric the Red, and with that family background, he'd never have been allowed into the US. lol

  • what is the correct way to spell "heathen"?

  • i understand where your coming from here dude. I was baptized Lutherin and my mother and younger siblings were strict in thier take on Christianity. my dad was an athiest. I was dragged to church regularly, but normally i would wait till mass had started then escape out the bathroom window and would go to the library. i read the books you speak of, by the invent of internet i converted to asatru shortly there after. thank you for puting an inteligent face on asatru and her "heathen" followers

  • What use a T and an H in "Heathen" when the runes have a Thorn letter? You spelt Boston alright though.

  • @Bluehawk2008

I know, I did it on purpose hahaha. I'm unfortunately afflicted with obsessive compulsive disorder, and having a different amount of letters was seriously bothering me, haha. Good eye though!

  • I think you have no reason to apologize for your belief or for how you found your belief! HAILSA! Welcome. We Heathen's all have our own way of coming into the belief. I would be proud of my son's or daughter to pick up books as such and come home with them! HAIL ODIN, HAIL BALDER, HAIL FRER, HAIL THOR!. Wassal.

  • I think it's important to seperate believing from being fascinated by the stories.

Do you believe that it's real or just think they are "cool"

  • @im4everskilled

I think the video mentioned that I've dedicated the majority of my life to the Aesir and the Vanir. I think I can happily and safely say that I believe pretty strongly.

  • well Im from ICEland(ÍSland), and well Ásatrú with is to be broken down Ása-Believe(trú)....I have to say christianity was forced on most Scandinavians(Nordic people) but, most of us now are lutherins(lúterskir), and well are very proud.lol ÍSland Þúsund ár....Jesús og Guð!!!!.lol, respec every ones views of ones faith cause, ALL religions have a GUÐ(GOD).

  • Enjoyable and inspirational video! We need more videos like this on the internet

  • I feel honored to be watching videos from the man who invented Asatru when he was seven.

  • I'm not sure I know what you mean...

  • @rabidbadger73 What the fuck are you on about

  • @im4everskilled I'm on about Mr. Zachary's deluded sense of self importance, that's what.

  • @rabidbadger73 Excuse me, but I don't think that sarcasm or insults are necessary. I believe that an important part of the Havamal states to say what you mean and don't hide your intent.

Anyway, I apologize greatly if I came off as self-important in this video. It was not at all my intention to do anything besides share a little bit of my experience in coming to Asatru. Again I apologize for the confusion.

    Hail!

  • @BostonHeathen books are for fags, fagit

  • @rabidbadger73 Alright, you're finished.

  • @rabidbadger73 Dude, Fuck you. books are NOT for fags. those of us who read books are for the most part intelligent and well cultivated. for you to openly declare we are fags and fagits (btw you didnt spell that properly so who is the idiot) is a prominent fallacy and should not be accepted. if you dont like us because we read, then you can be eaten by Niddhog. (those of you full asatru believers know what im talking about). you rabidbadger73 are a callow, insipid biggot. Pick up a fucking book

  • @rabidbadger73 Apparently, illiteracy is the new "cool". -.-

  • @rabidbadger73 you know, sometimes when people talk, their tone may make them seem that way, when it is definitely not their intention. I had professors like that. Don't say someone is arrogant based only on their voice, judge on actions! BTW where do you get off saying books are for "fagits?" Oh, wait you're one of those sheeple who believe the voices in your head, right? Please learn to spell next time you post dumb remarks.

  • May you all feast and drink in Valhalla for one night before the christian god knows you're dead

  • when i was a kid in grade three i remember picking up a book with different writings and one example was the runes, and from the runes i began to learn about the gods because of there association with the runes. when i was in grade seven and attending catholic school ( although i was brought up Wiccan and didn't believe in the christian god) i began to relate fully to the Aesir and Vanir gods rather than the one put in front of me. now I'm 23 and still trust in the gods. Odin give you victory.

  • eeeeeeew!!!

I was going to make a video response to you but......ehhh my voice irritates me.

haha anyways I just wanted to let you know my story on becoming asatruer.

When I was 16 I really began liking viking things. I had allways likes spartans and romans but vikings were the coolest. I was on youtube about mid may last year and stumbled upon Steve Mcnallens video on Asatru. I sent him a message asking if this was all for real and Shelia sent me a message back confirming the belief

  • I then bagan watching all the video's and let me tell you that the experience of the simple knowledge that asatru was still in existance, lifted my soal into a state I still cannot discribe. I had never felt such happiness. If it wasn't for the joy that it brought me I would have remained Christian, but it wasn't so.

I began questioning everything about Christianity. My mother fought and fought to change me back but there chanceof me going back. I have found the right path for me.

  • Hailsa! Glad that you found the folk way.

A word of caution to your tone at the beginning towards those that have been doing this for thirty or forty years: I would not say that it is your advantage over them.

Maybe Im misconstruing what you said. I am sure others heard it that way, too. You are still incredibly young in the folkway, especially if you have been a "solitary" heathen for 5 of the 6 years. Respect your elders, as I am sure you do.

This isnt meant as a flame.

    Hail the Gods

  • I had no idea this existed!

It's funny to see your room.

    ...and my pajama pants.

I'm glad you put this up, and I'm always here to help with future topics.

  • Hails! from a Western Mass Heathen.
