What kind of horse is that? What a beautiful creature. My friend has been involved with dressage for the past 30 years. I never really "got it" until now.

I will tell you the sercet of Rollkur, trainers use this to restrict oxygen to the brain of the horse the horses throax closes up. With less oxygen to the brain the horse then becomes calm and lightheaded and slows down because of to much carbon monoxide in the blood then the horse learns to be submissive to the rider's every comand because of fear of suffcation. Just like when a lion attacks a zebra it will go for the throax and then the drop down so liken these people to beasts of the feld.

Salinero is what, 17-17.2hh? She has alot of energy and power to control. She's not the only rider out there that rides with the curb tighter than some of the other riders, and she's not the only person who uses rollkur! Why are you only picking holes at Anky?

I have played soccer all my life, and I ride horses and I have to say the horses are many times harder than any other sport I have played. Anky Van Grunsven is just an amazing horse and his rider is amazing too. I..I would never be able to do that..ever. haha

Every single ride I sweat like crazy; whoever doesn't think its a sport obviously hasn't tried it - they might have sat on a horse, but they certainly havent *ridden* one. And it takes INCREDIBLE muscle, especially for complicated (and amazing!) stuff like this. You also have the variable of another living thing you're trying to cooperate with, not at all like kicking a ball.
Exactly. Kicking a ball, you know what you and the ball are going to do, especially if you know gravity and impulsion which most sportsmen do. With a horse, you're not sitting on a machine where you press a button and, "oh, I gotta do this" it takes real time and real dedication, without both you're hopeless. Not to mention, this sport is has an actually thrill that comes with the danger. *And* you love the horse, which makes it all the while... This is the best sport there is
@HawkstarOfficial You're right. I can play basketball and soccer. But I am horsebackriding now for a couple of years and it much harder than the ordinary sports. You have to be coordinated and have to think about what you do and it's just a wonderful sport and I hope to become better at it every week :)

you cannot get beautiful movement like that from a horse unless there is a trusting bond, Anky is an amazing rider, she can communicate to her horse better than any human could communicate to another person
@naturalhorsemanship4 Actually you can. Salinero is an outstanding example of excellent breeding for movement and type. He naturally moves like that. Her training methods are anathema to dressage. She is scored so well because she rides beautifully and her horses move so expressively, not because her training is great.
@platypussy79 Let Me rephrase that, You cannot capture movement like that repeatedly while riding a horse just by breeding. You can pick the most expressive dam and sire, with the strongest and most fluid moving joints and best dressage conformation you can find, but that does not mean the horse comes out knowing level 4. There are years of training and practice put into every horse and rider that can make a name for themselves. Hence the reason this is a sport and a career.
@naturalhorsemanship4 Couldn't agree more. GP dressage takes years and years of training and Anky's horses are clearly trained to a very high degree. That being said, there is a school of thought (to which I belong) that Anky tries to shortcut those years by using hyperflexion.

Wonderfully ridden. What a great pair. The horse is very calm and relaxed and is really enjoying his job. Not resistant or hesitant. the tow are as one.
If you look at his tail you can tell the oppisitte... If he didn't enjoy it, it would move a lot harder, if he didn't like what he was doing his tail would go way higher to both side, and most of the time also agains his back. He is just going with his tail at the rithem he is going, and in the air, not against his body...
And his ears, are standing to the front. Yeah there are parts that you are rigth, but most of the time the horse loves what he is doing.
And maybe this isn't naturelhorsemanship, but if you look at youre horse when he is outside, he does the same things when he is happy, or nervous cause somthing he doesn't know is passing by. It can be that it isn't naturel that the horse does al that in a row, but in the wild, he does do those things...
And to be honest, i don't believe in natural horsmenship, i don't think that you can ride a horse and geteverything out of it with that.. And he does love it...
@hildelover evey horse is inimitable and some horses are trained with rollkur amd smooch with her rider, during other horses know that they're hurt and attack ther rider.
salinero is trained to move so but i you look at the piaffe, you see, that his hindquarters are not going under his balance point.

In my opinion is a bad rider somebody who rides Rollkur an thinks that's okay. Everyone makes mistakes but if you do, you should try to correct them and do it better next time.

A lady who lives near me breeds them and I ride them for her and you have to work waay harder to get them listening to you and getting them responsive compared to say, a thoroughbred. I own and ride a tb and he is alot more sensitive than a wb! Before you critisize Anky, try doing what she does and see how hard it actually is.

they are a really good team and if the horse didn't like it they wouldn't be that far. you can see it in show jumping as well. there might be horses with all the needed abilities but when the horse has no fun jumping over fences it will never make it. the same with dressage. and honestly: tell me one think in the 21th century that is natural...

With a horse, you're not sitting on a machine where you press a button and, "oh, I gotta do this" it takes real time and real dedication, without both you're hopeless. Not to mention, this sport is has an actually thrill that comes with the danger. *And* you love the horse, which makes it all the while... This is the best sport there is

@HawkstarOfficial You're right. I can play basketball and soccer. But I am horsebackriding now for a couple of years and it much harder than the ordinary sports. You have to be coordinated and have to think about what you do and it's just a wonderful sport and I hope to become better at it every week :)

Die Dressur soll das Pferd, gehorsam auf die Hilfen machen und es gymnastizieren. Anyone that says Anky doesn't love her horses, screw you. Obviously, if she didn't, I don't think they'd be that well-trained, and perform that well. They arehealthy, fit, beautiful, and intelligent horses that Anky knows and loves. And PONYf3N, you're an idiot. People who do dressage areactually talented riders. you cannot get beautiful movement like that from a horse unless there is a trusting bond, Anky is an amazing rider, she can communicate to her horse better than any human could communicate to another person

@naturalhorsemanship4 Actually you can. Salinero is an outstanding example of excellent breeding for movement and type. He naturally moves like that. Her training methods are anathema to dressage. She is scored so well because she rides beautifully and her horses move so expressively, not because her training is great.

@platypussy79 Let Me rephrase that, You cannot capture movement like that repeatedly while riding a horse just by breeding. You can pick the most expressive dam and sire, with the strongest and most fluid moving joints and best dressage conformation you can find, but that does not mean the horse comes out knowing level 4. There are years of training and practice put into every horse and rider that can make a name for themselves. Hence the reason this is a sport and a career.

@naturalhorsemanship4 Couldn't agree more. GP dressage takes years and years of training and Anky's horses are clearly trained to a very high degree. That being said, there is a school of thought (to which I belong) that Anky tries to shortcut those years by using hyperflexion.

I sympathise, he's very responsive but a bit of an oaf. I think he has q.a significant lateral sway in piaffe too. But as I said, wow that horse would do anything for her. What a sweetie, undoubtedly a real treat to ride.

If you look at his tail you can tell the oppisitte... If he didn't enjoy it, it would move a lot harder, if he didn't like what he was doing his tail would go way higher to both side, and most of the time also agains his back. He is just going with his tail at the rithem he is going, and in the air, not against his body...
And his ears, are standing to the front. Yeah there are parts that you are rigth, but most of the time the horse loves what he is doing.

And maybe this isn't naturelhorsemanship, but if you look at youre horse when he is outside, he does the same things when he is happy, or nervous cause somthing he doesn't know is passing by. It can be that it isn't naturel that the horse does al that in a row, but in the wild, he does do those things...
And to be honest, i don't believe in natural horsmenship, i don't think that you can ride a horse and geteverything out of it with that.. And he does love it...

salinero is trained to move so but i you look at the piaffe, you see, that his hindquarters are not going under his balance point.

@AshleighM82 horses don't know, that they are much stronger than we are. Rollkur ist not a natural position for horses. She forces them, she breaks them. Watch Emma Hindle an Lancet Aachen 2009 and then watch Anky and Salinero Aachen 2009. Why do you think ist Salineros walk so uptight an bad? In my opinion is a bad rider somebody who rides Rollkur an thinks that's okay. Everyone makes mistakes but if you do, you should try to correct them and do it better next time.

A lady who lives near me breeds them and I ride them for her and you have to work waay harder to get them listening to you and getting them responsive compared to say, a thoroughbred. I own and ride a tb and he is alot more sensitive than a wb! Before you critisize Anky, try doing what she does and see how hard it actually is.
P.S. I'm not saying I agree to rollkur either

She ist very sensitive and in the flying changes it's enough to put the leg three cm behind the girth and she changes. anky holds the kerb to tide, look at HipHop Kur Anky van Grunsven and Keltec Salinero by Romana3344.

they are a really good team and if the horse didn't like it they wouldn't be that far. you can see it in show jumping as well. there might be horses with all the needed abilities but when the horse has no fun jumping over fences it will never make it. the same with dressage. and honestly: tell me one think in the 21th century that is natural...
