By using multiple rock-bolting and steel mesh with high steel fiber content-reinforced shortcrete and combined that with specially designed rock bolts that will allow high vacuum-assisted and high pressure-assisted grouting they could have taken a high magnitude earthquake and still remain intact and operational indefinitely. Just life ferro-cement pannels, the steel-reinforced shortcrete will remain flexible, even will keep supporting the cavern even when severely cracked!

Love it. This is the kind of, well even the pejorative term "sci-fi film" still applied to this stuff, that CBS showed frequently in the 70's.

Roddenberry gave Mariette Hartley 2 belly-buttons because he was not allowed to show even her single one in Star Trek (Original Series) "All Our Yesterdays". Network censors disallowed the costume of the character Zarabeth which would show a navel. So Roddenberry had his revenge later on.
