Plus, if the system is managed on a computer network, count on somebody finding ways to exploit weaknesses in that system. Some do it because of a sinister motive while others do it just to see if it can be done.

As for capital punishment, there is justification for the death penalty, IMO, if a person has been proven guilty of a crime so heinous that anything less than that is simply unjust for the victim and his/her family.

Incarceration is supposed to rehabilitate an offender so he/she can be a productive member of society. Life imprisonment sort of defeats that purpose. Further, life in jail can be more inhumane if that life is rife with violence and suffering.
