  • just finished lain and this series really reminds me why i fell in love with anime in the first place!

  • I first watched Lain in its entirety at a point in my life when I was seriously depressed and was dealing with various self-destructive tendencies.

I loved Lain. I still do. But it reeeeaaallyyyy didn't help with the depression, lol. An amazing anime, absolutely incredible in fact, but not good to watch if you're going through some shit, or especially if you have a tendency to dissociate. Just putting that out there.

  • What I love of this Anime, is that it gives you the opportunity to create your own meaning, everybody I know who has watched it has their own analysis, it allows you to understand it the way you want it to be.

  • Very impressive and professional review! Lain is an acquired taste, but tolerance for the slow pace in the first few episodes definitely yields rewards. ;)

  • I recently found like 4 copies of Disc 3 "Deus" in a store for like 3 dollars each... and now i own a copy of part of Lain

  • i cant wait for despera to come...

  • @theSilenceAF are they working on it again ? I thought it was on hold do to heath problems of Nakamura.

  • first time i watch the whole lain serial experiment i thought the title means that how the main character experiment on the net and how she become god while changing how she would live

  • are those cels in the bg?

  • @itachifan275 Yep. Including a lain cel, in fact!

  • @ONVPodcast awesome :) cels are super special awesome

  • You have long called lame ur favorite anime of all time? xD

  • Ah Lain, love that series. I'm glad to see someone else that appreciates this series. Everyone I talk to cringes when I bring up this series. Philistines! This series is a literal art house film with it's rampant symbolism and surreal ideas. It's like if Kubrick did anime.

  • VERY appropriate ending!! even though it was right off the top of your head...Lain is my favorite anime of all time as well :)

  • Lain for me was just addicting. I've never watched something like it before. I loved the color scheme they used for the show also. I just saw the name some where on the wired and then just checked it out. It is confusing, but I guess that is just what pulls me in. Just trying to figure out what is going on, then finally understanding. Though I would not recommended for everyone. I barely got my friends to watch Gantz and they refuse to watch Evangelion. They would they shut this experiment down.

  • first show, in which I connected to the character.

  • it is realy hard to look at lain in a objectiv pint of view. you just have to fall in love with this masterpiece.

  • Lain has been my favorite anime(my second favorite would probably be Kara no kyoukai:).. for a few years and it also changed my view on life. I think every anime fan should go watch just becuase it is so different from the norm.

    LET'S ALL LOVE LAIN

    LET'S ALL LOVE LAIN

    LET'S ALL LOVE LAIN

    LET'S ALL LOVE LAIN

LET's ALL LOVE LAIN LAIN LAIN LAIN LAIN LAIN LAIN LAIN LAIN...

  • am up to episode 4 and love it!!! it's even more confusing than .Hack//sign was at this point in the series (not that that that's a bad thing as that's one of the reason I love .Hack//sign) and I didn't know that was possible.

  • @nintendonut100 Well, .hack//SIGN really isn't confusing at all. Everything is explained in a pretty linear way, and then you have to remember that //SIGN is only the beginning of the story. But that's beside the point.

  • I kinda disliked it at first. But when I woke the next day after finishing it, I realized I loved it!

  • it sounds interesting enough to check out, don't know if I'd find it enjoyable though.

  • Watched Lain sometime ago, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. It had a really interesting way of showing its themes, and really challenged the viewers understanding, which I like in my anime. However, I feel it gets too rapped up in itself, making the story and themes a bit contrived. I can't help but make comparisons to Boogiepop Phantom, which I think was much more effective in the delivery of its themes and plot, though being just as confusing as Lain.

  • you got me interested to check it out, I'm curious to see how it is. I think by listing to this review might make it easier to follow. I now know what to expect if I watch it.

  • I watched the first half of Lain a year or so ago and despite absolutely loving it I never got around to finishing it and after this video I very well may soon, to an extent (this is a bad comparison) the first half of Chaos Head seemed so mind blowing and similar you have absolutely no clue what is happening what is reality and what isn't you can make assumptions but you cant be sure what's real and whats not...but chaos head really gets disapointing a little after some questions are answered

  • Lain is something I've put off watching for a good number of years, I'm not even sure why. I find the ideas of the show very interesting, but have always avoided watching it.

I guess now is a good time to finally watch it after hearing your view.

  • I just watched the first 7 minutes of the first episode and I wondered to myself, "Is this what being on drugs feels like?" Does it stay this depressing?

  • @LaromZenshin Depends on your definition of "depressing." :-) lain's not exactly filled with rainbows and sunshine, but it has ups and downs, and it ends on a positive note.

  • @ONVPodcast Back again. I actually just finished the series. I loved it except for one thing at the ending. I really wanted Lain to exist in the real world :'( Especially after Lain's confession to Arisu. Yeah it was one sided, but I can dream can't I? :D

  • @LaromZenshin Remember how the series establishes that things which are *remembered* are the things that actually exist? Well, what happens in the final scene of lain? ;-)

  • @ONVPodcast personally I found the ending to be one of the saddest anime endings I've seen.

  • @ONVPodcast actually the ending was one of the sadest thing ive ever seen.

  • @khosrow agreed.

  • Fav anime of all time barnone good review! ^_^

  • I've seen a little bit of Serial Expeiments Lain. I'm on Episode 4 right now, but the story is going kinda slow and I've been busy lately, so I haven't had much time to watch it. Still, from what I've seen so far, it's very interesting and I'd like to know how this story plays out.

  • i remember starting to watch this way back and i couldn't really tell what was going on and couldn't finish it. maybe ill give it another try

  • I bought this a while ago but haven't come around watching it yet. Sounds like i'll like it :)
