Atheism isn't a belief system, it's just a term that means a disbelief in God(s). That's it. And why is it 'poorly thought' to suspend belief, until real evidence presents itself. To belief that a God created the universe, however, doesn't want you to eat Pork or Drink, not to mention be worshipped, well that to me is 'just weak'.

Atheism is infact a belief system. Since it necessitates the disbelief of God and all religious ethics and morals. Therefore the BELIEF or CREED of an atheist is there is NO GOD. This then implies secular values and allows for morals and ethics to change based on societal norms. Therefore although atheism is definitely not a uniform, organized, unchangeable belief system it is an belief system. Your disbelief in God has a direct influence of how you live your life.

Well, there are a few things to discuss with regard to your comment. First, Atheism isn't a belief system. I have friends that don't believe in God, and never have. However, they have never given the subject any thought. I used to be a Catholic, it was through looking at my faith, and religion in general, that lead to my disbelief in God(s). There are many 'roads to atheism'. However, unlike religion, an atheist can hold values that a religious person can as well...

How is religion 'proof' of an intelligent being? Also, we have religion for biological reasons (it appears to be, at least in some of us, 'hardwired'). Also, if you're going to say that an intelligent being (God) created our brains (and the Cosmos), then where did it come from? And you can't say that He/She/it is 'eternal', that's an 'intellectual cop out'.

incorrect. Time and Space would also be considered a created entity, therefore the concept of time or space does not apply to God. It is like asking.. "how many people does a does a punch you in the nose have?". Eternal does not mean t=0 onwards. It means t=does not apply here, invalid value, infinity, syntax error. Therefore God is indeed eternal. That statement about religion being proof of an intelligent being is garbage. Is Scientology proof of God.. i certainly hope no theist would say yes.

Yes, the statement about God being proof of an intelligent being IS garbage. Time was created after the Big Bang, however space wasn't. Space existed as a 'singularity', then began to expand (due to the Big Bang). Thus, space wasn't 'created', it existed before the Big Bang. However, we can't measure past the Planck time, so we have no way of knowing (yet) what caused the Bang. However, there are theories, like String theory, and others, that speculate as to what caused the Bang.

I think you misunderstood what i was saying. The fact any religion exists does not prove the existence of God. Depending on the claims religions makes we can understand whether the religion is truly from God or not. You and I are created, that doesnt mean there isnt a logical, reasonable --- scientifically explainable process of us existing, we did not "poof into existence". Similarly, am not suggesting space, time, you or me was poofed into existence like a genie coming out of a lamp.

untrue. Islam holds that it is possible for intelligent life to exist on other planets. In fact Islam confirms the big bang theory and does not totally disagree with evolution. Unfortunately Christianity has given a bad name to religion and God ... somehow people assume logic and reason have no application when it comes to religion.

Those verses, as well as others found in other religions, are not evidence that a God, yours or any others, created the universe. You, as well as other Muslims, are interpreting those verses using a 'modern cosmological lens'. All of the current theories for how our universe came into existence DO NOT have a God as part of the equation. Also, if your God created the universe, then where did He/She/It come from? And don't say that God is eternal, that's a logical fallacy...

Again, please provide an alternative interpretation of the verse... its one thing for me to say "a great war will occur" is a prophecy of world war 2 - thats stretching interpretation tooo far. When the Qur'an says "we created the heavens and earth from a single point" .. whether i read that knowing about the big bang or not .. i know universe was created .. "from a single point". Again, there is no alternate meaning, nor any "alternate lens" used...

MOST scientists will agree that science can never prove or disprove existence of a God. We may be able to use science to test CLAIMS made by VARIOUS religions (i.e. whether the earth is flat or only 9000 years old) - but we could never prove or disprove existence of **A** God, whomever that may be. Clearly you need to resort to philosophy and theology to find an answer. Stop reading Richard Darwin's books - amongst the actual intellectual circle.. hes considered pseudo-intellectual.

Easy! First we tell them that we are gods and that they must obey us unless they want to feel our wrath. We may kill some of them with our advanced technology to demonstrate this. Then we'll show them things that' will help them progress, like mathematics, construction and cultivation. Then we'll tell them that if they want to come to live with us in heaven (our ships orbiting the planet) they have to follow 10 rules.

The we disappear for thousands of years and when we come back we'll probably find that they made a religion out of our teachings and started killing other members of their species for believing in "false gods". So to fix this, we abduct a virgin woman and create hybrid fetus with some of our DNA and "artificially inseminate" the girl. So a couple of years later after the boy has been born, we teach this boy what he has to do to fix everything bad that people are doing.

@sim5191 there could be there are millions of stars most likely with planets orbiting them... and there could be hundreds maybe thousands of planets like earth that could sustain life. so just think of how many different kinds of animals there are on earth... if there are at least 5 earth like planets with life... just think of the possibilities that those alien organisms are intelligent even just primitive intelligence. that proves that there is intelligent life outside of earth
