  • something wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiild...........great tune thanks for posting it! :)

  • @arnett37 sorry man iggy did a song something wild but this is a hiatt original off the perfectly good guitar lp.

  • I am speechless, that was the best EVER, & my 1st JH viewing, only once have I seen such a great band & it would be SRV, & on ACL ironically..Voodoo Chile. John Man WTDilio, thanks for the Greatness Loove that Music, ps What up with Austin?

  • The best part for me? The very simple, basic equipment setup. Drums, Bass, Two Guitars with just the 3 amps dialed into great tone. That's it. Excellent Live Track.

  • reminds me a little of a cat i listened to fifty years ago Johnny Rivers like him and like this guy.

  • Hiatt is truly a songwriter's songwriter.

  • @daf827 This is an Iggy Pop cover.

  • @arnett37 you may know this song from Iggy's Brick By Brick but it was written by John - who even sings at that Iggy record

  • Has he ever performed the same song the same way twice? Amazing.

  • you know where i come from

  • R.I.P. little brother, something wild..Phillip Goodman

  • for Phillip Goodman

  • wow! Moby rawks!! (I had no idea)

  • is that the Bald guitarist from the Wallflowers?

  • Yes - Mike Ward

  • Guilty dogs were a great match with Hiatt

  • Excellent performer and singer.

    Love this performance

    great video.

    10 stars

  • elvis cosquello wears glasses with no actuall glass in them

  • "I think I've got nine lives in the corpuscles/But, girl, you know some times I don't think right!"

  • Thatz RAK AND ROLL MFs

    taxiboysdrummer

  • Yep. Thats the shit.

  • He inherited Long John Baldry's voice.

  • Michael Ward rocks that holly body!

  • I got one of those teles with the white pickups in the early 80's and your right I couldn't get that thing to sound good in any amp. I took the pickups out and put a tele pickup in front and a Gibson firebird pickup in back and it has been my main axe for over 20 years now.

  • That's Michael Ward and he uses that gold early '70s Les Paul Signature hollowbody. He now plays with Ben Harper, great guitarist.

  • Yup, that's it. And that's Davey Faragher on bass, currently playing with Elvis Costello.

  • Who is playing guitar for him? He straight up plays!!

  • Michael Ward, who went on to be with the Wallflowers on their first CD. I have ES335 that I purchased new in 1970, his guitar looks like a Gretsch. No matter what it is he knows how to play it!

  • someone post slow turning from ASC dude he kick ass on that one..BTW John kicks ass

  • I want more of this concert on youtube! some1?

  • John;s the only man i know brave enough to open ACL with something other than his biggest hit. He is an american original

  • @BillReef Everyone opens ACL with their B-sides. You save the singles for the end because there's no encore.

  • Damn Genius

  • this is the 1st video I've seen on here where a record company put it up to promote selling a DVD.

  • cant find performance of thunderbird;i saw it somewhere now i cant find it ,duh

  • THe gold guitar is a Les Paul Signature, similar to a 335 but with low impedance p.u.'s. The lower cutaway bout is smaller, otherwise shape is like a 335. I bought a new one in the mid-70's, they were discontinued after a couple of years.

  • looks like p-90's on this guitar.

  • Nope, they're not P-90's they are low impedance Les Paul p.u.'s. that were stock on this guitar.

  • But do you not agree that that era Gibson's,many of them used p-90's.Many Les Pauls and Sg's used p-90's.

  • Yep. I'm a guitar dealer and collector, owned hundreds of them with P-90's. You see them on LP's (Jr.'s), ES-330's, Epiphone Casino's, SG's, even old L-5's, ES-350's etc. All I'm saying is these aren't P-90's. I have owned several of these sort of rare guitars.

  • no doubt !

Wouldn't you love to go back in time with a pocket full of dollars and grab some of those guitars?

  • Tears come to my eyes, when I think of my '57 Strat Sherwood green w/gold hardware. My dad bought it new for me Christmas 1957. Traded it in 63 for a Gibson ES-330, cause I thought that's what Freddie King played. Then there's my '55 Les Paul Jr....But back then it was a $300 guitar.

  • im so sorry.

  • Yeah. And this model of "Les Paul" used to be the Nehru jacket of the guitar world. You couldn't give them away. Same with those awful Teles of the 70s with those Fender humbuckings.

Now they're all the rage. Go figure.

  • YOu hit the nail on the head. Those inferior Teles and Strats are selling for big bucks. I had a cheap Ibanez Strat copy that was a much better guitar than my 25th Anniversary Strat as far a performance guitar. I am amazed. Just because it's old don't mean it's good.

  • I still don't dig the goldtop...it's really a 335 with P90s right? It seems so. Anyway, i've never even played one cuz no one has one from what i can see. At least he's got his own thing. Anyway, 70s teles can be cool if you do the proper mods. Try a Gibson Burstbucker in the neck and a Barden or Fralin in the bridge. That alone will make it sound great and versitile. If it has an ash body you're already ahead of the curve. Replace the tuners and you've got yourself a fine gigging instrument

  • No those are not P90's. Those are low impedence p.u.'s that Les favored for a while. A ES-330 has P-90's but it is completly hollow with no block inside like a 335. Generally 70's Tele's are crap and now they're overpriced crap. You would do better and much cheap to mod a MIM Tele, especially the 50's or 60's "copy" or the MIM James Burton model. If you own a 70's Tele DON'T mod it! You will piss off most of the value, sell it and buy you something good.

  • That's not a 335, it's an obscure model thats name escapes me now. A friend of mine has one just like it, and his is the only other one I've ever seen.

  • It's a Les Paul Signature

  • Thanks for the info.

  • i have a 57 225t sunburst 1 p 90! was that gold guitar a 335 with two hummers?

  • Yeah-that's it. The only one I have ever played had a horrible intonation problem, something many Gibsons suffer from.

  • I thought that was Mike Ward. Looks like he has alot more fun in this video than he ever did with the Wallflowers.

  • Something Wild. michael was just that. thank God for all of it. Vibrolux or matchless amp... It just doesn't mattter.

  • Oh how that man could dance... And Michael Ward, the man with the "weird-ass Gibson through a funny amp turned up to about 13!" Cool video, thanks.

  • I belive that weird Gibson is a ESG 335 gold metal flake finish. nice axe .

  • LOVE John Hiatt...just saw him live...just him a guitar and piano...AWESOME! Thanks for sharing this!

  • Awesome!

  • Im suprised his song "Perfectly Good Guitar" aint on youtube. great stuff, rock on.
