Things were a little less disposable back in the day, hooking something up to your television was a big deal, let alone hooking a "toy" up to the television for your kids.

I was bored to tears at my grandparent's house, because I wasn't even allowed to hook my game up to the television. So that might partially explain the whole "your parents help you hook it up" thing.

Don't remember this commercial. I think I was too busy playing the game rather than watching the TV spot for it. :)
