This ouverture is endless ... too much ... Everybody wants to hear the violin, not to dutifully wait 4 minutes before it comes ... Mendelssohn or Dvorak violin concertos are the best in this regard :)

I think it was performed at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, but I am not certain...

I confirmed it with an Italian friend of mine - it definitely is being performed at La Scala.
