It'd be a shame to blow it up. :|

  • @Rampageotron not the last of the v8 interceptors! i hate ppl saying that, just coz they said that in the movie dont mean shit! here in oz (where this car comes form) we still have v8 cop cars. all highway patrols or "intercepters" have always been v8 till now when they also use the xr6 turbo falcon! which eats the 5.4l- 6.0l v8's, yer u'll still see more v8 highway patrols than the 6's

  • @ika7n i know in america all the cop cars i know of come with about a 300hp 4.6l

  • defo a pursuit special the normal mfp cars big bopper n march heir were interceptors the knight riders and this one are both specials

  • Hey isn't the interceptors yellow red and blue? The police cars were from the opening scene.

  • Yeah, but this is the 'top' spec one, the V8 interceptor, or last of the V8 interceptors.

  • Richard, its not the interceptor, this is the Pursuit Special.

  • every cop car in that movie was a v8...

  • @aceslipknot not all, at least one of the yellow interceptors from the movie the XA that smokes alot was a 6 cyl.

  • that is a Interceptor pursuit special 600HP Supercharged with dual overhead cams the last of the V8's <- from the movie

  • @SolidSnacks92 its the ducks guts

  • this is the interceptor that they kept in the garage and it shows them working on it at one point but max gets it out at the end

  • riptor u talking shit that a lovelylooking car...

  • Japanese copy everything...

  • It is a great car for the movies because it is more realistic. You can't go drive around in a post nuclear world with a lamborghini or a porsche. Would be beyond unrealstic driving on rough terrain.

  • i dont think its ugly. remember this is back in the 70's what would my son think 30 years later of the import seen, probably the same as you.

  • R U FUCKING MENTALLY RETARTED U FUCK HEAD!! how can u say thats ugly man??? its absolutly wiked looking, if this car was a chick it'd be jessica alba. its simply a masterpiece of australian muscle.

  • has simular front body work to the ford sierra i perfer the original falcon xb or even a ford capri but still these are cars when they was at there prime theres nothing ugly about real cars, cant imagine madmax driving a 79 ford thunderbird or dodge diplomat heh and all the plastic cars today are crap and designed for people who cant drive so the INTERCEPTOR it is

  • 安門くさ

  • Funny, Super American Festival at Fuji but it's an Aussie car.

  • ...great car;this ist one of the best replica`s i seen.

  • you dont turn it on and off they dont work that way this one may be for looks only

  • I have actually heard of--but never seen--belt-driven blowers with a built-in clutch in the pulley; allowing you to turn them on and off. The principle is similar to the clutch-activated pulley on an A/C compressor. I can't say how accurate this info is, since I haven't actually laid eyes on one, but I have heard of them.

  • Everyones heard of that :) but no one has seen one, mainly because it wouldnt work right. And there would be absolutely no point in it. The fuel mixture isnt the same with the blower on as it is off. Also the engine would have to work harder to bring air in though the blower assembly thats not moving, actually restricting airflow, further screwing everything up. Wouldnt be worth it to have that setup. Just have one like this guy, or have a real one turning all the time making that sweet whine!

  • That's true about the fuel mix. I didn't think about it until you said that. Something else to consider is that the compression ratio in a blown motor has to be lower than an N/A motor or you'll crack the cylinder head or even the engine block. Also, shutting off the blower would pretty much choke off the engine completely--like clamping your hand over an open carburetor; within seconds, the engine chokes out. Thanks for kickstarting my brain :)

  • But, you gotta admit; since belt-driven superchargers drag on the engine and actually rob power off-idle and at low RPM, wouldn't it be awesome to be able to shut one down until you got up to speed? Say, around 50 or so--then engage the blower for a major kick in the pants! If you ask me, the way the blower switch affected the car on screen actually seemed more like a 150 shot of nitrous. Oh, well; it still looked cool...

  • how do you turn the blower on and off while driving???

  • 1/24th SCALE, you know-it-all. Way to throw my accusation back in my face. You are not a retard. You are a parrot. If not, then you are a bird-brain, just like my sisters, who don't have enough brain power to have a conversation or argument, and can ONLY repeat what I bring to them. I NEVER, EVER EVER bash a human being for NO REASON. If you HAVE a father, go ask him what the heck I am teaching you right now, you weasel of a worm. He should be the one to set you straight, not me. BYE NOW

  • thats not American muscle thats Aussie muscle that car was made in aus and disgined in aus and used in aus the film was made in aus lol

but i cant say i dont like American muscle lol

  • the aus built cleveland V8 though was designed in ohio, US

  • mfp to gozling 1

  • カッコイイ

  • nope NK Sgr is right it was never made for the American market it was produced by ford motors Australia it was only ever sold there and New Zealand

  • you mean an american muscle car

  • nice to see a auzzie musle car in japan. show those japanese a real car.

  • yeah...except american muscle.

look at japanese muscle, they f-ing stole EVERYTHING from americans, the first skyline looked like a bel air

  • im talking about performance. not style of looks

there reliebale machines an there fucking rockets

i dont nkow the bel air an ye never know they cudda bought the concept of them i dunno

  • it not about performance, even if toyota can make nice engines or anything like that, the first generation celica looks like a fucking torino, so theres no way to get any recognition, even if back then american muscles could whoop just about anything someone like honda threw at them

  • I don't think the Celica looks like a Torino.

  • Me too, it just looks like a Celica to me....I think the guy doesn't know what he is talking about.

  • A Celica not!!!!! It's a 5.8 litre 1974 Ford Falcon XB GT it is a lot bigger than a sillycar.

  • nono....Some guy was going on about some celica he was saying that the first celica looked liked a falcon!?!???

The car in the video though is an ICON!!! cant get much cooler then the XB GT coupe:)

  • dude, go look at a 1973 celica, then a 1970 torino, the front is massively stolen, so yeah, i know what im talking about.

  • Lots of cars look like that....Hell my old Capri looked like it was a Datsun/Toyota...Even a guy at a dealer mistook my Cousins 73 for a Toyota. I'm just saying It's just the way it is the first Chevy's looked like a Ford! Did you know that Toyota even MADE Model T's in Japan because they were so popular there? *For the Ford company of course.* Nothing was "Stolen" Ford and Toyota have deep history together as well as many other company's that Ford and Toyota have worked with.

  • true yes, good point, but that doesnt mean all is fair, even my best friend who loves nissans admits that early japanese muscle was ripped off of american muscle cars, its part of what made the japanese go crazy about supercars. well that, and when they brought over trans am racing from the states. and one more thing, i never said that this car in the video looked like a celica, i love mad max's falcon :P

  • Have to understand the culture, there an american muscle car is like gold kinda like an R32 Skyline here, they have just as much love for them there as we do here, and to drive a car with looks inspired by an american muscle car makes them very proud....And so they should, a lot of those cars are very good looking. I just wish we could go back to making beautiful cars like that instead of plastic lumps of crap of today. I want the bulges and curves back!.

  • It is an Australian car and they were used as police cars and even taxis(4 door sedans) in australia in the 70's.

  • Oh and the comments were pretty confusing with out going back and reading every last one...it kinda sounded like you were talking about the Falcon which made me one confused ford guy..lol

  • the 1970 falcon XA strangly looks familer to the 79 XB too :P but thats ford for you using the same parts on other cars i remmeber my cortinas rear lights was exactly the same make and model used for the lotus esprit ,as for japan the 60s subaru 360 comes to mind for car design heh

  • yeah its ridiculous how much they recycle stuff, like the tail lights on a 64 TBird are the same as a 68 mustang california special

  • Let me correct you my American friend,

In 1970 the model was the XY falcon ,the XA Falcons did not appear until 1973 till 1974, XB 74 till 76 and XC 76 till 79 the front of an XA is nothing like an XB although the rears of all three coupes were similar but sedan were different.

The XA was the first falcon designed in Australia without any American influence in the body shape.

General motors did the same in Australia with the Holdens from the 70's

  • Spot on my friend, spot on!

  • Close, but a bit out in the years - XB came out in 1973. I own a Dec build 1973 XB coupe.

  • No such thing as a 79 xb dude...in fact the xD came out by then....

  • I had never noticed before but you are right. When I googled images for both i couldnt believe how similar the front ends are. Nice pick up dude

  • Dude, it was 1957...everybody's cars looked like that. That was the style pretty much everywhere back then. Look back at car design post-WWII. From about 1952 to roughly 1969, there were the most similarities between "The Big 3" automakers in terms of shape, size, and overall design across their entire product lines because that's what the market wanted. Even Russia had a decent-looking car back then (which, by the way, kept '50-something Ford looks right up until 1970).

  • Bear in mind that car design is fluid. The 350Z was designed in California. The 1st gen Lexus GS was penned by an Italian design firm. Audi, BMW, and Benz all employ Japanese design engineers. My '71 Cutlass had "body by Fisher" medallions on the door sills (Fisher was an indendent coach works). Pinifarina's done most of Ferrari's body designs. Without fresh perspectives, design stales. Look up the Russian Volga, which aside from headlight shape, hasn't visually changed at all since 1982.

  • its 2009 buddy. American cars are better than most Jap made cars, with the exception of Subaru and some Nissan's. For example lets look at cheap sports cars, a Srt4 or Cobalt SS vs Honda Civic Si of the same year. the Cobalt deffinetly looks better, srt4s personal preference lol, and both of them are quite a bit quicker and have more options. the only thing a Si has over either is it handles better than the srt4 but losses everything else. people thinking Japanese cars are the best crack me up

  • i really cudnt be arsed to read any of that.

    wasting ur time buddy

    lil freak

  • in a nutshell i called you ignorant and told you to get with the times

  • there is PLENTY of awesome Japanese cars, so yeah do NOT lump them all together with the shit Honda's we get here. and a lot of that "Jap crap" is FAR better then the mass quantity's of shit we're pushing out of our factory's...Which is part of the reason Japanese cars outsell American cars. While we're finding ways to cut costs there finding ways to make there stuff better.

So yeah get with the times.

  • if you read what i wrote i said some subys were ok and most nissans are good. There are no Japanese cars that are far better than an american one. Maybe a little better but almost never far better (in there respective classes). Chevy has been making 28mpg V8s with 3 times the hp as most 4 bangers with the same gas mileage since 93..........

  • you can get 28mpg with any car if you are the most careful driver in the world. realistically speaking you'd get 15-16mpg average.

  • You are right, if all you know about is what we get here in america. I believe the turbo cobalt is the best, for me. But in japan, and the rest of the world that breathes with their mouth's closed, gets some pretty awesome cars. I mean, they have a turbo option for everything, and a HP version of the turbo as well. Check out the VR4's, skylines, GTO, old galants, the toyota 2000 like in bond, or a nice old 240Z. I used to design musclecars, and I think they are not as good, in quality.

  • i know alot about all cars. my favorite car is a Skyline R-34 v-spec nur. but since America never imported the R-34 i have to settle for a Terminator Cobra =] evo's, Sti's, 350 or 370Z, R35, and such are all badass (btw a VR4 is a top of the line GTO aka 3000GT) and id buy any, american or whatever but i wouldnt buy the worst in the class if it was the most expensive (new civic Si)

  • No, I know about the GTO/3kgtVR4, I meant the galant. I had 'ol #044, 1992, built by AMS. Had it for a decade, mint like after dinner MINT! Never say you know alot about all anything. Kinda makes you seem... well... retarded. Sorry if it offends. But a dude with flow talks about the car he or she is buying, not "I'd buy" this or that. How about this: I'd buy a skyline, which I can afford, if it weren't for the fact that a COBALT could clean my clock. Besides, got a skyline now. 1/24th.

  • i was meaning im not just a muscle nut but i do know a bit about cars in genereal. sorry if you think i sound retarded but bashing me for no reason make you sound....well... retarded. sorry if that offends you. and whats a skyline is 1/24th mean?

  • listo---you lucky SOB! Galant VR4, the pre-Evo! Evo-granddaddy! How'd you come across one? I can't remember ever even seeing one here in NC--and I was into imports long before they were "cool".

  • @NKSgsr right on.

  • sex

  • JUST FUCKING GREAT ,give our god damn falcon back ,you can keep that jap shit

  • amazing beautiful car

  • American muscle > Japanese rice burner's.

  • thats the nicest one ove seen though thier probably all made that nice

  • Mmm I agree except this car is not American. Have a look where Ford Falcons come from. This old lady is a Falcon XB GT Coupe.

  • That IS a Ford Falcon, no matter what you try to change on it, the shell and components came from the idea of the Ford Falcon.

  • Correct, I'm just saying the Ford Falcon is not an American car ;)

  • I am going to say you are being sarcastic.

  • Nope, Ford although is a American company, the Ford Falcon is designed and built by Ford Australia on a local platform and is a "stand alone" model. Only the V8 engine was sourced from the States the I6's are all (still) Aussie built. Ford did build a Falcon in North America up until 1970 but it was a completely different car.

  • In order to be called Ford Australia and be a car manufacturer who do you think they had to get permission from? They are still linked, the engineering is still American, the parts although made in Australia are still American concepts. It's like saying Coca-Cola of Australia only has a certain type of ingredients, but the basis of the drink is still American.

  • No its not the only thing American about it is the engine. Same with Holden, though GM owned the new VE platform (Pontiac G8) is fully designed in Australia and engineered in Victoria at Holden development. Its the same with Ford Australia. Things like the Ford Anglia, Cortina, Capri etc are all made by local companies that produce under the Ford brand (Ford UK). This XB (MkII XA) is except for the V8s a fully Australian designed, engineered and manufactured car by a company under USA ownership.

  • The engine, the most important component ESPECIALLY since this is a muscle car. Where is the muscle? Under the hood.

It might be less American entirely than say a Ford Mustang, but its still Detroit.

  • Chet--no it's REALLY not. What you're saying is that because the engine is American, the whole car is American...by that logic the '67 Mustang used in Tokyo Drift was a Japanese car since it used an RB26DET Skyline engine. That would make a Camaro dragster using a MOPAR big block a Dodge, right? What gnarkill keeps trying to tell you, but you won't listen, is that the entire car is designed and built in Australia, by a wholly-owned Australian company. They only outsourced THE ENGINES.

  • Same with my old Capri I had. It was built in Germany with German parts but has an "american design engine" Its still a German automobile though.

  • Ford Australia a division of Ford motor company of Detriot US.

  • Ford Australia is the Australian subsidiary of Ford Motor Company and was founded in Geelong, Victoria in 1925 as an outpost of Ford Motor Company of Canada, Limited. At that time, Ford Canada was a separate company from Ford USA. Henry Ford had granted the manufacturing rights to Ford in British Empire (later Commonwealth) countries (excepting the UK) to Canadian investors. In short, once and for all: Ford Australia is NOT an American company, and never was.

  • Being "granted manufacturing rights" is not the same as being part of a parent company; it's like being an independent contractor. As such, no part of Ford Australia has ever been owned by the Ford Motor Company of Detroit. The 1960--read that again: 1960--Falcon was originally a US model adapted to Australian requirements and road conditions; however, since the release of the XA in 1972, all Falcons have been FULLY Australian designed. Besides the engines, NOTHING on this car is American.

  • Hush, you are a silly man and need to go research some more.

  • Your clever use of sarcasm is noted...and appreciated.

  • fake blower,...fake siren,... hes using a speaker to imitate a blower sound and siren built into the car...cant fool me. Cool car but no real blower sucks on that

  • the video has been recorded in japan ?? there is a cube car in the back !!

  • Yes, it is so. Interceptor is very popular among some the manias as of now in Japan.

  • It's a TOYOTA Bb... or Scion in America

  • Beautiful

  • bad ass! wonder what kind of engine it has?

  • If it is original, the motor is a Ford 351 Cleveland.

  • yes 351 Cleveland, you guys in the US and A use a Winsor in your Fords, or the 'Stang atleast.

    the way to tell:

    Winsor sounds like...wheezy hugh grant!

Cleveland sounds like Satan pissed cause hes got no booze and smokes!

    XD

  • Ha!Ha!

It might be "LAST V8" extremely original near.

  • if the owner reads this name your price. i need that motor!

  • Can someone please buy me one.

  • That's 10 stars!!!!!

  • yeah its the ford falcon XB interceptor..

  • its not mid night spares... its running non empty classic movie...i remember when it came out ..just 10 years old ..the 55 chev is really a fb holden made in aussie land ...cheak it out very small not a chev ...and the ford got a wobble in the bottom end ....clasic

  • love this car..

    but it is not interceptor.

it is last of the v8

  • Is the only interceptor the Yellow, red, and blue one? The ford falcon XB Sedan?

  • Max's yellow, blue and black car was an Interceptor and the black car the Falcon XB was called a 'Pursuit Special'

  • It was also referred to as the "Black on black", then in the second film the Mechanic, Steve Spears, refers to it as "The Last of the V8 Interceptors, a piece of history.".

  • Well not everyones a knowatall MadMaxaholic like you Jake LOL ;-)

  • The Pursuit Special is the black Monaro being driven by the Nightrider, man I can't believe how often people get this mixed up :(

  • Yes and the Black Falcon was one too as it too was a "special" police car man it wasn't a regular duty 4 door police car like Sarse & Scuttle and Big Bopper & March Hares cars. Maxs yellow car was a more beefed up version than the regular sedan police cars. And word to the wise my friend,I eat shit and breathe everything MAD MAX so please don't bring your toenail clippers to a bazooka fight!

  • But the Falcon is n ever referred to as a "Pursuit Special" in the movies is it? In the first one the mechanic (who reminds me a lot of Ralphie from Mafia) says it's the "last of the V8s", never describes it as anything else, and in the second movie, the guy suspended by crane calls it the "last of the V8 Interceptors". Please correct me if I'm wrong, and do point out if there's a direct reference to the black Falcon being described as a Pursuit Special in any of the movies.

  • maybe the mechanic says its the last of the v8's as in the movie world i guess a depression was kciking in ( car company's stopped making cars as it was to costly) and finishes with a great war...

  • Max's famous XB GT coupe was duty-tasked as a "Pursuit Special", like the Nightrider's stolen Monaro, but the car itself was a V8 Interceptor.

  • Guys, guys, can't we all just get along? :) The Nightrider stole a "Pursuit Special". Max's yellow sedan, along with the "March Hare"--Sarse & Scuttle's ride--were marked "Interceptor". Roop & Charlie's "Big Bopper" sedan was marked "Pursuit". Max's Black on black Falcon was a "V8 Interceptor". The significance is that the V8 Interceptors were a dying breed in that day and age: most police departments had gone to high-performance, turbocharged 4 or 6-cylinder engines to cut fuel costs.

  • 「スーパーアメリカンフェスティバル」なのにあの車はオーストラリアのからー_ー

  • The best car in the world.

  • i love this car
