521pd-You're a wise ass, I've been flying Enstroms for 20 years and my father for nearly 40 years, it's THE best light training helicopter out there bar none, it sounds like you're bad mouthing it coz it's not as easy to work on than a R22 or Schweizer 300......lazy shit....not 1 fatal accident in the UK since certification, no other heli can boast this record, how many pilots have we lost flying the ubiquitous R22? Just coz you're a mechanic doesn't mean you know a good heli, obviously.
@gmantoys Do you know 521pd? I feel sorry for you if you do, I certainly wouldn't want a dork like him maintaining my helicopter! So he's a meter reader is he, he probably is bad at that too lol. One other point, if Enstroms are so bad why then do the Pasadena Police continue to use them and not the R22?
@gmantoys Thanks for that info, but they are still using the Enstrom for training and NOT a Robinson, surely if the Enstrom was as bad as 521pd says they would be using something else which kind of proves my point.
I've been flying and operating Enstrom helicopters for years and have never had a component failure. These helicopters go 100-hr to 100-hr with zero issues. Enstrom supports and stands by their products better than any company I have ever dealt with.
A helicopter is only as reliable as the mechanic who maintains the aircraft. Sounds like 521pd needs to find a new career.
Thank you so much Rudy Enstrom Jr. I'm so glad Engstrom is always there for you. By the way they have nothing better to do but help the five customers around the country that own their crappy product so that is not impressive. Hope you can get your parts after they go belly up from lack of orders you poor guy. Good luck!
I have owned an Enstrom for several years and have hundreds of hours on the aircraft and have had NO engine or componet failures. The key to success with any aircraft is proper maintenance and timely service by a factory trained mechanic. The hourly operating cost and downtime have been less that a Hughes 300 aircraft that I flew and with the exception of burning more fuel per hour is at or less than a Robinson R22 or 44. Per NTSB, they are one of the safest helicopters flying today.
Put down the crack pipe and back away from the computer. You are an obvious moron who knows nothing about helicopters. Enstroms are by far the safest and more reliable piston helicopters out there. I own one and have over 1300 hours in mine in just under 1 1/2 years with NO major issues and heaps of abuse and flying in the shaded area. Same cannot be said for others. So go back to the garage you came from and leave the real discussions to people who know what they are talking about.
Ok 'Roger Ram Jet' after 24 years of being a law enforcement helicopter technician with experience overseas & with over 10 different agencies I can write with 100% truth that 'Engstrom' are the folks on 'dope'. So my reply to you is shut your pie hole & be nice to folks that know a lot more than you "Mr. I know a thing or two about a thing or two' fly-boy!
don't worry about pd, he's bin on the sauce with his mates who carry guns :) it just his idea of a discussion.
I noticed a lazy liftoff with accompanying significant overspeed, the hover taxi was more of a low-level 'buzzing'....
Enstrom 10/10
Pilot 4/10
@pd... 'hey hey, rise and shine, it's a beeeoootiful day'

@350ZEDMAN, 521pd isnt even a mechanic, he reads meters in Pasadena. Thats what's so funny about his comments.

@350ZEDMAN
They only use that Enstrom as a trainer. They now have a new 500E and a couple of old OH-58's.

Enstrom is the biggest pile-o-junk helicopter made, after 24 years of helicopter maintenance I should know, Enstrom should ONLY ship these to China!

How hard can it be to maintain one helicopter?

Ok Bish, you tell me, one 'real' helicopter or one BIG lemon with blades? U Engstom lover U!

This 512PD is a mechanic for Pasadena Police in California. I wonder if his boss knows he feels this way since he works on Pasadena's Enstroms?

But yet, your an Enstrom mechanic, how ironic...

This guy is obviously a fixed wing pilot...good luck! Enstroms are nice helicopters, whis I could find one to fly, they are rare birds!
