She's a behmoth on the keyboard. Its like a runaway freight train, impressive and the strength and concentration is unbelievable. In my opinion only though its meant to be a bit cheeky and flirty. Didn't see any of that.
your virtuosity impresses me as always, I can't believe I missed your passage in belgium :( , do you plan on coming back here at some point or around there (france, netherlands, UK, ...) ?
technically perfect, really not like her, but much too fast, unfortunately, in the beginning... and true, this dress really is an insult -i like her Rachmaninov interpretations very much, though..
This is an example of both the artist and instrument perform with escellance!
Few pianos are capable of being played like that! And the sound of a Bosendorfer (in person) is fantastik! They go very well together - and compliment each other in a very beautiful way.
haha valentina makes the piece sound so hard to play with speed.(I cant play tis piece this fast either) I always make mistakes at the octaves at the ending and i have no idea how to correct that lols.
@ValentinaLisitsa who cares about the dress!!! This performance is unbelievable! This has been my favorite classical piano piece every since I took a music history class years ago, and I have constantly been searching for a video performance of this piece at a tempo as fast as you can play it here. You are the only one I have found so far! Incredible work.
@vicccccccxD you're wrong - actually the dress is very, very nice - tastes are different, isn't they?! This dress fits to the period of Paganini's piece.
Your own taste is not obligatory for others at all. And maybe you lack a bit fancy.
All i have to say is. HOOOOLLLLLYYYYY COOOOWWWWW!!!! 3:03 through the rest of the song is like jesus. she has chuck norris fingers. this prooves that chuck norris just got beaten to a pulp by her stupendous notes!!!!.
And all in all the part before 1>46 is easy to do sort of..It's just lifting your fingers enough to give a separated sound. Now that's the hard part of it
I've been watching all the possible performers in youtube and I like Valentinas performance most. I hope she is same good when performing live. DVD is ordered. Can't wait once I get it.
Fascinating! Everytime I watch your performance of this piece I get the urge to take up piano :D I'd like to ask you whether it's even possible for someone my age (20) to even learn to play good piano music, given a fairly good accordion background. Very few music schools will accept one as old as me, so I'm stuck with self-teaching. Do I even stand a chance?
meh... i don't like these tough pieces. they make me feel stupid when it comes to playing the piano. and the way she plays it... well lets just say she'd beat me by a mile at least, or probably twenty
Yes, but this brings a completely different character to the piece. If the notes weren't the same, one could argue they're different pieces because of the different impression they leave on the listener.
@themask70 I agree that it may be a tad too fast. I mean, she is a spectacular, gifted pianist (don't get me wrong... one of the greatest techniques alive), but it may be a tad quick.
That being said, I'd be very, very happy if I could even play this slightly slow, haha!
@Roner101 naaah kissin is better, she makes some small pauses here and there. i really dont think theres anyone that can rival kissin TECHNICALLY on this piece. shes pretty good though.
Yes Paganini wrote this for the violin. Listz simply took the theme from Paganini and rearranged this for the piano. Praise Listz for doing this because it this is way better than strings.
I like how Liszt transcribed a Paginini violin concerto into this excellent etude. And what a coincidence that it can really help with your technique on the piano.
Brilliant...actually, this video should be blocked from the audience, leastwise from those who want to learn playing on the piano since it looks like you need to be born on a different planet to do this.
@szellajos pontosan... Couldn't agree more... She has about ten invisible fingers picking out notes all over the place..... Pablo de Sarasate once commented "12 hours of practice a day, 7 days a week, and they call that genius???"
