  • I have this game and the Legend of Drizzt but can't find players to play. Guess I am playing solo. Thanks for the video.

  • @pjfrank You're welcome. Enjoy the game solo, and hopefully you will meet someone soon that you can invite to play along with you!

  • Ahhhhhh just spent 3 hours playing the legend of Drizzt. Lost 2 games on the run. Thought to myself "this is a bit tough". Just found out now you're supposed to draw a treasure card after every kill. Ahhhhh this would have helped soooo much. I really need to read rules properly. Thanks again, love the series and hope your having a nice vacation :)

  • @MattXang We had a GREAT vacation. But back and ready to get back to it. Glad we helped with a rules item there. Treasures DO help a lot :)

  • @MattXang

Hmm, you read the rules right, I think:

"When your Hero defeats a Monster, draw a Treasure card (see

page 13). You can draw only one Treasure card per turn, no

matter how many Monsters you defeat during that turn."

    And:

"Once per turn, you can draw a Treasure card when you defeat a

Monster. If you defeat more than one Monster in a turn, you still

draw just a single Treasure card."

So you don't get a treasure card for every kill, no, at least the way I understand it ...

  • Me and the wife are going to be getting into this. I think I will start with this game! I like the explanations!

  • Wow That really helped. thanks!

  • @gamesdisk You're very welcome, thanks for watching!

  • On that note, try a random alarm for the encounters. I play and let it run in the background, and when it goes off...encounter. I found that to actually be great. The way the game is now (in my humble opinion) is like running through a landmine field. I like the quiet tension between encounters where you start to worry....you know..."it's way to quiet to be good" feeling. Cheers and keep up the good work!

  • I do love this as i found the rule book very confusing and laid things out terribly. That being said, I still disagree with their habit of having encounters if you don't create a new tile in your turn. It get's absolutely silly with multi player as every step of the dungeon blows up, shakes, or poisens you. I'm thinking of running a random alarm app from my smartphone and using that instead. I mean honestly, it's silly that every step of the way down a hallway causes things to happen. ;)

  • @TheGunnerpup Haha, I played a game with my gaming group and we had a full set of heroes playing and we won in the end, but it was insanely difficult towards the end with all the monsters and events popping out. That said, I think we might have enjoyed that dramatic tension a little more than you were :)

  • Good luck on trying the LOTR game solo. You are going to need to mix your decks.

  • @dungeon666666 I'm going to give it a go with single sphere. I know it's harder that way, but I've been enjoying the challenge of it. I have won a couple times, but most of the time I am crushed. I've been holding off mixing the decks, because I knew I wanted to show how the game plays right out of the box.

  • @WatchItPlayed Cool, can not wait. This is 1 of my favorite games. I know the rules rather well, so do not be afraid to send me a message if you have any questions.

  • I was wondering what the first game in the intro is called?

  • @Aarowen That's Mansions of Madness, we did a video series on that game as well, but under a different channel. Do a search for "Let's play Mansions of Madness" and you should find it.

  • Great choice for the next game!

  • Hi, Rodney!. Just a technical question. Which software do you use to edit this videos, add special effects, music, sounds, etc?

    Thank you!! :)

  • @Erni1313 Hi Erni. I use the Adobe product line when I can. It's what I'm most familiar with.

  • Great game choice, I'm looking forward to watching it play out. I wasn't originally interested in this series, but the rules explanation has changed my mind.

  • @trevorscroft I'm really glad to hear that! This game does have some fun surprises, I hope it wins you over.

  • Hi. I really like your Intro !!! It's very incredible to see how fun and excitement drive such a production! Gonna enjoy more of it ... !

  • @antonausallerwelt Well, I've been lucky to have enthusiastic viewers like yourself. That keeps me going!

  • So much to say, forgot the other part of the feedback: It's my humble opinion but I liked the "dark and dirty" basement from Mansions of Madness. It's not bat at all right now, but it kinda gave a good atmosphere for that game, and would also work for this one. Thanks for video upload!

  • @drowmetal Yes, I did lose some of the atmosphere, I noticed that too :) I am glad to have that SQUEKY chair gone though, lol.

  • And the my first feedback is: Totally awesome. This is one of the games I can pick up for a nice price, I already play D&D 4TH and those miniatures would be welcome here and I was already going for one of them, maybe two. But I was waiting for The Legend of Drizzt. But now I'm uncertain, I think I'm gonna pick up two of them, this one or Castle Ravenloft, and Drizzt's one later.

Is there any reason why I should pick up one or another? Or should I choose wich one I'd want to have the miniatures?

  • @drowmetal I would reccomend Wrath over Ravenloft - only because Wrath has better treasure (as I understand it), and has a slick little campaign mode built right into it.

  • Oh my god, finnaly! I'm starting to collect board games now, started with catan, mansions of madness and the third would be the Drizzt one, you can see by my nick name that I'm a fan of drows. Will watch the whole video before posting my commentaries. Omg, 24 mins of awesomeness! Yay!

  • @drowmetal lol, hope that enthusiasm helps you survive 24 mins of rules overview :)

  • @WatchItPlayed What? I buy RPG books just to read the books and some of them I've never even played. It's a hobby of mine to read rules! And now I can watch videos about it!

    Got a few questions:

You only get to level 2?

Any big difference between this one and Castle Ravenloft?

Can we use healing surges before going down (thus avoiding some kind penalty?)

Won't Andrea be part of the videos?

Won't you ever tell your son "Luke, I am your father."?

  • Sweet.

Looking forward to the rest of the series, even if 4th Edition rules make my head hurt...

  • @IronSyndicate Oh, why? They are much more simple than the previous versions, in fact the bad thing is that it got TOO simple.

  • @drowmetal Yeah... I was raised on AD&D, so I'm used to that... Give me THAC0, I know what to do. This... maybe I'm just not "hip" to play D&D anymore, at my ripe age of 26 :P

  • @IronSyndicate I'm 24 and I'm the Dungeon Master! But I know what you mean, a couple of months ago I got tired of playing D&D and I'm running a Gurps Cyberpunk campaign right now. But after I've seen this video I kinda wanted to play D&D again, the 4th edition seems more like a board game than a RPG like the previous versions.

  • @drowmetal Sadly, I got out of RPGs a long time ago, I moved and couldn't find a gaming group.

I kind of wish I could find one to play with, which is why I love this series.

  • @drowmetal I do have to agree with you about D&D 4th mechanics. My current gaming group doesn't played the previous versions and have a problem thinking outside a game board.

  • Do you "full heal" when you level?

  • @FlexDoRight There is no indication in the rules to indicate so. Looks like your total capacity for HP's just increases. I even checked the Legend Of Drzzzt rules which are on the internet, to see if they mentioned anything.... they don't

  • @WatchItPlayed It's a varient we've used before to make the game a bit easier... not that leveling up happens all that often :)
