@renewd it's not to hard to interpret the lyrics. You can't be 100% sure if you're right though. Here's what I think: "Please don't drive 88" 88 is the speed you must go to time travel and time traveling got old after a while for Marty. "I don't want to be late again" means Marty doesn't want to be late to Jennifer again. "I just wanna sit at home and play my guitar" obviously it means Marty would rather stay home and play guitar or something than have to fix a paradox. This is what I got, and
the ending to this movie is stupid if the doc had read the letter merty gave him telling him he was going to get shot why didnt he just not buy the uranium from the terriosts instead of putting on a bulletproof vest
@stewy722 its not uranium its plutonium(plutonium is made of metal and uranium though) and he couldnt buy them since they were looking for people to build a nucular bomb so if he was going to buy it theres no point to go there and paradox will occur so the time machine had no fuel for the test run

To me "don't wanna be late again" probably refers to not wanting to be late to save the Doc from the Libyans for a second time when he goes back to 1985 from 1955 (not sure of exact dates). Then "please don't drive 88" would mean he doesn't want to go back to 1985 (because he would be late again!) Unfortunately, this would leave him stuck in 1955.
Love this tune. Is this great 80s power pop or what? This band really rocks. HL & TN never seemed to get the credit they deserved. I heard them live at Summerfest in Milwaukee. They were awesome. Really sharp musicianship and Huey can belt out a tune live with real power. Like The Who, their studio recordings just don't capture the energy and power they generate live. I realize that pretty much applies to all bands, but the gap is especially wide with HL & TN and The Who.
