  • REAL SCHOOL.

  • old school so simple and pure compared to the illuminate crap these days..now these guys had soul, unlike the new school niggaz who sold their soul ..

  • When i think back, my first memories of rap was hearing marly marl beats. I was 7 in 85. Roxanne Shante was really the first mc i ever heard and thought was cool. I proably heard others like melly mel and curtis blow but roxanne shante was the one that made me really notice rap. I think it was marly marl beats that made me pay that attention. His beats are like the soundtrack to the 80s

  • love the classics, i remember buying this from a Birmingham record shop back in the day.... way back.

  • tune.

  • The young kids dont like this

  • Love that 'Marley Marl is one heck of a man' scratch at the end, perfect bit of scratching.

  • The 7 people who pressed dislike need to off themselves...

  • i agree cheetie72! black music is on this constant regurgitated cycle! you guys do realize rap music is the last thing we've done in the last 30 years? nuthin new has come out ! i cant even call these today r&b cats real singers! it's some little idiot with an autotune squeakin over yet another rap-oriented beat! and yeah theres always some hood coon yappin thru half the song! rap music has suck the life out everything! nobody really tries to do something else. the only one tryin is andre 3000

  • @ozulu45 LOL, So you are a brotha!!!

  • @musiqgem iam from the dark side of humanities fears, i cross thru dimensional worm holes, corrupting the souls who try to find the LIGHT out of the DARKNESS! the ancients call me NATAS! join the brood, for the end is coming! pain and suffering is the only salvation! hahahahahahahaha!

  • The bridge is over mc Shan and marley marl r not even close to krs one krs one is da best I don't like mc Shan.SOUTH BRONX

  • @jahil2011 sorry them CATS made better harder beats than the BRONX cats did back then! out hear in the WEST we played that shit more than BDP! seems like in the studio BDP didnt use alot of 808's on there first album. they couldve used CED GEE more.

  • Went to see the Cold Chillin World tour in 1985 at Rock City in Nottingham, lied about my age, was 14, Bombed the Bogs with a huge silver and black throw up, tagged most of the bar area, Big Daddy Kane, Shante, Kool G Rap, Polo, Bizmark E, and Marley Marl and Shan did a monster set afterwards, had to go home, well pissed off, lived 15 miles away and no late busses on a Sunday... still not as good as BDP at the fridge though..

  • @chapstar37 god dam bro thats hardcore gold-hope u never forget that, ppl these days wouldnt have a clue

    word up!

  • classic shit....thats hip hop

  • Krs One hit the dislike button 5 times. Although I love KRS One as well he's wrong for doing that.

  • . . . always * F r e s h * !

  • Classic!! I have this copy , excellent post!!. Lets not forget Beat Biter extended version with the blue label, white jacket on Bridge Records, with the Bridge on the back!!!. Beat biter was the response to rock the bells when he thought LL stole his shit(LMFAO)!!! do ya history you LIl Wayne listening to faggots!! I'm 38 years old I dont wanna hear him or no fuckin Niki Minaj!!! . Salute to funkyvinyl junkie for puttin this shit up!!!!

  • This page is for reeeeeeeeeeal hiphop lovers. Ya heard me.

  • @avalanchecanvass

i just know a wrestler with this name

he can't even use a unique Name , might be like his beats .. unimportant

  • This song kicked off Electro 8 (a chrome tape as well..HD back in the day) used to walk round wid this pompin' out the 3D super-woofer big style..bass & treble right up.

  • Best song Shan ever did!

  • @avalanchecanvass ARE YOU RETARDED OR JUST STUPID. what do you mean trying to sound cool, you obviously don't have a clue what true hip hop is

dont post here ever again. you are an idiot. there would not be a lex luger withou pioneers like marley marl red alert and others.

  • REAL HIPHOP!!! today'swanna be mcee's. need learn from old school rappers.

  • @avalanchecanvass Please, never leave a comment on a video like this ever again, I bet if you asked any MC of today or back then who is a better better dj they would say marley marl. Also, you can't even compare the two, they got different styles, you dumb fuck, and if you didn't know this shit is old school rap/hip hop, better than half the bullshit garbage rappers put out today

  • some of my favorite hiphop drums! Ill never forget this one!

  • Hotness "YO"!!!

  • nothin better in the world

  • Who the fuck disliked this?!

  • @xenoxaos: Some sucker MC!!!

  • @xenoxaos Some newscool sucka or some hippie or some lil'wayne lovin' so & so.

  • @cheetie72:

I knew as soon as I scrolled down I'd find some comment about Lil Wayne.

  • @thapoint09 OH SHIT DOG, I'M SORRY! DIDN'T KNOW YOU LIKED LIL'WAYNE. I always knew their were people my age who love corporate, watered down hiphop with no lyrical format, and a dj just standing in the back twirlin' records, but you hear no scratch. Yeah, I know it's fools who like that shit. But each to his own.

  • @cheetie72:

First for all... slow your roll.

Second, I NEVER said I liked Wayne, nor was there anything in my comment that implied I did. I was saying that on every Hip-Hop song there always at least one comment saying teh usual "thsi rocks, Wayne sucks" stuff.

Third, I can't STAND his music. he sounds like a frog with dreads and can't write to save his life.

Fourth, and finally, think for a few second before making stupid assumptions.

  • @cheetie72 First of all homeboy.....wasn't tryin' to make assumptions on yo' behalf, and if I did SORRY DOG! You see, I work with a bunch of Lil' wayne fans tryin' to tell me what real hiphop is, and that he can out rap Cool J etc. Not Just Lil Wayne, any rapper that's out today they try to compare to ol'school hiphop. Don't even like any of today's black music but a few songs. Just not enough black soul power init anymore.

  • @xenoxaos:

    Someone who doesn't like Hip-Hop.

  • @xenoxaos 7 knuckleheads, i can't figure it either...

  • @xenoxaos

7 old people from the bronx

  • @xenoxaos this is a classic

  • @xenoxaos Clarence Thomas?

  • @xenoxaos 7 fucktards did that's who :D

  • @xenoxaos The old school haters...fucking idiots.

  • They don't make 'em like this anymore! Shell top Adidas, Kangol hat and Cazal glasses was that ish!

  • if u want to read how MC Shan and ton of the other most complex and innovative emcees do their rhyme writing, they were all itnerviewed in a book that's called, :HOW :TO ;RAP which is easily the greatest book ever put out bout real hiphop

  • Wow this takes me back......cuttin & scratchin! Nothing comes close....old school forever wins :-)

  • I've notice that old school mc's put their souls into their materials. With creative and tight lyrics and hard beats. The old school DJ's were 2nd to none.

  • awwwww yeaaa!

  • DOPE beat

  • Thats whats up!

  • veary olddddddddddddddddddd skooooooooolllllllllllll love it

  • Comment removed

  • i still can remember the first time i heard this song. still one of my favs all time.

  • The perfect breakdance battle track. I should know, nylon puma outfit went well with cardboard and a eight battery boombox. This was how we stayed out of trouble and stayed fit.

  • @TheJedi365

For sure, the puma track suits with the one big stripe down the arms, full zipper, no hood.

Hard toe adidas with fat laces.

  • MC SHAN MY FAVORITE MC

  • What the? Kanye doesnt belong in a convo with Marley and Shan!

  • Got tons of original old school joints from the early 80's for sale, hit me if interested.I also have this for sale.

  • Sorry Premier and Dr. Dre.

But Marley Marl is the One and Only Greatest Hip Hop Producer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I absolutely hate when people say all rappers suck today, get your ass off your high horse and listen too something we all listen too. (im not sayin classics are bad)

  • @Intergalactiic Im a true OLD schooler and watching hip hop for us is like watch a child grow into a whore,Im not say that all new music sucks. But outside Kanye no1 has really CHANGED THE GAME if they cause they all sound the same.

  • @osostl i completely agree that Kanye is THE greatest change in hip-hop since the 90's. His movement led to alot of great new artists though, and hip-hop is now getting that more musical and artistic sound it had in the 80's. 90's rap is good too, but in terms of intelligence (Tupac and Biggie led to alot of gangster rap) and art, Kanye is bringing it back.

  • @Intergalactiic Kanye is FAR from ANYTHING in the pop scene (notice, pop, not hip hop or rap). Kayne's total unoriginality, canned beats, dull cuts, and lyrics born from a thesaurus. I don't think so. He needs to get behind the wheel of a car with Chris Brown and find their way into head on with a train.

  • @Intergalactiic well when i turn on the radio nowadays, i usually put a gun to my head

  • MY MY MY MY MY NAME IS MC SHAN

  • Happy B-Day, Marley..

  • this one of the records that sealed my love for hip hop. the first track on side two of electro 8-how i love that album...

  • At 41 years old there was no internet but now I am on this thing all day long! We are truly advancing, the human race. Even music has changed. Being saved I finally see how we must be selective about what we listen to, even the stuff we consider to be benign must be monitered. But some stuff are classics that mark and era of change. I like it because it has rhythm.

  • i just got goose bumps , love it still sounds great!! thanks for post

  • i want this playin in my casket when i drop.

  • Old Skool is tight, but we gotta move on, take that mainstream bullshit and make it sound good. I personally love Snoop's new shit, but you can't beat the classics.

  • i was born in the wrong era man, not only for this old skool shiet, but for all 80's music

  • @superjoesakic91 Nah man.. keep your priorities in line and refuse to listen to the garbage being pushed nowadays.. you'll hang in there just fine.

  • this shit is dumb dope

  • WOW! This brings back serious memories! I used to love this record..WRKS-FM (98.7 Kiss). Was ground braeking in playing the greatest music! Miss those days!!

  • Marley give em' example how a dee jay werks!

  • I always liked Shan because not only is his style smooth but you can understand all of his lyrics.

  • This is Hip Hop

  • Basic, to the point, creative, just hard....hip hop like this....never again, I treasure this forever, the real shit! - 1:41= "mc's brag about themselves all through their rhymes, you could see I got quality, why waist my time!" classic! not like today..i admit, I also brag, but here I give props to the pioneers, jammed back then, and still jam now!!

  • I know a girl name Anna from Louisianna
