he said that its good for people with small hands and i have big enough hands i can reach the slide release on a 1911 without changing my grip and im still comfortable with it no weird bending of the fingers.
I've been dry-firing mine so many times at home to show my family how to use it and never encountered any problem! So idk if this is a new issue or an old one that was fixed with the new ones (I recently bought mine so that's what I would assume). Also I've never been pinched by the grip safety either so maybe another thing they may have fixed!
Thanks for the info. Speaking of voices though has anyone seen the mens warehouse commercial where some guy in a suit is talking and his voice is so rash it sounds like he just smoked a cigar through a tracheotomy? I dont hear a problem with this guys video.
I also had the same problem, though my pin did not break it would start backing out when shot. Just got new pins in the mail today from springfield gonna install this week. Customer service was great and pins arrived within days. I also found aftermarket replacement pins at brownells boasting they would withstand dry firing, however springfield said they do not recommend any aftermarket parts for their firearms.
I had the same problem with my XDM 3.8 9mm,,Striker retainer pin broke before even using live rounds..It was my first pistol,so as any other new toy,i try to dry fire and get my self familiarize with it..Still waiting for parts..nice helpfull vids,,atleast i know that it's not only me that noticed this flaw..cheers..
I noticed your magazine was loaded to full capacity with your self defense rounds.... I would strongly advise against that... It is adding too much pressure on the spring an you may notice a Failure to Feed... Which could be bad in a self/home defense scenario... I own the XdM 9 also and for my personal defense rounds keep only about 15 in it!
Awesome.. and very informative video man!!! I bought my first two pistols..XDM 45 and a Gen 4 Glock 22. I was told by random people that you can dry fire the XDM all you want like a Glock, but now I know that is wrong!! It's weird, because I know the XDM is a nice pistol, but I always felt like I'm going to have to "baby" it, which I dont like!! So Im gonna sell it and get a Gen 4 Glock 21 .45 as soon as they come out cause after owning both, Glock is clearly a superior weapon.
@redneckfuller1977 Incorrect. Dry firing a 1911 or a Glock will not damage your gun at all apart from the normal wear that it would experience from normal shooting anyways. It all depends on how the gun is designed. The XDm and also Kahr guns have a firing pin that has a notch in the middle where a pin is inserted to stop the forward motion of the firing pin. With these designs, dry firing will damage the firearm.
Check out Powder River Precision they have some really nice hop ups for the XDm. The laser cut rubberized grip is great from PRP and I think you would like the oversided grip safety from Springer Precision. Great video man and your voice is fine. All you were doin was a review of the gun whats that guy lookin for a motivational speaker.
Hey man, some people use the Youtube comment section to soothe their painfully low self-esteem. I thought your video was great. I was unaware of the potential dry firing issue. Thanks for the info!
@RangerStranger5 Thank you. Glad you found it informative. I too had never heard of this dry fire issue until I was in a match and the roll pin started backing out. Apparently I was dry firing too much at home. Everyone always says dry firing won't hurt the gun but after detail stripping my XDm I realized that that was not the case for this gun. The Glock and 1911 firing pin assemblies function differently from the XDm and thus CAN be dry fired without any issue.
@DG121480 I am sorry you didn't find my voice "confident" enough. Hopefully you still found my video informative. If you have any questions on the XDm or any other firearm in my videos feel free to ask and I will try my best to answer in a confident way :D
@HARDNADER I never said it was a bad video. His voice doesn't exude confidence. That's all! I'm simply speaking my mind on a publicly accessible video. After all, that IS what the comment section is for, right? Sounds like some people around here need to grow some thicker skin.
Thank you for video!

How else are you supposed to de-cock the weapon without dry firing it?
Jordonbrowo 1 month ago
btw when installing roll pins check first to see if one side is smaller than the other... smaller go's in first...

These dry firing issues seem to be weird. Since this is a modern firearm, they should be able to withstand dry firing many times...

That pin breaking makes me question the quality of these pistols. Although I don't dry fire weapons for no reason haha

TheEnder42 FYI Kahr pistols do not even remotely have the same firing pin setup as the XDM. Just sayin...

I've seen aftermarket striker retainer pins that are supposed to be stronger than the stock ones, which can supposedly handle dry firing.

I've dried fired mine hundreds of times w/o issue. I've also removed the pin many times w/o issue. Its not that hard to remove and reinstall.
