@shell7199 keep trying!! don't give up. i was about to when i was 12 but after i joined all city orchestra, i was motivated again. trombone is really fun to play so don't give in!!!
considering that i could play this just like him at age 2, and im white, should make him want to comitt suicide, fore he has failed all asians and their perfectionism lol jks I FELLED A TREE
One of my most favorite songs played by the instrument I played in high school (but not even CLOSE to sounding like this!) Beautifully done. I'm glad I found this on YouTube today. :)
so beautiful! thanks so much for this. i have a 12 year old daughter who is just starting trombone and this will inspire her as to what she might be able to do someday. lovely song and rendition!
Slide vibrato in the right hands is an essential component of ballad playing. Some examples that come to mind are Tommy Dorsey.Dick Nash, Si Zentner. Don Lusher, Joe Howard and Murray McEachern to mention as few. All of these gentlemen are available for your perusal on you tube and all are and were masters of the slide vibrato. Your arrogance for such a young age 17? is quite appalling!!
@allintheuniverse You completely failed to address or counter my point at all sir. All you did there was make a list of names of people who use a vibrato, good job.
@musician992008 No chip here, just tired of seeing that. Regardless of the quality of the vibrato, people always claim it's not there because that person didn't move his/her slide. I personally hate vibrato's like that, it gives a flat sound... Sure it still goes flat if you lip it, but only if you don't have proper control.
Don't think being a "pro" or being 40 earns you anything here. I'm 17, aspiring, and pretty good. But equally as knowledgable as you or anyone else in the matter.
NObody has a damn blue where to get this music do they? I'd very much like to play use this for audition music for the quartz mountain orchestra, I'll sub w/e you want if you can get it much appreciated.
Trombone for the win! This is the kind of playing that makes me want to keep going with trombone - and not be so jealous of sax. Once again, does anyone know where I can get the sheet music?
@JoeJohnRiver5 there both the same. just one has a dictatorship which stole and killed many south koreans. i understand that you may not have the average IQ, but you should be able to understand when i say SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU DUMBASS CUNT.
absolutely gawjus mate, tone was lush, slide technique precise, although i would say that maybe too much gliss in some areas and that u could vary the dynamic range even tho i know its a quiet piece, overall - Lovely
i appreciate the compliment, but no, i am not a professional. i am a trombone player, though and have been one for many years. i started in the fifth grade and went through high school. i played one year in college band for non-credit..in other words i just joined. 10 years later i joined a 'community band' of around 60-70 players in lake charles, la. we would put together a free concert every 2-3 mo. while i played for them, i took private lessons from a low brass professor from the college.
'moonriver' was written by the legendary composer/arranger henry mancini. his first big hit was the theme song from ''peter gunn'', one of the earliest t.v. crime dramas in the late '50's and early '60's. he then followed it with such memorable hits as ''baby elephant walk'', ''theme to the pink panther'',''love theme from 'romeo and juliet' '', ''mr. lucky'' and ''theme song from 'hatari' ''. he won an unprecedented 20-something grammys and many other awards. his home instrument was the flute.
stick with it. it's the best all-round and versatile instrument every invented. this asian fellow took a timeless classic by the late and great henry mancini and made it so nice. he's using a technique you'll encounter later called ''legato''. it's difficult to explain and even harder to master. it involves using the tongue to interrupt air flow just long enough to move the slide and not get a ''smear'' . the slide and the tongue work must be simultaneous. this is too hard for beginners.
This trombonist is also using what I would call a sliding sforzando which is just tagging a note then doing what you can as a slur to the next note seeing as basically the trombone is not really a slurring instrument.
I beg to differ :P, slurring is harder, sure. When you find the technique for it however, it sounds so much better ! Not to mention you can slur up the harmonics of the instrument.
a sforzando is when you accent a note forte and then go piano immediately after than crescendo over the rest of it. And the trombone is a perfect instrument for slurring.
I also play the trombone...and i have to say: Its great! Its wonderful! Amazing! But please, can somebody tell me, where to get the notes or send me please!!! I love this song! Thx :)
lip vibratos sound alot better than wiggling your slide on trombone. i dont think anybody does "slide vibrato" if that exists...this is why youre 6th chair. nubmuffin

2. He IS using a very light "lip" vibrato. It's done by altering the teeth width using the jaw hinge joint. It isn't as obvi- ous as slide vibrato audibly or visably. Sort of like: Did I hear it or not?....that kind of subtle.

QUESTION~
i play trombone, and i've only heard
"slide vibrato" once...
if they mean wiggling the slide,
it's just like a valve tremor only smaller...
so why do people say vibrato...?
vibrato is like adding a more distinct wave, not changing pitch...
(((((REMINDER-THIS IS A QUESTION!!!
NOT A RANT!!!)))))

lip vibratos sound alot better than wiggling your slide on trombone. i dont think anybody does "slide vibrato" if that exists...this is why youre 6th chair. nubmuffin
