  • Puma!!!! I'm starting to love youuuuu!!!

  • MUY BIEN PUMA

  • NO BOX !!!!!?????

Where shall i put now all those unnecessary little things that used to end up in Puma boxes* on my shelf?

    *(...or Adidas ;)

  • a weeks, work billed out over 21 months.. not rocket science, same shit different day.. Puma should reduce the amount of shoes they sell, to reduce the impact on the enviroment..

  • after so long, i have yet to see them in the local stores....

  • what's the name of the music? please

  • 24 people are Hitler

  • What about the box? which went in the bag - so now what do we do with that

  • @trosun2000 nooooooooo we need to think 21 months again

  • Finally!!! Phew

  • Puma is great.

  • Thank you for sharing.

  • Good video.

  • I love the video. However, the whole 'no box' concept is somewhat destroyed by the fact that there is indeed a box 'inside a bag'.

  • @ayeshaa876 try prezi.com it is similar but not the exact same

  • There is no more box, its a bag with corrugated board inside to separate the shoes. They need to have some corrugated board in their package so there is stacking strength so the shoes don't get smashed and ruined. The bag is there because after you buy a pair of shoes, you throw the box out, the idea with the bag is to be used again which would be considered recycling. If you want the job to do this than go to college and become a packaging major.

  • THIS IS GREAT!!!!!

  • @hilmir The only thing that is empty here is the rather grandiose statement "the best box is no box" when their design employs what is quite clearly a box. Anyone who gets paid for 21 months to take the lid off a cardboard box and bundle it in a 'bag for life' solution is infinitely more cynical than my original statement could ever dream of being.

  • @hilmir Is it cynical to state a fact? They say the best box is no box. Then they show a 'cardboard support structure' which is - to all intents and purposes - a box without a lid. The dictionary of a box is as follows: "a container with a flat base and sides, typically square or rectangular and having a lid." The only difference to this and your "cardboard support structure" is the absence of a lid... which I believe I referred to when I said "without a lid". I'm stating a fact.

  • the box is complicated, apparently uses two different materials, the cover doesn't cover the inner box, and it looks weird...consider making a sturdy paper bag and nothing else. these are sneakers, they'll withstand it.

  • I LIKE IT. GOOD!!

  • I LIKE IT, GOOD!!

  • Really, 2 years for that? Why PUMA just doesn't use only the bag, instead of another type of paper box with bag fiber? Oh, I get it! Because IT'S ALREADY THINKING! Resuming, great marketing with this ad, great initiative from PUMA about enviromental issues, now, CLEVER !??! I don't think so..

  • @marcubanus PUMA sold their shoes around the world so they need to have paper structure inside the bag to prevent shoes being smashed while shipping or stacking at their warehouse. This is common sense...

  • @vitorpica - apparently this AWESOME movie, design, and strategy just couldn't overcome your inability to get the not-so-subtle message. awesome box you say? the point of the entire production - IT DOES NOT USE A BOX! NO BOX!

  • Comment removed

  • I'm a sales associate for puma the whole design of it is a hassle on our part.

  • MAN this is awesome, congrats to the people of marketing and design...awesome box, awesome movie, awesome design, awesome strategy!

  • How about a box made of recycled and/or biodegradable micro flute? With the benefits of: stackability for merchandising in self help brick and motar retail stores, provides a home storage container for the buyer. Can't ship in either the old shoe box or bag for e commerce- will still have to over pack. Why not a micro flute container that is biodegradable, stiff for merchandising, durable for shipping, great print surface, and can be used as a home storage container? 10 min vs 21 mos!

  • I steal Puma shoes without boxes (that rich people would buy) and give them to poor people.

I too, can save the environment.

  • For those of you who say Puma should sell it without any cardboard to hold the shoes in place...would you buy expensive shoes without some 'box'?

  • Would you say this video was made using flash?

  • @paktechhandlegirl more likely after effects, the speed and smoothness of clip changes hint at AE

  • whats the name of this song??

  • AWESOME !!!!

  • great project, great video - congrats puma!

  • is this international? and does this apply to every shoe?

  • Good idea from PUMA!!!

  • But what will students put their dioramas in?! ;)

  • Show de Bola, Good Idea.. !!! tank's

  • soooo cool!!

  • whats the video suondtrack

  • Omg, someone please tell me the Name of the Song!! :/

  • its obvious that many don't know much about the environment and business all together. 21 months simply to make a design, make sure it works (operationally, stacking, shipping) n 2 c what is d best way to cut as many emissions. Yes the bag is 100% recyclable n so is cardboard but its a lot more heavier to transport, remember why they charge u extra now for luggage on planes. PUMA does not do child labor, pls educate your self on this. This is a great idea n its too bad not enough are follwing

  • What about the bag? is it also eco-friendly? Because plastic bags are also a huge environmental problem....

  • @eches00 it's canvas, and highly reusable. not plastic at all :)

  • Its a good advert but doesn't really show you how the system works, even though it may be intuitive in real life, its absent right now before me, so how useful is that?

  • excellent! but know where am i gonna put all my random mixtapes ? boxes offer so much organized area ! :P

  • We should see a trend. Nike and Converse should be next. Great job PUMA.

  • We should see a trend. Nike and Converse should be next. Great job PUMA.

  • We should see a trend. Nike and Converse should be next. Great job PUMA

  • do they really think we are that dumb??

  • Nice.. but this has already been done.. about 20 years ago for the British Shoe Corp!!

  • Brilliant!!!

  • good example of greenwash

  • what's sad is that this is considered revolutionary. if such small changes can produce such drastic pro eco results, why can't all companys just make a small change?

or worse yet, WHY DON'T COMPANIES THINK OF THESE SMALL THINGS AND BIG CONSEQUENCES BEFORE PUTTING STUFF ON THE MARKET?

    plastic bags...REUSABLE BAGS

    plastic bottles...REUSABLE BOTTLES

    paper products....RECYCABLE PAPER PRODUCTS

seriously...it's like they think "if we can pay for it, who cares what it does?"

  • Wait so what's the point.... they switched from a box to a bag??? and is a bag that is put up by some kind of cardboard pattern thing??? and the cardbord thing comes with every shoes....or... what??? I don't get it...wow marketing is the future....They made me want to buy a pair of shoes just because they won't sell them to me in a box but in a bag...Marketing rocks!!!!

  • nice

  • Hmm, what is it made from?

What did you color it with?

How long will it take to degrade?

(nice bright red puma color, sure it was necessary in the name of "saving")

    VERY CLEVER BRAND management

  • Maybe Puma should cease having their trainers produced in countries like China and Indonesia if they really want to cut down on emissions!

Getting rid of a bit of cardboard isn't the answer.

  • El zeitgeist del marketing

  • And as a side effect the shoes cointained in this clever little bag will be cheaper for the buyer, of course! That's genius. Thank you Puma! :-p

    No? Wait...

  • @gespertino lol..exactly. I have a feeling they will say we have to pay a lil more because making this is not as cheap. Catch 22 as always. Remember when COFFEE was going to kill us all?? Now we all walk around like idiots with a starbucks coffee cup glued to our hand.

  • You can package things in BAGS? Oh. My. Lord. This has rocked my world.....

  • So now that bag needs a box to cover it until reaches to the buyer... to prevent degradation

  • What do they call this sort of video with the kind of animation that's in it? Could anyone point out an example?

  • Puma innove et transforme ses boîtes à chaussures en sac recyclables !

Plus d'infos sur la page zegreenweb sur Facebook.

  • *round of applause*

    they've got to start somewhere!

  • beautiful.

  • good

  • Puma! You make me proud! :D

  • I like the new idea, and indeed it's good for the envirement etc. x

  • The most effective way to be sustainable is to make educated purchases. As long as people buy 3 pairs of shoes per year, and dump "old" pairs which they simply lost interest in but could be used longer, we won't be sustainable.

There is another concept called "planned obsolescence" which also plays a role. If you're interested, search "Zeitgeist Movement" and listen to Jacques Fresco speak.

  • i have a better idea. how about stop buying pointless crap? join me in burning down these companies.

  • i like puma :) i also like this song ! hehe

  • My favourite bit on this video is when they say the best type of box if no box. Then show you a box without a lid. In a bag.

  • @DJHELLO haha either way it's a good thing. plus that lidless box is much thinner

  • @DJHELLO i am not saying i am a big fan of this but this video has some part cut out, there's actually something in between the "best box, no box" and "box without lid", watch the full video :)

  • @DJHELLO that is not a box, it is a cardboard support structure. in the old design, it is the "guilty" material, because it require assembly (glue, manpower) and that it was paper. This concept reduces this guilty material, so you actually reuse the red bag for other usage. And it also eliminates the need for a plastic carrier when you buy the shoes. it's easy to be cynical, isn't it. but yet, it's empty. like the box.

  • Concept seems great. I wonder when I'll see one though. And doubt if I ever will..

  • How about this. Stitch a stiffened central panel into the bag and add a flap on the top. BINGO no cardboard! Out of interest I wonder how they ship to store like this? I can't see how they would stack in freight?

Then again it would be totally stupid if they were shipped in carboard boxes of one description then removed from those in store and placed in these to be taken out of the store wouldn't it... wouldn't it? Surely...

  • 21 months? To replace a box with a bag? I think Yves saw you coming. If you're looking for a way of eliminating cardboard altogether, give me a bell I'd be happy to charge you for 21 months of work.

  • @DJHELLO They took in consideration much more than you are. Reducing costs while still keeping production speed, and also become sustainable it´s hard. And That it´s not an ordinary bag. After using it you put the bag in hot water for 3 to 5 minutes, and it dissolves itself in the water. Think a little more before criticising.

  • A good start! Lets get all the manufacturers to follow suit.

    check this out.

FB page "I say NO to excess packaging!" find it and join the fun!

  • REALLY AMAZING

  • 21 FUCKING MONTHS?!?!?

Are you f kidding me.. jesus christ!

  • Nicee. n__n

  • [sarcasm] OMG They're selling shoes in bags now, that's so revolutionary! [/sarcasm]

  • こっちもおもしろいです

  • Here's a better shoe box: A stiffer "Paper" Bag.

  • I thought shoe boxes were 100% recycleable.. why not just ask customer if they want the box or not ? Give them a paper bag option.

  • Wow.

  • Nice !!

let us race to make a green world !

  • why not just forget the box all together and just put it in that bag?

  • stil has the same amount of cardboard in it anyway,,,,anyways pumas are women

  • product-design pays off

  • y on earth have some stupid people put dislike to this video, actully what is wrong with it, they are changing a box, thtats not shocking or to be hated and they are cutting down trees used etc so y have u put dislike, nothing better to do

  • You spent 21 months making a bag? Ever heard of priorities?

  • @ReaxkuTheFox

priorities? what comes first than saving millions of dollars in stupid boxes? ROFL

  • @aukanoob I bet those bags cost more to make, and it took them 21 MONTHS TO DESIGN A BAG!

  • @ReaxkuTheFox

    no they don't.

One of the main issues when projecting something is the cost reduction. It's aswell one of the first things industrial designers take into consideration. a nickle spared becomes a million in a short time.

  • Also how am I supposed to easily try on shoes now? I'm not going to sit there, and take apart, then put together this whole system.

  • @sahanatas because, you know, sliding shoes out of a bag is so much harder than opening a box, and digging though tons of tissue....

  • @goldkear

Have you seen the thing? It's what's in this video, inside of two pieces of recycled cardboard. So you take those two pieces off, open the bag, slide out the cardboard, try the shoes. Then you have to put the shoes back, put the back in correctly, then put the clamshell back on. I think it's easier to open the box, pull up the tissue paper, then try on the shoes. then put it back in and close it.

  • Umm, isn't carboard really easy to recycle? That red thing around it looks like it would take longer to break apart in a dump. lol

Why not have NO packaging? Just thow the shoes in one big pile. It will save even more. Sheesh idiots. Didn't all that sketching waste tons of paper? And those 21 months were waseful as well. These type of ads make me sick! Advertizing Tube is well on it's way!

  • That is incredible.

  • wwhaaat

  • It took them 21 months to get that idea? WoW We have some really bright sails regulators now a days

  • wait. so it took you how many YEAR to realize you don't need to sell shoes in a BOX. WOW. CLEVER.

  • @rickardo004 better late then never

  • @rickardo004 O come on, give credit where it's due. Not to many other companies are doing this.

  • @pria114 I know..i was being sarcastic LOL. And if you see the last design, they still use cardboard to hold the shoes in place. So in a way, there is still cardboard waste. Great job PUMA

  • @rickardo004 Did you think of it?

  • if you steal them from peoples houses, then theres no bag at all, every little helps

  • play with environment protection factor .. to increase ur sales

    OVERUSED

  • thnx

  • Whoa...Next time I buy sneakers, I'm buyin' PUMAS!!!!

  • I LOVE PUMA!!!!!!!!!!

  • lick my balls bitch

  • manero has access ae! /watch?v=8p9mxKtm2HE

    /watch?v=BbrGdwdiGZU

  • i steal shoes because i want to save the environment.

  • Now let's talk about presentation.

They took 1 minute and 26 seconds to tell us what went into making it and how it's going to help reduce waste, but they couldn't spend 5 seconds to tell us exactly how it works or what exactly it is made of ?

Puma sure does like to waste time.

  • I don't get it; isn't that cardboard I see inside the "bag" ?

The best idea was useing just a little less cardboard and putting it inside a bag, seriously ?

I understand that this wasn't the only idea and that the time was spent figuring out which idea was the best, but almost 2 years is ridiculous, there's no way it took them that long to research which idea was best.

    You fail Puma.

  • awsome :P looks cool.. but 21 months? xD :P

  • And The baGs are Now Diamonds...

  • 21 months... really, Yves Behar?

Paw Print, that was cute, lol

  • i like the boxes better, i still use them to protect my shoes, helps me keep my closet organized.

  • @Alxcode9 I think the interior cardboard structure will still allow for the same stackable abilities that an old-school shoebox has.

  • Cool

  • I use my shoe boxes....I have a ton in my closet. :)

  • it took them 21 months to think this bull shit up?

  • i work retail and i wish EVERY shoe company would switch to this idea.

when i sell a box of shoes i hve to open it, search thru the tissue to find the shoe. take all the tissue out of both shoes to find the size, and then find a way to repackage them in the box before i have to find a way to fit the box in the bag without using a separate bag for each box.

my trash can at my register gets filled up within two hours at work because of all the tissue.

plz plz plz make everyone else do this too!

  • this is cheaper specialy if you pay even less (if possible) to those kids in asia

  • I wish I could spend 21 months getting paid to tell my boss's "hey, just put them in a bag" Douche!!! F@*K being green!!!

  • puma has one of the best running sneakers...

If you need a laugh come check out "Girl Scout Silver" "Hot Girl Gold" "Knicks Bronze" and "Zelda Silver" in my channel...enjoy

  • Did it really take you guys 21 months to come with the idea of changing tbe box by a bag? Team of monkeys working around the clock

  • @samoz9999 it wast just switching the box to a bag. they wanted to find more efficient ways to create the bags, reducing their energy use as much as they could.

  • @samoz9999 Those 21 months were spend on looking for ideas, considering every aspect of those ideas, and finally coming up with this conclusion. This idea might have been one of the first ones to pop up, but there are thousands of possibilities, and they just wanted to make sure that this was the "best" one.

  • @vinccimoraless spent*

  • @samoz9999 Hey, these monkeys work hard :(

  • well if the bag is made from cotton it has prollly a bigger footprint than a cardboard box as it takes alot of water to paint and produce cotton

  • child labor

  • that was a catchy song :D

  • manero has access ae! /watch?v=8p9mxKtm2HE

    /watch?v=BbrGdwdiGZU

  • wow really nice presentation!!

  • Up-to-date fitness tips here

  • awesome!

  • Puma should make a commercial not about how much trees they saved or electricity but about how much money they saved by outsourcing third world countries to do the manufacture

  • why does everyone keep saying its plastic when its just a red material... stop complaining it reduces cost for us to buy but also helps our environment. most of the commenter's on this page need to stop trying to sound clever because it is a good idea

  • I love my puma shoes. But are you fucking stupid? You can recycle your shoebox and reuses it for hundreds of different things. How do I recycle this bag? So basically, for some short term marketing gimmick you guys are going to fuck up in the long run. Great.

  • @sahanatas that would be okay if people actually recycle shoeboxes but most people dont this was a good idea

  • its not a plastic bag, its a cloth. like when you buy expensive shoes/bags, you alwasys get a bag to store it in. but i do agree 21 months for that!

  • you could invent that in 1970 too...

  • Comment removed

  • You spent 21 months to replace a recyclable box with a plastic bag? I could have told you in 5 minutes how to increase pollution...

  • manero has access ae! /watch?v=8p9mxKtm2HE

    /watch?v=BbrGdwdiGZU

  • nice idea, but too much words for an ad

  • @theclgy2001 It's called reading.

  • much taken off! it sees ae.

  • Anyone know what the music is?

  • Go to my channel to see the FUNNIEST BACKFLIP FAIL EVER!! MUST SEE!! @@@

  • fake and gay...

  • I hope the shoes gets cheaper for us too ...

  • but shoeboxes are recyclable... are these bags recyclable?

  • freaking pointless. what about no box at all eh??

  • this is downright awesome. i love the idea and i like the way it looks. plus, you don`t even need a plastic bag after you buy it. you can just carry it home. and also, the fact that puma is taking action to be greener. i hope other companies do the same.

  • but now u have tons of bags...
