@AlisonMP14 Don't know if you got an answer, but the start is chain 6 stitches and join to the first first stitch using a slip stitch to form a circle.

Before you begin your project you string the beads onto the yarn in the order you want them to be in your final project. Hope this helps!

I've tried crochet before and lost interest..well now I HAVE TO LEARN Because I love the rope necklace! This seems like it will help me a lot. For jewelry, does it matter what thread you use? I was thinking about .5 or .7mm clear stretchy cord would that work or would thread work better? Do you just use embroidery thread or?

You can make this just as a rope (not joined) or join by stitching the ends neatly together with a needle or make a shorter length necklace by adding a clasp to fasten.
