a great man and amazing ability to still be kicking considering his age. hopefully i'll be meeting him within the next couple of weeks. really looking forward to meeting one of the original Taekwon-Do pioneers!
"surely he should know better" and clearly you don't. he's on grass that sloped... you cant perform sports hall dojang patterns PROPERLY on a SLOPER grass surface.
its a demo, this man has done so much for taekwon-do and considering his age, i dont care if his whole leg is off the ground during his patterns!
I went to Jong Park from age 6 to age 18 and he did teach that. You can substitute a gun for a knife or a punch, it's all the same thing. What do you think the 1 step and 2 step defensive moves are?
um... there's nothing here about mastering tkd hand basics. maybe it should be called "jong soo park is great," because that seems to be all it's saying. nothing wrong with that, but it has nothing to do with hand techniques.
haha Master Park, right. The guy does a few choreographed moves and everyone thinks he's a ninja. I'd love to see him kick a gun out a guys hand, it was neglegent on his part to even suggest that you could do that by teaching students the move in his class. No knowledge on how to think your way out of a situation, just teach you some patterns and takes your money.
"I'd love to see him kick a gun out a guys hand, it was neglegent on his part to even suggest that you could do that by teaching students the move in his class."
AHEM I've been a student of GM Park for Ten years, and he has NEVER taught anything like that!!
Jong Park was the best of his time in S. Korea. That's why he was selected by the government to promote Taekwondo overseas. Unfortunately, nobody appreciates his greatness today in S. Korea. Ironically, those who were couple levels below him in his time are now regarded as WTF's (What The Fuck) greatest GRANDMASTERS.
that isnt ture, general choi sent them out, all the great masters all over the world to promote TKD, the problem was N.Korea, that is why the general was exiled , more in refuge in canada till the days he died. i would know, GM Park has been my teacher for 7 years.
Ermmm thats not really displaying much in the way of courtesy (hint Page 12 Condensed Encyclopedia - Gen Choi) to men and women who are regardless of belonging to the Kukkiwon are your seniors by decades and the depth / understanding derived from their training most likely far exceeds ur own! oh and by the way - the WTF does NOT confer Dan grades it is the sporting body - the Kukkiwon decides syllabi and confers grading results - Taekwon
Yes. He is also vice president and technical director in Ung's ITF.
Just in case you don't know... when General Choi passed, ITF split into 3 separate organizations. They are headed by Chang Ung, Choi Jung Hwa (Gen. Choi's son), and Tran Trieu Kwan.
ShikamaruTKD I agree with the guy below me, he would destroy you man for man and he is a GM, show some respect for him. Respect is one of the fundamental teachings of TKD.
His kicks are great for his age. Or are you talking about when he was younger? I still think they were great. Also, considering it was such a long time ago, when kicks were not so finely refined as they are today, they are pretty damn good.
Jong Soo Park. I used to go to one of his schools. He's amazing, but it's such a shame that his schools are slowly dwindling in students. I think martial arts these days has turned too much into a business and not a path of personal improvement.
i agree. i see that happening alot lately. His mississauga school is really good tho of which i am apart of. Really great instructors that are there to help the students instead of collecting cheques like, sorry to say, but WTF "Master" Kim

Hey everyone, this video should be retitled as a promo video for GM Park's new DVD series.
His students have been telling him for decades that he should do one but he always said "I'm not perfect yet."

then why does it mostly show jump kicks in the video. shouldnt it show the true mastering?
Xplodz 4 years ago
ummm, this is a promo for his dvd series dude! it's really amazing, and perfectly technical. I recommend tkd vs muay thai, karate, and other arts
tkdismygirl 4 years ago
i dont understand how learning a few jump kicks makes you a tae kwon do master.
Xplodz 5 years ago
then go learn wat it means to be a master in ITF cause it isn't "a few jump kicks"
BrandonTex 4 years ago
thats obviously not all he knows. a 2 minute video clip is hardly going to showcase a master'f ull range of abilities, is it?
might as well add a few jumping kicks to keep it from being boring anyway, ne?
