  • RIP to a great man and journalist, T. Russert

  • 322

  • I'd love to lick a lemon lollipop in Lillehammer

  • I can't imagine how hard that would have been to report that to the world as he did, like saying your close friend just randomly died and you are still trying to cope and take it in and hafta get on TV to share with everyone, that's incredible strength that I don't have, much respect

  • Both of them class acts and none of the idiots on TV these days as part of the dumbing down of America will ever come close.

  • Go bills

  • Why was this a Special Report? Its sad that he died, but a journalist seems over the top. When I see breaking news or special report its taken 10 times more lightly than it was as early as the early 90s and prior.

  • @xaqshuna2003 The other networks didn't break in, only NBC, his place of employment. As per journalistic tradition, other networks waited for NBC to announce his passing before they said anything. Only the cable networks covered it live. As far as why NBC broke in, he was the face (along with Tom Brokaw) of NBC News and a stalwart in American journalism. It was also so incredibly unexpected.

  • he had a hard time reporting that

  • How can anyone stomach this Brokaw cocksucker anymore? He sucked as an anchor, could never pronounce a goddamned "L" sound, and now fancies himself some kind of elder statesman and expert on American culture. What a total gasbag, why couldn't his ass have fallen off that bridge?

  • Shit just isn't fair. Tim has ONE heart attack he bites the dust. A good man who made sure you weren't bamboozled and knew all the facts....gone. Meanwhile the evil liars like fuckin Cheney who has had over 500 heart attacks just keeps on ticking.

    It ain't fuckin fair.

  • @CUNTservativesRDung And you, like all stupid, childish, lying, hate-filled, scumbag libs, deserves a hole between your eyes. Of course, all it would do is let the air out.

  • It seems stupid but I just cried over Tim. Why is it stupid? I am a 15 year old boy from the UK. I was flicking through NBC News videos a month ago when I found this one. I researched, I looked at more of Tim's work and found how he was such a great journalist, a career I want to take up. He joins the greats and an even more elite list, journalists who have made me cry. God Bless you Tim. God Bless.

  • @rosskstar yeah wtf?

  • This cult of personality our nation has with certain figures in journalism is dangerous. These guys should stick with reporting the news the public needs to hear. They haven't done their jobs very well for the last 30 years. Especially television news. Even Russert got played by Cheney back in 2002, and he was one of the best.

  • Uh oh, its Tom Brokaw. Something terrible has happened.

  • God Bless Tim Russert for asking Bush & Kerry about the Skull & bones society & openin peoples eyes to their bull shit. Death to the new world order

  • Killuminati

  • poor guy hopefully hes in a better place....

  • @tomsawyersgunstash what? in the ground?

  • A rumpled, wonderful, and principles journalist.

  • he was poisoned

  • That music makes me shudder. (cause it scares me.)

  • This was hard to watch. I don't know how he held himself together

  • Hardly anybody knew he would die.

  • Tim Russert was a really interesting guy. I felt his coverage was always very fair and unbiased. I feel sorry for his family and the NBC people he left behind. But to be fair, in all of our lives, we have so see sadness to appreciate what we had. If we didn't we would not know what should be appreciated. Mr. Russert proved that. We miss him now that he is gone, and perhaps we did not appreciate how great he was in his days with us.

  • he always seemed to be a man completely in love with life....and it's wonders....

  • i graduated from high school the day he died

  • couldn't have had a bigger class act than brokaw make this announcement. he casts a far bigger shaddow than russert.

  • RIP Tim Russert. Your voice is missed!

  • I was referring to the moron with the "fishlips" etc. comments. My apologies to anyone who misunderstood.

  • It baffles me how, in the midst of a respectful salute to a dedicated professional man by people of all outlooks, some pitiful, insecure fool has to slither out of the scum to sling crap. I would reply in a way that would shake you to your worthless soul, but that would insult some of my friends. So I will do what you would hate the most - ignore you. Shouldn't have answered but whether I agree with them or not, I respect both Mr. Russert and Mr. Brokaw for their professionalism.

  • Man, he is really struggling.

  • i was amazed that brokaw got through this without breaking down. he came close a couple of times.

  • so tim russert was another victim from the illuminati...

  • @jcruz7867 jesus stop bullshitting with that illuminati crap.

  • Thx for posting this, RIP Tim.

  • RIP Timmy

  • this was a sad day for America.

  • Brian Williams was on assignment in Baghdad that day, that's why Brokaw did the bulletin. Brokaw happened to be in the NBC News offices in New York that day to work on one of the special projects he did after stepping down from Nightly News, so he volunteered to make the announcement.

  • @MegaObserver1 You always know though that when Brokaw comes on for a special report, something pretty bad has happened.

  • @da40flyer cant hardly believe its been that long ago since he passed, i remember watching this live when it first broke in.. a sad day in world news indeed.

    R.I.P tim.

  • Did he died?

  • @bryandamadman Yes, almost 3 years ago now.

  • @selhax What on earth is your problem with Tim Russert? He was a hard-working and very fair journalist. He was not a political figure; he just reported on politics. Why so bitter? What did he ever do to you to deserve your maniacal hateful rant?

  • @selhax omfg, ur siiick! u know that? u should see someone.. i bet ur one of those middle east guys, who wants to blow up america.

  • Florida, Florida, Florida

  • BOYCOTT TUCSON AZ THEY KILLED MY DOG SUKI ON 1/5/2011

  • Tom Brokaw briefly came back from retirement when Russert died. I miss tim russert

  • God Bless you Russ. Go Bills.

  • lovin to lickin them lemon lollipops

  • All of you....shut up. Don't make any of this about YOU. This clip is about Tim Russert & his family. I'm sure most of you have enough humanity left in you to respect that and quit arguing about politics & name calling.

  • I remember seeing this live on TV, as a 24yr old at the time I was heartbroken to learn this news of someone who was just so amazing and brilliant had tragically left us, words cant express then nor can they now, but we miss you everyday, and thanks for everything! WE SALUTE YOU, TIM!

  • died young! RIP

  • You were the last hope for network television news, Tim (now that Tom Brokaw has retired). We still miss you so much.

  • Lets go BILLS!

  • Ok that is totally freaky. I thought the same thing. Wow.

  • @KristaDawn1985 Me too!!!

  • I remember watching MSNBC at the time, regarding the R. Kelly trial, and this came on.

To be honest, for some reason I thought that the were going to announce that Senator Obama had been killed.

    I always liked Russert. RIP.

  • Florida, Florida, Florida

  • Tim shouldn't have asked so many questions about the skull and bones society. Aaron Russo asked similiar questions and had a similiar mysterious and untimely death as well.

  • poor Timmy

  • CNN was ready to do a "Breaking News" segment, as was the other networks, but they held up the story until NBC had a chance to gather itself and make the first special report.

  • @chrumfelt very honorable. very respectful.

  • @chrumfelt That's really cool, I guess there still is some professionalism in journalism

  • @chrumfelt goes to show you that there is still respect in the brodcasting family. For all the bad out there they still manage to do a good thing from time to time.

  • @chrumfelt I hope that's fact, you got a source?

  • @chrumfelt To gather itself? lol don't be such a melodramatic idiot. They were waiting until the Russert family was notified so they wouldn't hear it announced on TV. The network wasn't sitting around broken up trying to "gather itself." Why are people on You Tube so ridiculous sometimes?

  • I'D LOVE TO LICK A LEMON LOLIPOP IN LILIHAMMER

  • I am so sad over Tim Russert's death still. He was the very best and he is sorely missed.

  • @mightydyckerson Your asshole's probably too loose for it's own good, good riddance for when you go!

  • The last journalist on NBC. He would be shocked and saddened to see the clown show it has quickly degenerated into to.

  • I am a big fan of Brokaw also and it kills me every time I see this...

  • One of Tim Russert's characteristics that made him a really great moderator is that he left his personal and political beliefs in the green room and picked them up when he got off work.

    RIP Tim Russert (1950-2008)

  • what kind of world do we live in where people like Tim Russert pass away and people like Bill O'Reilly and Keith Olberman are still living? Tim was a no BS journalist who was perhaps the most unbiased journalist in the mainstream media. RIP Tim you will surely be missed

  • Listen, if Tom was this guy's close friend, he would want to exploit it

  • I like to lick lemon lollipops in lillyhammer!

  • Times are so scary right now. I really miss him. It just breaks my heart.

  • I've been a Conservative my whole life and I still miss Tim Russert. He always struck me as a great family man and a very fair interview. I hope he is resting in peace.

  • I liked Tim Russert he kept it simple was never flashy and got the facts. He asked the sort of questions the average person wanted answers to.....

  • GO BILLS!!!

  • I was watching, and remember one of the golf announcers noting "We have to break away for an NBC News Special Report". Then this flash came.

"Meet The Press" had struggled in the ratings prior to Russert's arrival; by the time of his death, "MTP" had become the dominant Sunday-morning political talk show in the ratings, a status it still holds under current host David Gregory.

I only wish Tim Russert had lived to participate in convention and election night coverage.

  • TV news isn't the same after Peter Jennings and Tim Russert died. It's even more not the same that Tom Brokaw retired. :-( I miss the good old news days back in the 80's and 90's.

  • Good evening, I'm Tim RussHNNNNNNGGGGG

  • This is one of the most important political men of all time, I miss him every Sunday.

  • Rest in peace, Tim Russert. You will be missed.

  • i just known that he made and interview with bush and kerry about skull and bones topic in his program!.

  • Very very sad death :( Regardless of his horrible and mislead politcal views, its just terrible that it happened.

  • RIP

  • Certainly sad for the friends of Russert and minimally newsworthy. The extensive coverage goes how important newspeople think they are.

  • How awful to have to break the news of the death of a close friend on national television.

  • I remember Rush Limbaugh's reaction- jealous of the fact that when he passes away, he'll never get the accolades that Russert did.

  • @scifiradioguy who will though? Certainley no one in the media today

  • gone

  • Oh how I miss the late great Tim Russert. There's no one, I mean no one, that can take his place.

  • @roz805 He was just another government suckup assclown, no better than the drones and bimbos at Fox News or CNN. He missed chance after chance to expose the Bush administration's lies and chicanery and to out the criminals on Wall Street. All modern TV journalists are nothing but disgraceful careerists, and he was no different.

  • @dirac33 I can't disagree with you about the drones and bimbos on Fox News, but there is no one then or currently that can compete with Tim Russert. Media is a for profit business run by multinational megaconglomerates with a very specific agenda. Considering that truth and the economic constraints upon him, he did a pretty good job researching his subjects and calling people on their bs. Did he hit every topic? No. Could he have done more damage? Doubtful.

  • @roz805 Well I liked him too, and I can't think of anyone I'd rather drink beer and watch football with. But someone from the 4th estate needs to start chewing some ass, rather than being a corporate suck-up trying to keep a job - and some of these guys, e.g. Olbermann, get so caught up in their own excellence that they become the very thing they are pretending to not be. So Russert went over some kind of line by cutting people slack who did not deserve it. Like Colin Powell did.

  • Tom Brokaw,Tim Russert,Brian Williams, and Larry King are the last good male anchors on TV

  • If anyone can dig up footage from Conan O'Brien's Late Night that evening, I would greatly appreciate it. From what I've read, he simply walked onto the stage without any music or intro, informed the audience that he had just learned of Russert's passing, then played several clips from Russert's appearances on Late Night.

  • Tim Russert was one of the truly great journalists and political commentators. I would watch his show every Sunday with my parents, and I was always amazed by his integrity, honestly, and idealism. He clearly loved this country and the political process. Tom Brokow couldn't have put it any better. Tim has been and will continue to be dearly missed.

  • Yeah you can tell Tom trying his best to hold it together, gotta feel for him.

  • dignity that what mr tim russert stood for hope luke follows in his footsteps and takes over meet the press when christiana relinquishes it go luke hold that tiger you are very young and the russert voice has not heard its last day meet the press i hope to see you hosting it one day in the near future go irish

  • Tim Russert was a good man and journalist!

  • Tim was the last of a generation that actually cared about reporting the news and not re-writing their own version of it. He is much missed and you can tell the volume of his loss since his death by the shoddy, irresponsible, biased, vitriolic reprting of today's "reporters".

  • This announcment still brings me to tears after all this time! God Bless Tim Russert! Go Bills!

  • I loved Tim and I did not know how much until he was gone. RIP Tim.

  • RIP BIG GUY!

  • we has killed....

we wanted to know to mutch..

  • yuk... what a nauseating love in... he was a corporate shill for nbc and was just another lever in the establishment.

  • So sad...I really wished he were around to have seen the end of the 2008 elections for his analysis

  • If anyone in televised political journalism had more integrity and non partisan balance than Tim Russert, I don't know it. He was a class act and as far as I'm concerned the Sunday Morning News "political round table" shows have all suffered with his passing.

  • Only fitting that Tom Brokaw made this announcement. He was the only man for the job.

  • nbc political team has proven to be very weak after the unfortunate passing of Tim...chuck todd is a know it all joke and david gregory is just not fit for the job...

  • Wow, this was two years ago already? I liked Tim.

  • I tear up when Tom says "my friend and colleague, Tim Russert" you can tell he's trying so hard to keep it together.

  • I'd love to lick a lemon lolipop in Lillyhammer.

  • Irony: Note that the 2007 NBC "Special Report" theme was a longer version of the "Meet The Press" theme music.

  • Remember this day well...it was during the 2nd round of the US Open from Torrey Pines...didn't someone else famous die that day or right around that day?

  • I was sitting in Applebees when I found out about Tim Russert died. He was the empitomy of fair and balanced reporting.

  • Buffalo wings.

  • he's sad because "they" killed him

  • I think Tom Brokaw did very well with this it must have been very hard to report the loss of a friend

  • It's sad to me to read negative comments on a man who was a great son, a great dad, and a believer. Nothing left needs to be said.

  • Thank you! The responds of all you sheep, never once mentioned the term "Jornalism" just like you can't spell the term democracy! Anyone on this site are sheep, following a good natured down hole, You ass kissers, Look at America now! All you cry-babys see America as then, Well, cry to grave, better look-up and see America now!

  • The putrefying Tim Russert was a corporate elitist who had a keen knack for regurgitating garbage from teleprompters. He wasn't a journalist. He didn't care about the middle class, nor the sovereignty of our former Constitutional Republic. Why would the corporate media hire a loose cannon as their liaison anyway? Stop worshiping this tubby charlatan. Stop promoting him as a man of the people, as he clearly was not.

  • If you hate the man so much why the hell were you watching this video? You don't have the slightest idea what you're talking about. Tim Russert was not a loose cannon, he was one of the most level headed journalist on T.V. You're buddies on Fox News are loose cannons. What the hell are you talking about he doesn't care about the people? Have you ever been to Buffalo? Anyone who grew up in South Buffalo has a soft spot for the little guy. You're a moron.

  • @braunb86 : Was Tim Russert a little guy?

  • @braunb86 : Tim Russert practices the pretension of being "of the people." Russert was a corporate lickspittle, as is Geraldo.

  • A couple of war mongerer gatekeepers.

  • Too bad I couldn't meet him in the real world since he's gone, but Heaven's the only place hang out with him when I die in about 70 or 80 years.

  • hes is struggling to hold back the emotion

  • Wow. You can really tell Tom's struggling not to lose it.

  • RIP Tim, we miss you.

  • I cannot express how very much I miss this man...He brought me to politics so many years ago, and kept me interested throughout my adult life. I cried when he died. Cried for a man I never knew.

  • @b8tovene oh gee whiz...poor baby, you fuckhead libtard

  • @b8tovene I know what you mean about Tim Russert. He took my virginity in 2004 when I was 15. He was a well endowed man.

  • @owl1970 LMFO to soon tho

  • @b8tovene ...why did you feel sad, it's not like he cared about you.

Tim Russert, like almost all mainstream 'journalists,' worked for the predatory ruling class and made millions talking around the issues that have ruined the United States because he thought his masters would take care of him.

Although I'm indifferent to his death, I don't miss him at all.

  • @b8tovene I miss Tim Rusert too, he seemed like a very kind individual with a tough job in a not-so-very-kind World of political news.

  • I miss Russert and his MTP show on Sunday. He was unequalled in his ability to ask the probing questions of our political leaders. it's too bad some people want to use his death as a way to score political points against Cheney.

  • wow im surprised a reporter dieing gets breaking news coverage.

  • I just don't get it. Tim Russert has one heart attack and he's dead.

Mean while Tricky Dick the second Cheney has had 500 of them and he's still kicking.

It's shit like that that makes life so unfair.

  • @dontworryaboutit2110 Evil never dies.

  • i'd love to lick a lillipop in lilehammer

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA XD

  • lol sorry i was supposed to give you a thumbs up but them my finger slipped LOL

  • Lol nah it's cool, what you said was worth the laughs hahaha

  • @InformationMinister hey punk shut the fuck up on politics if i see you berating dead people again i will report you to youtube management

  • @9751asd By all means fuckface go ahead and report me, i just looked over the comment i posted many MANY months ago and not one negative thing is said in my comment, now hows about you stop being sucha fuckin keyboard warrior and pull your head out of your arse and get a fucking life instead of trying to act like a hero on something that was said months ago.

  • It'd a nice town...sure you will have fun

  • RIP Tim Russert 1950-2008.

  • Tim was the voice of balance in the world of American political journalism..

    One of the Kind

    R.I.P.

  • Tom seemed a bit out of breath, and upset, but I'm glad he kept it together. What a pro he is!

  • Oh yes I expect so. He almost lost it at the memorial after Tim Russert's son spoke.

  • Chilling video...

  • I just finished ' Big Russ and Me" Geez, Tim Russert was a genuine good guy-- the kind of person we would all enjoy having as a friend. His legacy will live on proudly.

  • I'm going to hell for laughing at this because I can't help but think of Dana Carvey or Ed Helms impression of Tom Brokaw.

"Gerald Ford Died today after being mauled by a pack of wolves."

    lol

  • Poor Tom Brokaw - you could hear the emotion in his voice. Obviously, it would be difficult - even as a seasoned professional - to broadcast the death of your friend. Buffalo was very proud of Tim.
