Yeah, it was on purpose. New Jack had always blamed Grimes for the fact that he blinded NJ in one eye as a result of a previous match they had when a stunt went wrong and Grimes landed on top of him.

NJ is one sick bastard. He wanted Grimes dead; and he almost succeeded.

Grimes shit himself on top of the scafholding and was trying to get jack to not throw him, but crazy jack just threw him and instead of going threw all the tables he missed :D

New Jack suffered brain damage from a previous fall where they missed the tables that were supposed to absorb the impact and Grimes landed on Jack's head. Jack was known for "shooting" his opponents meaning going against the script to actually hurt people he thought were disrespectful to him in the ring. This happened here where Jack actually admitted to pushing Grimes harder than he was supposed to, to try and land Grimes on the corner post injuring or possibly killing him. This is insane.

If you watch the Forever Hardcore Documentary which you can get on DVD, New jack talks about how much he really hates Vic Grimes and was trying to really kill him. He said he wanted him to hit the post and die, but Jack said before the match the ring workers repositioned the scaffold that they were standing on without his knowledge which in fact saved Grimes life because if they kept it where it was and Jack tossed him, Grimes would have not even ended up in the ring.
