2:33 That reminds me of the downburst we had in Lufkin, Texas when i was about 6 years old. It looks exactly like this except there were pine trees down everywhere in our street. Now i live in Fort Worth and haven't seen one since.
Also it started with hail just like that too, i was about to run out with a blanket for my car, if I did I would have been crushed by the tree.. fucking lucky
I've been in one of these before, one second it was just an average storm in Australia, the next it was like a tornado, it was so loud I didn't even hear a massive gum tree collapse right next to our house missing it my inches, and my car luckily too.. and quick as it came it was gone.. should have seen the damage it caused too.. all in one specific area..
@charlestace: The tree survived. The cheap plastic stick I got to hold it up snapped, but the tree is intact, except for a few scrapes where the fence hit it.
@mconwxdr Hard to believe unless you were here. You have to see the damage to homes that 90 seconds of this storm did. I'm not far from you in NE Norman.
@ferretmomof3 yeah it sounds out of it, i never heard anything like that. If you were to join that sound with the sounds of the earth quakes we get here ( Christchurch) you going to have a really frightened audience haha.
This happened to me about 2 years ago. A mile away, there was inches of hail (I got none). A mile in another direction, almost no damage. One street over, a 5ft thick tree snapped in half. I stood in my doorway watching winds were paralleling my house thank god).
@Zolduch dont think libya was mentioned in this video so im pretty sure theres no need for a libya comment nor is there anyway this youtuber could control our "goberment" so complaining on there video is just plain stupid
Susan who I used to work with at Cendant posted this video... it is NOT fake. I work for Allstate in Norman, OK and in one day our little office filed 36 damage claims, we already have 5 more this morning. This is the real deal folks, this is the 2nd Microburst in Oklahoma metro in 2 years.. August of 2010 and June of 2011.
@ytgrthomas you can clearly see a microburst about a mile away moving in from the start of the video.. that wasnt a smart choice to call this vid fake . the hail is not coming down horizontally, but virtically prior to the wind and not to mention the sheer massive amount of ice, this video is completely genuine. (the raw file name says its directly from a recording device not from an editing program as well)
@FloridaSeverWeather I was kidding. We got hit with this exact storm last night too and it was insane. Great video here. It's so obviously not fake that I figured everyone would know I was joking.
@ytgrthomas Please explain how the high wind is fake as well and the lightning, thunder, clouds, etc... I am a meteorology student and I have been storm chasing before and this is not fake at all. You need to take your worthless comments and get that out of here!!
From the looks of it North Norman got no where near as bad as we did on the SE side. We had 32 minutes of golf ball to tennis ball size hail and substained winds of a lteast 75 mph, although I personally measured wind gust of 94 mph. The news did decent of warning Norman that they would get slammed for maybe 15-20 minutes before the storm. Of course watching radar there was a chance of the hardcore hail for almost an hour.
a weaker form of this (macroburst) hit my area a while back i remember standing in my back porch watching the thunderstorm and all of a sudden a HUGE gust of wind came through it took out some small pine trees in areas. i'd say it was about a 60-70mph gust. the storm had no warning on it. just a random gust of wind similar to this
