  • they didn't add the starch I think

  • There's only clear and yellow...

  • its so coooooooooooooooooooooooollll :0

  • you have to add a little bit more boiled starch solution (or just powdery starch) so that it gets deep blue too ... we had the same problem in our chemistry work experience :)

  • this was taken from a website and changed aournd by my own words sorry if it makes no sense lol :) v v v v v v

  • IO3- + 2H2O2 + CH2(COOH)2 + H+ → ICH(COOH)2 + 2O2 + 3H2O

the slowly increasing amber color is due to the production of free iodine by a radical process. When the radical process stops, the resulting increase in iodide ion enables the sudden blue starch color. But since the non-radical process is acting, this slowly fades back to clear. The eventual resumption of the radical process is invisible, but can be revealed by the use of a suitable electrode.

  • You could have put too much sulfuric acid, which would have 'killed' the reaction, if you think it took too long. But it normally takes around 2-2.5 minutes to start up.

  • not quite. my 80 cm3 mix had 30 oscillations in 120 secs, only the first 10 of which showed no deep blue. thats at room temperature

  • haha i dont really care, i got thumbs up =D

  • Too bad they arent speaking english

  • how the world........

  • cool.

  • congratulations. a neutralization reaction. wat does that have to do with this...

  • well, nothing 2 do with that though. i'm juz revising my chemistry. i juz wonder abt that briggs-rauscher reaction... iz dat a kind of chemical equibrium or something?

  • yeah i believe the equilibrium between an acid and elemental iodine is shifting between products and reactants. the wonders of equilibrium =D

  • You type like a retard.

  • i dun care... whether i type like a retard or not, i still dun mind about what i am because i always think in a scientific manner. anyway, thatz how life goez on.. hahaha... =P

  • No ncw808, a retard could type better than this.

Very cool experiment though. Love to see it happening live.

  • my chemistry teacher did that she added hydrochloric acid in it too o.0

  • Lets all hide behind a non-name.

I cannot emphasize enough how people like you should be dragged around by a reliant robin until you pass away.

  • that is what happens when a robot pees in a beaker

  • lmao i dunno why people gave you the thumbs down cuz even i saw the funny side of that xD

  • my respond was to KISSlovah.

  • this resonance is actually spinning the mix at the freq the oscillator is set on , basically every time it spins 360 it goes back to the way it was poured in originally. sound spinning the water

  • I'm pretty sure that magnet is spinning the water, not sound.

  • 1. That Americans are dumb & fat is irrelevant to this video; if you listened, the people in the video aren't even speaking English.

    2. Unless English is not your native tongue, your grammar just sucks.

    3. Back then computers were just hobbyist kits and university experiments, seemingly useless. Look what these slow & bulky things are now. That experiment teaches students at universities the way the universe works; such students might just make an important new technology with what they learned.

  • i think this is so very interesting the way the colors change, I am an artist

  • KIS Slovah, You say in ur comment below "there is no significance...your so dumb" but then you get all offended when someone insults you. If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen.

  • Is the "positive statement" that you refer to that Americans are all fat and dumb? What country are you from? Is everybody there as big an ass as you?

  • lol i think its cuz u said hes liek non educated

  • and then KABOOM!

  • wow...now you also spelled "thanks", "a lot", and "freaking" wrong.

  • are you...... mental?

  • Inside is a magnetic stirrer, theres a spinnig magnet in the hot plate so the breakdancer constantly stirs the mixture.

It has no use now, but if we were only to study what had imediate use to us we would never make the larger discoveries further down the road. Science isnt utalitarian you dumbass, its about natural curiosity.

KIS Slovah, that was the worst worded, least supported ad hominum ive ever read. I just thrown up a bit in my mouth.

  • "yoew toob"

  • magnet auschalten dann nochmal probieren

  • Isn't this a Belousov Zhabotinsky reaction ?

  • This one sucks. Your ratios must be off.

  • What are the correct ratios? Am doing a science experiment, would like to know.

  • Comment removed

  • To dds2008: I don't remmember exactly, but you can find it at Web of Science.

  • where is the blue?

  • it's an option.

  • gief option

  • coloca no iutubi vai nega, coloca no iutubi neginha

  • Wow, the other one goes a lot faster.

  • what are the ratios?

  • saturday night live skit with christopher walken. needs more cowbell! well, it needs more of SOMETHING cuz this reaction is just way too slow for watching.

  • hahahhaha...cowbell. you totally reminded me of that episode. classic!

  • hahaha yeah i have a fever and it requires more cowbell

  • ...you HAVE NEVER HEARD OF COWBELL? :O

  • yes I know what a fucking cowbell is. I grew up in alberta...even though we don't use them I know what it is

  • Needs more starch.

  • amazing! nice video!

  • Essa reação é linda...

Quando eu fiz eu não gravei ¬¬
