  • Higher Octane rating means more efficient gas and better performance which is why some cars, such as the genesis, recommend higher octane gas to prevent engine knocking and provide best performance. The reason for this is that the engine has a higher compression ratio, because a higher compression ratio increases horsepower, and more horsepower means a higher performing engine. Learn some common fucking knowledge you unintelligent moronic little faggot bitch.

  • you're 50/50 on your definition. Higher octane fuel doesn't/does prevent knocking. The knocking is happening becase the fuel is igniting on its own. A 93 octane rating is alot harder to ignite than 83. higher octane fuel doesn't make the car run better at all. HIgher octane does nothing but tell you how much it needs to be compressed before ignition. I 've heard rumors of the gen being able to reach a higher hp with higher octane, but most vids have mods or don't show evidence

  • Thats true and false. the higher octane will deter pre detonation but by using higher octane you can run more boost safer and in that regard the higher octane gives you more power. Although that more into race fuels especially Q16. My car wnt run on less than 92 octane

  • Suggestion (just a theory, correct me if I'm wrong): there is an optimum octane value for each engine since all engines have different compression ratios. If you go below that optimum, the self-ignition will occur more readily since you do have the required compression for self-ignition if you go below the engine's optimum octane rating. So, bearing that in mind, if you do run on the optimum rating you don't get more pony's but if you run on lower than the optimum, you lose some horsepowers.

    With higher octane, you are able to advance the ignition timing further, thus creating more power without the risk of detonation. Ignition timing is the key to making power with higher octane levels. Increasing the octane level without adjusting the timing maps will yield no gain. Some cars such as Nissan/Infiniti are mapped so that the ignition timing works in conjunction with the factory knock sensors...

    .... The ignition timing is advanced as much as possible without inducing knock. On such cars, going from 87 octane to 93+ octane WILL allow the engine the create more power without remapping the ECU.

  • Backfire is usually unburnt fuel hitting the air. Usually happens when you remove the cat(s) since the cat is meant to burn any fuel that gets past the combustion chamber.
