  • By chance, was this the Boss 429 that was found in a garage in N. Illinois and traded to a car dealership for a new truck plus an undisclosed sum of cash ? Read about it in a Mustang magazine a while back...

  • Is 429 considered a big block?

  • @punchmaster123 Yes they are

  • she provides a much better and more entertaining commentary than most of the dudes doing commentary. and pretty easy on the eyes to boot!

you need to get rid of that cheesy steering wheel cover. use a Wheel Skin instead.

  • Ah! That's awsome. Your wife cracked me up ... kind of reminds me of what happens with mine and my old cars. Thumbs up.

  • Didn't even fire it up .....had to listen to that dumb ass broad .......jez

  • She did fire it up. What video were you watching, or were you and your broad on your 12th beer for the day? Oh thats right, shes left you.

  • I seem to remember the Bosses were semi-hemishperical heads, not a complete Hemi like a mopar is. Doesn't matter; it's still my dream car.

  • Hi, yes your right and wrong.

The first 200 (approx) were full HEMI. Ford then put "flats" either side of the chamber. These allow for cool areas to prevent self detination.

  • @boss429kiwi Correct. The "Post NASCAR code" engines were referred to as the "Semi-Hemi" Shotguns.

  • @boss429kiwi Jon Kaase makes a new Boss 429 head and they are bad ass!

  • A factory stock Boss 429 makes about 370hp at the wheels.does about 13.7-14.0 at 102 in the 1/4 mile.

  • we've been restoring it for, I have been restoring it.

  • They said these things produced way over 500 hp but were rated at 375 because of rising insurance prices and other things.

  • Yes, 375HP was the official recording, mainly for insurance and petrol prices.

A stock Boss 429 is approx 450HP, change the cam, carb and exhaust and you are looking at 550HP+++. Lets not forget these were de-tuned NASCAR race engines.

I have a 440, 6 pack, 4 speed Superbird, and the power difference is noticable, in favour of the Boss 429! Thanks Gary

  • you have the horse in the front in the wrong place. It should be on the driver's side and not right in the middle

  • my bad at first i thought it was a '69 but i just realized its a '70.

  • wrong!

  • Great car....you are doing a great job with it...your wife seems like a lot of fun and is a good sport. Cute, funny women with great accents always help to get the TouTubr view numbers up...LOL

  • If this was an Original BOSS 429....Well It's worth 150,000+....there are almost none left for sale.......God bless!

  • Ahh my absolute dream car / awsome job guys, my budget could only stretch to a 68 mustang coupe but the wife and I are having heaps of fun in her :)

  • @DRJIVAN

  • @boss429kiwi AWESOME car man. I wish I had the money to own one of those. ENJOY IT!

  • schöner Ford Mustang Boss 429 erklärt von einer schönen reifen Frau.

  • mazing car guys-but you're accents.......... makes me want to come home really bad haha.

NZ has some of the most hard to find cars anywhere-was it imported used or was it brought in new???

  • What an amazing job on the restoration! I love the fact these Boss 429s are finally getting some respect. You two really had my laughing with the "we" vs "I" bits.

  • Kiwi dude- It is "we" not I. Who motivates you???

  • Absolutely beautiful car my friend! It is awesome to see such a rare car and to have a great narrator such as Cara who actually does listen to you when you are making conversation about your car! I hope my wife will actually know half as much as yours when I finally get my 70 SCJ Torino Cobra restored :) I can't wait to show my wife this video when I get home tonight! Again, great car and great job with the video!!!

  • super nice boss 429 and super hot wife! youre one lucky dude. (:>)

  • Women around really nice cars...... Makes me nervous just watching your video. Beautiful car though, I would kill for one of those.

  • John Kasse Racing is making Boss 429 engines...also selling peices so you can make your own from the 429 or 469 block

  • Im jealous

  • Im jelous

  • Like the car, loved your presenter. Lucky man!

  • Wow, that is a beautiful car!

The only thing better than checking out a video of a nearly mintly-restored Boss 429 is watching the same video partially narrated by a very attractive young lady that seems to know a thing or two about the restoration and the history of the car (I absolutely love the Kiwi accent, too). There is not a more attractive trait in a woman for me than having an interest in cars.

You, my friend are a lucky guy. I bet that has been a blast of a project!

  • Hey, cheers mate :)

    Cara enjoyed your comment.

  • "we been restoring it", "I been restoring it", We been restoring it" hahaha

  • This car needs to be where it's going to recieve the best care. Obviously it's in the right place. This is one of the nicest Boss 9's i've ever seen. You did an outstanding job restoring this beauty. Hope you found that rev limiter (counter) and radio. Your wife is very funny. Does everyone in New Zealand have as good a sense of humor as you two?

  • Holy shit man, if you sell that thing you could get 100k easy. The car looks beautiful and it sounds great. I wouldnt put a rev limiter on it. Funny thing about the boss, is even though they were built for NASCAR, they said it was to fast and banned the motor.

Guess they still got the engine...oh you might find that rev limiter you need on eBay.

  • my wife and I do not "own" the Boss 429, our 6 year old son does :)

  • what the fuck, ur son dont own a mustang boss 429, and thats

    a boss302

  • i know. he got guys from some aftermarket deisel engineering to hop up his tank motor. hes runnin aftermarket turbos and alotta boost

  • HOT!

Oh, you're wife isn't bad looking, either

  • love the accent. hemi.. cool ride. got me a 69mach1 with a 351w stroker. bad ass cars fer sure.

  • is that origonal engine

  • Gorgeous car !!

  • The full Hemi heads were used on long tracks, the semi hemi cresent heads were used for shorter tracks and for twisty tracks, I'm sure all the production street cars had the semi hemi heads

  • She's just as excited and into that car as you are. You lucky man.

  • dude nice car...thats seriously one of the most beautiful cars ive ever seen.

  • Yes a true Hemi, and very limited Number in cars very rare, thanks for showing this last one I seen was green in a car show , this one looks new

  • hemi?

  • yes "HEMI". Read below. Ford's Boss 429 was a "HEMI" engine, but called them Cresent. Also known as the "twisted HEMI" or "Semi HEMI" etc. The Boss 429 came with full HEMI and semi HEMI heads.

  • thats a fantastic video!! your missus is great.

  • boss429kiwi,

Nice car, and you are correct in that "HEMI" means hemispherical combustion chamber, but the street version of the boss 429 mustang has "SEMI" Hemi heads as they have quench areas on both sides of the combustion chamber. The 494 cubic inch aluminum version of that motor had true full Hemi combustion chambers as well as the 427 SOHC FORD Hemi (the 429 wasnot the only hemi FORD produced, nor the best)

  • Ford did use full HEMI heads on the first 200 boss 429's. There were then changed to semi-HEMI as these quench areas helped with cooling and prevented pinging etc. Ford call them cresent heads. My car has full HEMI Holman and Moody heads on it and I can see why they went for the semi-HEMI heads.

  • Great car, second only to the GT40 that Ford created a few years earlier.

But the whole "Hemi" thing? It is no big deal, just marketing. The Euros were using hemispherical combustion chambers in the 1900s! The freaking 1900s! So the whole "Hemi" thing is a bit stale. Bragging about having a "Heri", is like bragging about having a "V8"...LOTS of other manufacturers do as well...so what?

Also, to the guy who posted this: your wife is adorable, she is a keeper mate!

  • RE: SpeedingStudent

You might wish to check yourself before you go acting like an automotive engineer. just because you've read a book or read somewhere on the internet that hemispherical engines aren't a big deal, doesn't mean that anyone other than you believes it. if "HEMI's" were as you put it, just marketing. then i suppose the entire world of drag racing wouldn't exist.

my suggestion to you would be to learn much, much, much...... more before posting more ignorant insulting statements.

  • Thanks, dad.

My original statement stands: hemispherical combustion chambers are nothing new, and are just pure marketing at this point. But don't worry JDubR, Chrysler will be bankrupt soon enough, and the "hemi" marketing will die with it.

Oh, and drag-racing is for knuckle-draggers. I like a proper road-course, that has, you know, these weird things called "turns"...shows a driver's skill more effectively than just going in a straight line like an idgit.

  • RE: SpeedingStudent

You're very welcome, Junior... i always have time to school ignorant little dipshits on the facts. first of all, you're the only person in this post and possibly the only person in the world ignorant enough to argue

that V8 hemi's were only produced as LOL "just marketing". you obviously know nothing about the history of "ANY" engine let alone the history of american engines produced by brittish and american car companies ford, chrysler, chevrolet,or NASCAR, or DRAG RACING.

  • I never said they were produced as "just marketing". I said the term "hemi" was not special, as many, many, manufacturers used it in the past, and that the name itself was marketing.

Reading comperhension is great, isn't it?

  • As far as skill goes.... you cant even navigate yourself around the monumental mistakes of your previous ignorant statements. now you expect us to believe you dont drive the way you speak? "WRECKLESSLY"

Just go away while you're still "BEHIND" maybe you can find a new hobby like politics? i hear the requirements suit your description in that intelligence, truth, integrity, and actually having been born with a penis, aren't pre-requisites.

  • Dude, you don't know shit about engines, so just STFU.

    Go back to watching NASCAR.

  • sorry but you're just coming across as a dumbass. you've been schooled, admit it

  • Heh.
