I've been grinding on b2 of the Ant-lion cave for about 4 days now, and no luck..

IF I continue the story WITHOUT giving Puddingway the rainbow pudding, will he still appear in the next location (dwarven castle)??? Or do I have to get the pudding first? This is my first play through, so i don't have treasure hunter. And I doubt i'll play it thru a second time... Maybe if the devs had made this part easier to complete.. but i won't waste my time on this ever again once i get it :P

i honestly found it easier to have given the Kick Augment to one of the characters (Cecil for me), set it to that character's auto ability and everyone else on defend.  I then obviously used Auto with battle speed set as high as possible and just walked around in a circle and occasionally hit A when needed to clear the loot screen. Automatically making 1 attack hit all monsters and not cost MP made this grind a little more bearable.

@LukeCastellan909 I think the bonus of using an item is that you can set it so that one person is doing the slaying, and then give that person the Treasure Hunter augment if you have it and it doubles the chance of the item dropping.

You either are using hacked savestate on an easyflash or just stupid lucky, the very fact that you conveniently only ran into flans in both locations when then are an uncommon encounter is horseshit. I run into flans like one every 10-12 battles 6 if i'm lucky....

@lilprinnydood In the antlions nest, there are only two enemies, blue turtle and yellow flan. They are actually very commonly found in groups of four. I've done the nest for about a total of two hours (two seperate times) and no luck. Good luck though

I got a maxed armor and stat/level team and I can't get some fuckin pudding lol oh and dragon whisker is a very common drop when you can kill the dragons fast enough I have like 7 on me right now (it's rydia's best weapon) and you use the rainbow puddin with namingway in argate to go through the sidequest

just got Rainbow Pudding from Flan Princesses after about using 13 Sirens, there's a way to kill them easy, just use Esuna on Rosa & then have her cast Blink on the party & Slow on Flan Princesses (for this to work you pretty much need Dualcast & Omnicasting), when they Berskerk you again, just do the same thing and use Rosa to Cure and Holy against the Flan Princesses, may take a bit to kill them, took me 2 and a half hours to get Rainbow Pudding, was taking me on easier enemies hours & nothing

i'm replaying again from first playthrough, all i need to do is get my Rainbow Pudding, first time i played i got it from the Flan Princesses, but killing them takes too long --- forget spending so much for Stardusts, you can use the Stardust ROD for Rydia as an item, costs nothing --- also to the person below me, i have NEVER once deleted an item i didn't know i got from an enemy that dropped it and if you don't get much Gil, ALWAYS KEEP IT --- also i got Goblin Summon from Lil' Murderer today.

the exact oddss are 0.4% without treasure hunter: 1/256 chance per encounter, not per flan. It's 1% with the Princesses.

u can use sirens. buy 99 sirens n go to the smallest room in the antlion den. spam sirens in their n if u run out n dnt have the rainbow puddin yet, turn off the game n turn it back on to spam sirens again. ull eventually get the rainbow puddin =]

Just got mine now from Yellow Jellies. I started it when I got the Enterprise and went to the Antlion's Den because I couldn't go to the moon. Took me exactly 19 hours of gameplay, thats an average of 18 levels each and 64k gil.

Not for the faint hearted, but I decided to I wasn't going to leave the place till I got it and, shamefully, I stuck to it.

Rainbow Pudding is less rare on the moon. If you're trying to get it from a Red Mousse in the Underground Waterway or the a Yellow Mousse in the Antlion's Den, the drop rate is 0.4%. If your trying to get it from a Flan Princess on the moon, the drop rate is 1%. This is all assuming you don't have the Treasure Hunter Augment equipped.

In the Lunar Subterrane on floof B4 (the one with the Ragnorak and Dark Bahamut fight), there is a room with a lone treasure chest that contains a Red Fang attack item. If you use a Siren near the chest, you will encounter Flan Princesses reliably. If you have the Treasure Hunter Augment (obtained by completing every dungeon map in the game), you will increase the drop rate to 2%. Plus, you can work on getting the Pink Tail at the same time. This is a costly methood, but the reward is worth it.

There is a character called Namingway. He is more-or-less a sidequest. When you find him, he will ask you to do something for him, let you watch previous cutscenes, or let you listen to the game's music. He frequently changes his name. Eventually he becomes Puddingway. Puddingway wants to impress a girl with Rainbow Pudding, so you have to find some for him. To make the sidequest go on, you have to do everything he asks, and that means getting him some Rainbow Pudding.

And to add to the video, if you get additional rainbow puddings, they sell for 100000 gil

also, if you use stardust, you may as well just fight the flan princess since the drop rate is higher and is about just as easy to kill when using stardust and you also have the chance to get the pink tail. Just be sure Cecil has the crystal armor equiped, and it would be a good idea to have him defend as soon as possible too.

Also, a good strategy is to head into the Save spot in the Antlion's den with 25-30 Sirens. Save on the save point, go to the little room where they appear 100% of the time with a Siren and if you don't get one after 25 tries, reset the game and try again. You'll save tons of Gil.

Just FYI, but if you go into that little room on the right, the one with the treasure chest on B2, every time that you use a Siren, you will only face (4) Yellow Jellies.

i just went to the flan princess with cecil with the crystal shield that nulls berserk. I used a lunar curtain to null physical attacks and i had the draw attacks ability on cecil. When i used one of those monster alert things, it was a surprise attack on them and did the above while they took nothing from me. Kept hitting him until they died. After about 5 of those alert item thingys, they dropped it pretty quickly.

YES!! I finally got the Rainbow Pudding. It didn't take that long compared to most people but it did take a while. I didn't have Treasure Hunt so I killed Flan Princesses. I used up about 70 Sirens but it was only 10 because I reset every 20.

That's a good question. Do you remember the rabbit that you met at the beginning of the game who unsuccessfully tried to change Cecil's name? That was the beginning of the Namingway Sidequest. After you talk to him, he will move to another location. The point is to find and talk to him at every location. It seems pointless, but for completing it, you get the Safe Travel Augment which lets you avoid all random encounters.
