Great now we have the federal govt. investigating sports figures. What has happened to this country. Think about it. The US. states federal police are investigating citizens who engage in sporting events. We need true liberty and must follow the United States Constitution. If not we are doomed.
Cycling has a standard that determines whether you're a doper: that's a doping test. If mediocre cyclists can steal the glory and money from better riders by doping and not getting caught, then doping becomes almost a necessity. I wouldn't blame Armstrong one bit if he indeed was doping. It would be the most understandable act a great cyclists like him could undertake. I would be more upset if lesser cyclists stole his glory and achievements because he decided not to dope.
@kalijasin DMT is naturally occurring in the human body too, but it is most definitely a drug as well when used in an artificial manner... Look up the definition of drug. Exogenous EPO is 100% a drug.
@kalijasin You are way off... Any substance, naturally-occurring or not, that alters the functions of the body is a drug. Artificial EPO was invented in the late 80's and you just inject it under your skin. That is what Lance supposedly used. Not blood from his own body taken at an earlier time, but pharmaceutical EPO created in a lab to treat anemia.
@digiprez77 we are not talking about substances, naturally occurring or other wise, that alter normal body function. We are talking about blood doping in its original form which is the harvesting of rbc that are transfused back. Only the RBcs are involved in that process and cells are not drugs.
They test for epo now. They did not, however, test for it when lance started racing. They did not even know about epo doping in athletics way back then. It was still a relatively new way of cheating.
What is the jerk sitting alongside the newsanchor up to? It's many more then Hincapie who knows that Lance has taken drugs...Among those Hamilton, who probably knows that he should have admitted this earlier...
Pretty obvious that ALL of the cyclists were doping, and probably still are... At least the ones who win big races. It is part of the game. The doping experts are always one step (or more) ahead of the testers. If we gave all the money we waste doing these investigations to the testers in the first place they would be able to stay nearly abreast with the dopers. Instead we have a guy who tested clean 100's of times yet we still suspect he cheated. Nobody wins.
@digiprez77 They keep saying he did not fail drug tests. Well duh!! Epo doping is not drug(s). Its a blood booster. Before they had injectable forms it was a simple blood transfusion.
@kalijasin They test for EPO indicators and everything else that they know about... Did I say drug test? I said he tested clean which means they found no drugs and no significant irregularities in any of his blood profiles or anything like that.
@kalijasin I am not confused, EPO is considered a drug (an ESA) when used as a performance enhancer. When EPO from outside the body is present in a subject it creates different protein markers in the blood, which is what they test for now. Lance was tested for EPO use many times and always passed, but like I said before, the science of cheating is always a few years ahead of the testing.
We train hard enough hahaha, I was with on a ride with some Cat 1-2 and UCI riders, admittedly I drafted behind the Moroccan national track champion, and skipped the hill and looped around to meet them, but hey everyone starts somewhere
East Germany ruined amateur sports forever. I remember watching their athletes in the 1976 Olympic games in Montreal and the women did not look like women anymore. Especially the swimmers. Afterward, the Americans and Russians just jumped into the use of performance enhancing drugs and since then it never stopped. Now almost every country are trying to win using these drugs and especially creating new ones that cannot be detected. I don't believe there is not many REAL clean athletes left.

The "Lance-is-my-Hero" type of comments are posted by fans known as Crotch Sniffers. They are deliberately naive about both Armstrong.
Lance Armstrong is - to quote Paul Kimmage - a cancer to Pro-cycling.
Whould you trust a guy who paid his fans cash to cheer him on along the roads of the TdF ?
Google, "Armstrong’s PR Machine"
The man is a waste of human sperm.
Read these books:
From Lance to Landis (Walsh),
A Dog in a Hat (Parkin),
The Crooked Path to Victory (Woodland),
Rough Ride (Kimmage)

If you think a cell is a drug then you are very uneducated.

@kalijasin You clearly know nothing about about basic human physiology.

EPO is a mis-used term anyway. In traditional blood doping erythropoietin is not even part of the doping only the rbcs are.
kalijasin 9 months ago
Erythropoietin (EPO). EPO is a naturally-occurring hormone growth factor that stimulates the formation of RBCs. EPO is not no Drug!

@digiprez77 red blood cells are not a drug.

@digiprez77 in epo doping they transfuse back the donors own blood cells. There is no drug involved; at least, not by your definition.

@digiprez77 they way you define a drug is ambiguous because by your definition anything could be a drug, even the oxygen we breath in.

@digiprez77 you are confusing epo with drugs like steroids, growth hormones, etc. Epo is not a drug. Its blood boosting without the use of drugs.

@digiprez77 Yep. How do you go from near last place to the top 10 as some cyclist did within less than 2 years without the cyclist doping?

Why would George Hincapie lie?
Why doesn't Lance sue his accusers and put an end to the whole thing?
Sammy Sossa never failed a drug test.
If you're a Cat 1 cyclist you know this is as dirty a sport as body building.
