I think the 2012 prophecy could be a far bigger problem than people envisage. There have always been these doomsday prophesys but now because of the internet this one is far larger reaching than all the others. The problem being that these can become self-fulfilling for the people involved. In my lifetime I can think of Heavens Gate, and worst of all Jonestown (doomsday cult - 909 dead). There will be some that want to make sure the world does end for large numbers of innocent people.

I think the 2012 prophecy could be a far bigger problem than people envisage. There have always been these doomsday prophesys but now because of the internet this one is far larger reaching than all the others. The problem being that these can become self-fulfilling for the people involved. In my lifetime I can think of Heavens Gate, and worst of all Jonestown (doomsday cult - 909 dead). There will be some that want to make sure the world does end for large numbers of innocent people.

@disi4h3 no he's discounting the long count because its not based on actual measurements of time (i.e 365.25 days for the earth to go around the sun 24 hours for it to revolve on its own axis). modern calendars are based on cosmic observations that can be, and have been, proven (a year is a constant as is a day) whereas the long count is just some people saying we've got 20 fingers and toes so the universe must be based around the number 20
