I have never been Here I have always been to Kings Island It is bull that Cedar closed this place down I was going to go the 2008 season and then boom were closed son of a bi***!
As a former employee here, I think I saw people at their lowest. The worst were husbands and fathers abusing their wives and kids. Battered mothers would bring their kids here to distract them and get their purses ripped off. It was a real low point in my employment. I became a sex industry worker in a near-bankrupt NYC later and that was a vast improvement. Getting hit on by my boss here was horrid. Lecoco was this dreadful, scary guy who ogled us females and demanded we buy new shoes.

Why did this place close? Also, why the hell did they not install a new coaster for that long period of time before closing, surely they couldve made enough revenue to build something new.
I urge anyone who loved this park as much as I did to NOT look at Geauga Lake in Google Earth... it will break your heart. Nothing left now but a few abandoned run-down buildings, a drained, wrecked Grizzly Run, and some concrete footers where a 119 year old park once stood.
Someone jumped the fence back in June 2010 and took pictures. The Wolf Bobs is in really bad shape, part of the lift hill is destroyed, and the station has been ripped apart.
@robophreeq When I looked at it I changed it to the back in time mode viewer on google eath. You can still see the park in satelite view, but it is still very sad...
i was just there last week takin pics...big dipper is still up and most of raging wolf bobs...it's so sad to think i spent most of my childhood there and now it's just a wasteland of unused pepsi machines, cement ride stabalizers and abandoned buildings ='(
This is painful to watch. In all honesty and in my opinion this was a WAY better park the Cedar Point. They were both good but I just really hate Cedar Fair for closing it. I mean when I heard it was gone I felt another part of my childhood die.
RIP Geauga Lake Blackdragon52k i totaly agree wit u

You also have to look at the area it was in. Cedar Point is in northwest Ohio, King's Island is in southwestern Ohio, Kennywood near Pittsburg, PA and there's the two smaller parks in northeastern PA called Conneaut Lake Park south of Erie and Waldameer Park in Erie. All that made for a pretty competitive market. Still sad to see GL go as it was on my list of parks to visit as I've never been there. I just hope they're able to save the Big Dipper and Raging Wolfbobs.
nooooo.. that is soooo not the X-Flight. my guess is that it wasnt safe. when i went to GL one day, i was looking at them taking it down. that was about a year b4 the park itself closed. so sad that it hadta close. im alll cedar point now.
yah like deathmatter said I live fight by kings island in mason and they put it there painted it red and painted the cars new and turned it in to firehawk
I wish I went here. I remember going to sea world a year or to before six flags bought sea world. I remember looking across the lake and wanting to go.
So many awesome memories.

@eileenabis It was Six Flags from 2000-2004. In 2004 Cedar Fair purchased it and closed it in 2007.

Because it was cloudy in the morning when I took it. Plus it was taken with an old camera that I forgot to change the settings on.
