Beautiful pictures of their day, the painters did their best. It also illustrates the class system at work, all these changes affected the economy and peasants.
mary was attractive during her days before queen but political/religious turmoil during her reign took a huge toll on her health and her beauty faded away. She also had been battling depression / hysteria for a long time due to her troubled youth. This is unlike elizabeth who may have had a relatively stable life for she lost her mother at 2.75 yrs and didnt remember much of her and lived with loyal friends at her countryhome. Most of her stress came later in life and overcame it all gracefully.
I love this history.........amazing stuff, but I just cannot believe how, Uh....."homely" the pictures are. It's a wonder anyone had sex back then. Did all of them have beady eyes and small lips? lol
I wouldn't cry over Queen Elizabeth, its a bit silly in my opinion. I'm not very fond of the portraits in which the Tudors were painted, they weren't flattering or attractive though they were claimed to be handsome. Perhaps they were different looking during their time, it isn't flattering now however.
I am glad that you enjoy my video. I dont think that we should be sad for HM Quenn Elizabeth, she lived a wonderful life. We can lean many wonderful things about her and life lessons. There is a wonderful book that will teach you how to be a great leader, by following examples of how HM led her life. It is called "Elizabeth I CEO" you may want to check it out. :)
wow - a powerful flick you've made there. The pictures of Edward were particually poignant - as was the one of Elizabeth looking very sad towards the end (one I have never seen before!). Very well done.
Thank you very much for your comment. I feel like Elizabeth just seems to be waiting for death to come for her in that picture. It is very sad and yet so peaceful, dont you think?
Yes I do think that. Towards the end of her life, she also MUST have thought about the mother she lost so very young. We all reflect as we get older on the things what have happened to us and on the people that have touched our lives. Elizabeth would have been no different. That particular painting shows reflection - and yes, I tinge of sadness that I think may be reserved for her mother (who is often the closest person to any of us)
I love it, its amazing! but theres one thing either some of Elizabeths portraits were Mary queen of scots, or as everyone knows they just look very alike as they are cousins!
That ring is gorgeous!

@juliie007 Elizabeth was always in fear for her life, I don't think she had an easier earlier life than Mary?
