A person of taste would not buy this with the aluminum-painted hood, and they might drive with the ornament concealed. The point being not be to show off, but to enjoy the unique comfort and quality. Yes, some will buy because they want a Rolls but can't afford the Phantom. Others, though, want what is unique about RR, but without the show and largesse. Unfortunately, this car still makes an old-fashioned show -- especially with the two-tone hood plus flying lady, and the upright wheel logos.

This Ghost is a better car for day-to-day driving than other Rolls Royces; it is less about show and more about private pleasure. Less attention, less bling, means a more private, relaxing experience for the fortunate owner.

@painpopping Ghost is a more understated, nimble car, not a lesser model; buyers who can afford anything will choose this if it satisfies their preferences. Similarly, the Boxster is a more sporting, better-handling car than the 911; many knowledgeable drivers who can afford any Porsche drive Boxsters because they are actually superior sports cars. Porsche only keeps making the rear-engined 911 and charging more for it because they can sell so many to idiot traditionalists.

@painpopping Clarkson can be an ass, and who says he is the final judge on a car? His comments are intended for his middle-class audience. The Phantom is a gigantic, ugly show compared to the Ghost. Some wealthy people would love to drive a Rolls, but they are looking for something less showy than the Phantom, and more maneuverable. The Ghost is more like a normal car. I still think it is too showy for most of us, who prefer not to show off. So, Rolls is still not a tasteful option.

These BMW Rolls Royces are brilliant cars but are lacking ( in my opinion) the brand RR specialness. But, at the end of the day we should all say thankyou to BMW for keeping RR cars alive. Because Rolls Royce plc. are certainly not interested - and they haven't been since the beginning of the 1970's. But, and I'll say it again - brilliant cars these BMW RRs.
