  • isnt he using svts now?

  • too bad that bass got jacked. saw him play it in 2000 w/ j and fog before all the stickerage. 10 seconds into the song he adjusted the mic and down it went head first!

  • Dude he is playing a Gibson EB3 . I played one for two years and dumped it for a cheap Ibanez which is way better. Check into the Schecter Diamond series for excellent bass at reasonable price

  • What bass does Mike Watt play ?

  • looks like a vintage Gibson eb-3 or similar. Maybe eb-0. Short scale.

The original neck humbucker is gone, and two thunderbird-style pickups installed. Make unknown.

And the bridge is a Badass, I think.

    great sound!!

  • it an EB-3 and the pups are actually Bartolini soapbars, tor thunderbirds of any kind, but it does sound awesome!

  • That bass is the sadly now MIA Little Bass. It's a mid 60's Gibson EB-3 much modified with:

    Mudbucker ripped out

Lane Poor humbucker in the middle

    Bartolini humbucker at the bridge

    Aguilar pre amp

    Schaller 3D bridge

    Lots of mojo

Some lowlife stole this bass along with the rest of the Stooges gear in Canada last year. A couple of generous guys donated their EB-3's to Watt to replace it. Good people.

  • that dude fried his brains

  • Ahh a touch of Born on the Bayou at 2:05 awesome. Much respect Mike Watt!

  • man, he is high as shit.

  • Actually, no he's not. He'd just woken up about twenty minutes before we shot the video, after having slept about three hours. You'd look fried, too, I expect.

  • it's called wake and bake and i am fried all the time.

  • LOL... Yeah, I've heard the phrase a time or two. :-) But, I can also tell you that wasn't the case that day. Baking came later...

  • It says that the cabs are two 8x10, but they look to me like FOUR 4x10's... not that they sound bad, they dont. Actually, the sound quite excellent, like all things Eden!

I've got an tone monster rig myself, Eden based of course!... a '91 Alembic Spoiler through line 6 Bass POD XT Live effects, a GK 800RB running bi-amp powering an Eden D118XL on the bottom end, and a D210XLT on the top end. Small, compact rig that shakes floors, rattles fillings, and makes the girls giggle!

  • It's two Eden 810RP cabs stacked sideways on top of each other.

  • The D118XL is like thunder. massive bass. I run an Ashdown Klystron500 through one. shakes the house.

  • The thing I like about the D118XL the most is I get as much or near the depth and bottom, some times EVEN MORE of an 8x10 cab, in a 76lb- 2 foot square box I can pick up and load in the back of my van, with no help. They never say it, cause they're nice and all, but drummers/bandmates actually dont like having us bassists ask them "for help to load my refrigerator-sized cabs" in my truck... they just smile...(this time)....then make themselves real scarce nexy gig's load out !!

  • is that eb bass full scale or med frets or what?

  • gibson eb-3 short scale
