If I am posting this to-day is because I hope, that if one day you encountered such dramatical situation while diving with friends, that you must be well trained for emergency situation you could encounter for your appropriate dangerous sports or activities.
To-day the mis-drowned or saved diver is a Pilot instructor. he stop diving.
two other divers as well as the doctor with the FA instructor still free dives regularly in deep waters. The FA Instr.
dead or already saved patient. the F.A Instr ordered him to do the A.R as he would do the Cardiac compression. several minutes later no positive result were observed and the doctor try to hold the FA Instr. hands after taking the pulse and listen to any heart beats of the drowned man, the FA instr insisted again and screaming God to help towards the blue sunny sky. within 2 minutes later a slight coughing noise was heard, the doctor rush back to help. with tears and crying all 4 friends in deep
guy, his skin turned into dark blue, the fingers and hands were hard like a dead man, scum of blood coming out of his mouth when pulling him on board. most understood that he was dead but the First Aid instructor didn't accept the fact wirthout trying CPR. he was first stop by the doctor but the determination and screaming for help to continue, the doctor asked what to do? as he is a medical specialist and never handle emergency patient in this situation, they usually brought to him already
they discovered his google was very suspiciously dark( water was crystal clear on that sunny day)they understood that he was drowned and lying on the bottom, they had to react quickly to recover his body as the sea movement could drift him to much deeper bottom.they manage to bring the body on the surface and calling for help three divers were already on the boat. one of the diver was a doctor and one was a First Aid Instructor. The body was already in a morbid state. though he was a white blond
Year 2001:a group of 6 free divers were on a diving sight seeing trip in deep bluewaters, about 20 kms off the main land knowing a spot where there are some peak that comes up to - 30 mts to -20 mts from the bottom lying at -75 to - 100 mts.to cut short: for some reasons one of the diver was out of sight, about + - 20 minutes two divers found him look like in a position of lying calmly in apnea on his belly at a depth of 30 mts.while watching him the water movement turn him facing the surface
Just finished reading The Dive by Pippin Ferreras Her husband. I think that he is guilty to a degree but did not think he intentionally sabotaged the Dive. I think he has a big Ego and his recklessness lead to her Demise. What a truely Inspirational Woman this world is poorer for her loss.
pipin didnt intentially kill her. sure he pushed himself and his wife to break records, but they both knew they were risking their lives. As he said in the book they all worked as a team he thought someone had already checked the tank and that it was full. He didnt force audrey to do this, this was something she wanted to do. It is very sad that she passed away. she was an incredible diver.
I remember this story in times, and people magazine it was very sad. I literally cried she was an amazing human being there is definately more to the story of her life death. With much admiration for Audrey.
very sad story, I feel for all the people that knew her & loved her, especially her husband Pipin... The poor man will never forget the tragic day & will always have to relive the events with no closure ...

@cchanderson What ronnt said is basically true. If you are going to put your life to the test, you risk losing it. This was a stupid, STUPID thing to do in the interest of breaking a record, and very selfish when you consider the loved ones she left behind.
What a collossal f**k up.......putting aside how it happened I am bewildered as to why she wasnt given oxygen instead of being passed from person to person and then taken ashore with no treatment. Terrible. her 'safety crew' should hang their heads in shame
Apparently the sled's air tank did not work properly, and she got left at the depth.
There are two books about her, and James Cameron is planning a movie about her life and death. Anyone who wants to see a movie about free diving should check out "the big blue" by Luc Basson
I afraid she did passed away. She dared attempt a dive to 171 meters but at the bottom a problem developed with the lift balloon as she started her ascent. Her husband and her team tried to relieve her but it was too late.
I guess all divers should learn from Audrey's passing.
Sorry not finish, without paying a tribute to Audrey Mestre.
And sorry that her Crew didn't had the chance we had.

THE F.A INSTRUCTOR IS ME.
1/ The diver was saved thanks to the ability of the other two divers have been able to bring back the body to the surface.
2/ luckily he was not wearing any Wet suit as he could have remain on the surface for a much longer time without anyone suspecting something wrong.
3/This accident occured in salt water ( learn the different type of suffocation or drowning in different Type of liquid.)
4/ I also believe that God help us.

@grandbleu69 the tank didn't not not work properly.... it was empty. As in it wasn't filled before the dive.
