  • the pilot puts the plane on a certain speed on final approach so the engine has to keep that speed given until touch down

  • yea, he was playing with the power alot too, this is my dream job man!

  • About 80% of the time, the 717 is in what you call Autothrottle. So it most likely wasn't the pilot who was making all of the power adjustments. The pilots put in a speed that they need the plane to hold and the plane does just that and if there is wind or something like that, then the plane adjusts accordingly.

  • The autothrottles in the 717 are very sensitive so it is always chasing the speed. That's why the power sounds like it is constantly being tossed back and forth.
