  • Man, that is Crazy!

My son's Charger had the hood come flying open at about 40mph, we were very lucky that it didn't bend the mint steel hump hood at all :)

(Forgot the hood pins, and the latch was removed)

  • Where the Hood,Where the Hood,Where the Hood at?!

    :D

    Piosenka:DMX:Where the Hood at.

    Song:DMX:Where the Hood at.

  • 12.6 Nice time!

  • Holy Shminoly!!! man, I hope that wasn't a bulge hood!

  • was that car auto or stick?

  • Below V hell yeah!!!! Island dragway!!!!!

  • sweet ride.

    love me some chargers.

  • i thought it would run better than a 12, still a beastly fucker tho.

  • must have been fiberglass unless you had about 4 guys and a 6 pack to pick it up haha thats what it took to get the hood back on my 74 damn garage door springs on the hindges haha nice car

  • That was an expensive piece of metal that just took flight.

  • Classic!

  • I'm taking it you weren't running any hood pins?

  • no - it snapped the pins clean off! - see previous comments and info

  • @Meph7447 cuzz hood pins make the car look stupid

  • @GoblinOfGanja And that's why we have ricers who think things are flashy when they offer no extra benefit to the cars performance. Hood pins are a must on certain cars which delivers an outstanding amount of power/speed.

    Also they look great :D

  • LOL. the hood couldn't handle the power of that engine.

  • @Lui4SS It was actually because he was accelerating so fast.

  • 0:58 LOL the hood just kept flying, and flying, and flying, and almost hit the other car LOL 1:00 and still didn't want to land, but just kept going. And I wonder if it ever landed or if it got caught in some trees?

  • It did land on the track (you can barely see it in the video). When it finally settled down we were well past the point where it had flown off. One of the track crew was able to grab it off the dragstrip and return it to me by the time we made the loop back to the timing shack.

  • I think I know why it blew off. He was haulin too much ass!

  • damn haha. sounds amazing though. once my dads gas cap came off while racing he lost about a half a tank ahaha.

  • god damn

  • thats a beutiful car

  • and its AMERICAN muscle u fag

  • lolz

  • Got Damn! look at that hood fly lol

  • Forgive me, but I started to laugh when that happened. It sucks, but sometimes you just have to laugh at things to make them a little less "hurtful". I would even have laughed if it would have happened to me. lol

  • though its proly just a fiberglass hood

  • That thing got some MAJOR air lol

  • why cant i see the video

energetic fun smart and loves this video Nk

  • i seen that happen to a camaro on the freeway

  • happen to one of our cars once.

nothing like racing the rest of the season with a primered hood LOL..

    nice car..

  • Wheeeeeeeeeeee!

  • Did it come off clean, or did it break your windhsield?

  • lifted up clean like an airplane wing - was pretty freaky to see it just take off!

  • i've seen that happen a couple of times, a few deck lids too

  • That was not what we planned to do on that run. This 1971 Dodge Charger has a 400 horsepower 340 cubic inch engine, a 9-inch converter that stalls at 4300 rpm, a 3-speed Torqueflite manually shifted transmission, shifting at 6400 rpm, 4.88:1 rear gears, 11 x 30 inch rear tires, and I drag race it in quarter-mile E.T. competition every Saturday at about 12.4 seconds and 110 mph. Apparently the hood pins suffered a stress fracture after hundreds of quarter-mile runs. Any questions?

  • you know... if i didnt know any better i'd say you might like cars. Just a little

  • why yes kickin that much ass on the track aparently caused some bad carma.

  • @bcooke1234 Yes got one more question, is it faster now without the weight of the hood, and by the way my 73 charger is gettn double checked when the sun comes up lol lol 8-D

  • 106 mph isn't that fast...That hood must not have been properly secured.

  • @shredninja Show me a video of any car thats yours turning an over 100 mph quarter mile, isnt that fast my ass!!!!!! Build one, shooow meee!!!! just saying, ive raced many of my chargers, trucks, fords, chevies, and a hundred has always been a goal, thats a working mans weekend fun car, probly not his living, Curt

  • what kind of engine? 318 or 440 i bet its 440

  • HA!!

  • 318 ?? or 440 ?? bad ass car man

  • that was coooooooooooool

  • I have some hood pins new in the package, oh wait a minute, I also have a car like that...lol

  • it would rune alittle better without the hood so it can suck up more air

  • legalllll

  • Hey uh, i've got some hood pins on my '64 polara, want 'em?

  • Trees look kind of bare. Wonder where this was filmed.

  • island dragway new jersey (NHRA)

  • I feel your pain, I had this happen doing 106mph at a track in Australia. All steel bonnet stayed attached at the factory hinges and just caved the roof in. I think I ended up with more damamge with a less spectacular incident! Shame I did not get it on video but plenty of photo's of the damage!

  • wow so how did your windshield look after that.

  • The hood flew off cleanly, missing the car and windshield as it lifted up like an airplane wing. The only damages were the broken pins and scratches on the hood from hitting the pavement when it landed.

  • well thats good I figured it bounced off the windshield or somethin.

  • Must have been one hell of a run :)

    Mopar or no car

  • thanks for the clip man that hood sure got some air! 71 charger's are the best

  • lol,...you probably lowered your e.t at the end of that run...

  • Actually, the pins were attached properly and the detached ones stayed that way. After many years and hundreds of runs three of the six pins broke off cleanly at the base, probably due to long-term fatigue.

  • now that hood just popped off now didn't it.

  • Sick! Thanks for the clip. :)
