Second I have found great results with a German aircraft carrier for 16 and the rest go tword infanty which when they met the frontline would be met by tanks from the rear!
Third Great Britain would use their 2 fighters and bomer tword your naval units in seazone 5 but the move on the Battleship in seazone 13 was good but the fighters should land BACK IN GERMANY to go onto your carrier!!!!

Five tech rolls!? Germany is being faced with threats on all sides. He has America/Uk's navy that are both going to be coming soon. He has Africa which is a good goal for quick expansion etc and he has tons of potential targets. If anything, I think the Axis should go for a Cruiser (12) and a transport (7) and buy 7 infantry with the rest. The Germans need to go wipe out the Uk's fleet as much as possible to delay their attacks. The rest of the things should focus on Africa and Russia.
There is no need to buy advanced weaponary rolls until you overrun russia. Buy 8 tanks and buy tanks every time until the british and americans threaten to land in the west. Then you buy a bunch of infantry to hold the lines.
I would buy 8 tanks with Germany and focus on getting Russia out of the war as quick as possible. Plus tech roles should not be purchased by Germany until Russia is defeated or close to.
You take all available aircraft (assuming you play with suicide runs) and attack the UK with them. Then you unload the transport from the Baltic Sea into the UK
@skinflutey i like rockets as a tech roll for germany early, since they are in such close proximity to enemy IC's. If you get rockets than you are indirectly taking enemy units off the battlefield, and since the nazi's have the early advantage (ipc and starting units) this helps to maximize it.

why not just blitz the two open Russian country's, use your battleship and sub along side with the fighter to attack the battle ship, load then unload an armor and an infantry into Anglo-Egypt. BAM you have a complete offense with an open blitzing road for UK's territory. this guy good ideas but not using the armor to its full potential.

When I played it once, Russia took over 4 German territories but Germany still manage to have a bigger victory in the end. My strategy for Germany is that you need to break out fast. Anyone aware of ANY possibitlity of a CD version of this game? I am NOT referring to the Atari A&A which I have no success with in my computer. I really liked the old A&A cd game. It seems that after the 1.3.3 patch, it was abandoned my Hasbro. Avalon Hill, I believe, owns the rights now and I would really love it if they came out with a better, updated, computer version.

But the German Strategic buying 05 dices is not the best... The best estrategic con German is buy 04 arm and 04 inf and 01 fighter. I think this is a pretty sound strategy except that gernaby is open to invasion and moving the fleet inbetween is a waste. i would also invade the cacusus because it inst that well defended and russia has really no troops left
once you build up your infantry for the first two turns, discretely picking away at russia's front and sneaking into europe, then you can start buying a bomber hear in there, peppered in with fighters and tanks. Using a lot of infantry while you attack is a great strategy because it absorbs the hits for your higher IPC parts such as tanks and fighters which both attack at a 3.
the attacking strategies are sound...however the purchases are a little sketch for this early in the game..no matter what kind of player you are (beg. to adv.) fortifying your front lines as Germany is crucial to extend the longevity of your game. You will notice that by purchasing 8 infantry on your first turn as Germany will not only extend your game, but significantly increase your offense, supporting the tanks and fighters, using infantry as meat shields.
I think the strategy is fairly sound. I'd choose a little different approach in purchases (not so much into rocket tech), but as for attacks I think those are good ideas. The bomber should go to Southern Europe, BTW.
You can buy research dice for only one development per turn. In the Axis & Allies Operations Manual, on page 9, it says clearly: you can choose only one development each turn.
I don't agree with leaving Germany empty at the end of the turn and placing only the one newly purchased bomber there. The first attack I would make on Germany would be to bring the Bomber over from Great Britain and take out that lone bomber sitting in Germany, especially if Germany got the tech roll on heavies. The odds are heavily favored for Great Britain that she would win that battle. Germany cannot afford to lose precious IPC's like that with the easy loss of her newly purchased bomber.

it was just for that turn. It was impossible for Britain to conquer Germany at the time. Although, as others pointed out, Britian can use their bomber to take out Germany's Bomber on Germany.
I ALWAYS buy tech. I roll for jets first for the sake of historical accuracy (Germans invented the jet). Then I get rockets. I buy as many rolls as it takes to do this. After that, If I still have subs left I roll for super subs. I buy all rolls and spend any etra on 1 inf etc. Germany has plenty of units on the board so ho cares if Russia kills some, you get to roll your dice!
bad idea... if the axis are too ever win you must take as much area as you can immediately you should invite russia to attack you. buying all tanks and a transport is my normal open with germany... too support both africa and the invasion into russia from the baltic... and the tech rule is one tech research per turn not sure what you were doing with 2 for bombers and 3 for rocket... with an opening round like this germany is most certain going to get crushed within three turns!
Bomber and 5 rolls? That's retarded. Buying tech as Axis is a bad idea, especially on the first turn. You are bascially begging the USA to roll for heavies too, and once the USA gets them, its game over for Axis. In general, its both fairer and more fun to play without tech rolls.

Successful Axis strategies are normally focused on destroying Russia and involve buying lots of land units. Good German players usually abstain from buying navy, air or tech until Russia is destroyed.
An interesting strategy however I think that after the 1st or 2nd turn you need a lot of replacement units for the carnage that starts off the first turns of the game. Buying just a bomber is probably a mistake because after your ground forces have suffered casualties Germany is left open to attack. they could just send a fighter to attack the bomber left in Germany.
I would like to disagree with the assumption that the UK fleet could not be attacked, I found that if you attack it with that Submarine in the Atlantic along with the Fighter in Norway and Bomber in Germany you will most likely win with the lose of the Submarine, you can then land the Fighter and Bomber on Norway, this means you have no threat of invasion from Britain this turn and you can focus all you're money on completely killing Russia fast with 8 tanks a turn (beats 8 men a turn...)

I would not agree with the refusal to purchase a single land unit with Germany. They need a constant line of troops marching to the eastern front to hold back the great bear of Russia that is sending 24+ IPC worth of pure land units your way every turn. At the very least, match what Russia spent on troops and then buy a couple of dice if you like to gamble. Better still buy a fighter or ships to deal with the other two countries knocking on your back door.

I think this is a pretty sound strategy except that gernaby is open to invasion and moving the fleet inbetween is a waste. i would also invade the cacusus because it inst that well defended and russia has really no troops left

once you build up your infantry for the first two turns, discretely picking away at russia's front and sneaking into europe, then you can start buying a bomber hear in there, peppered in with fighters and tanks. Using a lot of infantry while you attack is a great strategy because it absorbs the hits for your higher IPC parts such as tanks and fighters which both attack at a 3.

the attacking strategies are sound...however the purchases are a little sketch for this early in the game..no matter what kind of player you are (beg. to adv.) fortifying your front lines as Germany is crucial to extend the longevity of your game. You will notice that by purchasing 8 infantry on your first turn as Germany will not only extend your game, but significantly increase your offense, supporting the tanks and fighters, using infantry as meat shields.

I think the strategy is fairly sound. I'd choose a little different approach in purchases (not so much into rocket tech), but as for attacks I think those are good ideas. The bomber should go to Southern Europe, BTW.

You can buy research dice for only one development per turn. In the Axis & Allies Operations Manual, on page 9, it says clearly: you can choose only one development each turn.

I don't agree with leaving Germany empty at the end of the turn and placing only the one newly purchased bomber there. The first attack I would make on Germany would be to bring the Bomber over from Great Britain and take out that lone bomber sitting in Germany, especially if Germany got the tech roll on heavies. The odds are heavily favored for Great Britain that she would win that battle. Germany cannot afford to lose precious IPC's like that with the easy loss of her newly purchased bomber.

With only a bomber defending Germany and no ships in the Baltic Sea, Germany is wide open to a naval invasion from britan. This would casue germany to lose all its savings and not be able to build in germany until the next turn when germany is forced to reconqure its homeland and weaken itself in the russian front. This strategy sucks

The British fleet needs at least two turns from its current position to attack Germany since the adjacent sea zone is three spaces away.

it was just for that turn. It was impossible for Britain to conquer Germany at the time. Although, as others pointed out, Britian can use their bomber to take out Germany's Bomber on Germany.

I ALWAYS buy tech. I roll for jets first for the sake of historical accuracy (Germans invented the jet). Then I get rockets. I buy as many rolls as it takes to do this. After that, If I still have subs left I roll for super subs. I buy all rolls and spend any etra on 1 inf etc. Germany has plenty of units on the board so ho cares if Russia kills some, you get to roll your dice!

bad idea... if the axis are too ever win you must take as much area as you can immediately you should invite russia to attack you. buying all tanks and a transport is my normal open with germany... too support both africa and the invasion into russia from the baltic... and the tech rule is one tech research per turn not sure what you were doing with 2 for bombers and 3 for rocket... with an opening round like this germany is most certain going to get crushed within three turns!

Bomber and 5 rolls? That's retarded. Buying tech as Axis is a bad idea, especially on the first turn. You are bascially begging the USA to roll for heavies too, and once the USA gets them, its game over for Axis. In general, its both fairer and more fun to play without tech rolls.
A good German strategy involves putting as much pressure on Russia as possible, so you need to buy only land units until Russia is destroyed. Don't listen to this guy--his strategies wont work against decent opps

Successful Axis strategies are normally focused on destroying Russia and involve buying lots of land units. Good German players usually abstain from buying navy, air or tech until Russia is destroyed.

An interesting strategy however I think that after the 1st or 2nd turn you need a lot of replacement units for the carnage that starts off the first turns of the game. Buying just a bomber is probably a mistake because after your ground forces have suffered casualties Germany is left open to attack. they could just send a fighter to attack the bomber left in Germany.

I would like to disagree with the assumption that the UK fleet could not be attacked, I found that if you attack it with that Submarine in the Atlantic along with the Fighter in Norway and Bomber in Germany you will most likely win with the lose of the Submarine, you can then land the Fighter and Bomber on Norway, this means you have no threat of invasion from Britain this turn and you can focus all you're money on completely killing Russia fast with 8 tanks a turn (beats 8 men a turn...)

I would not agree with the refusal to purchase a single land unit with Germany. They need a constant line of troops marching to the eastern front to hold back the great bear of Russia that is sending 24+ IPC worth of pure land units your way every turn. At the very least, match what Russia spent on troops and then buy a couple of dice if you like to gamble. Better still buy a fighter or ships to deal with the other two countries knocking on your back door.
