I listened to this song at work everyday & searched the internet to locate the artist. A few months later I learned of Trish's passing. You will be missed, but you live on through your music
I just saw Broadcast in Brisbane in December ... absolutely magical ... only just read the news ... in complete shock, both about what happened and where Trish picked up the H1N1 virus.
Australia has such a tough quarrantine system w.r.t. food and animals, but this flu came into our country with people in 2009.
I simply cannot believe I saw her perform so beautifully 1 month before she passed away.
@IndieKid45 it breaks my heart that i never saw over 10 years of being my second favorite band ( first being ultimate portisihead) .I thought I would see her ...I want to do a tribute show like Elliot smith. Her voice is unmistakable and I hope that she doen't die out. her talent deserves more than that. . did u see her too?
@sophiefrost unfortunately I didn't. I've followed them for a long while, buying all their records and I've seen various other related bands like Stereolab several times but I never caught Broadcast for one reason or another.
i was really sad to hear about trish. I had no excuse not to see them live, I live in Birminham, their home towm where they played regularly. My thinkng was "oh I can see them anytime". Only wish I got to see them perform cuz they became one of my all time fav bands and they are BRUMMIES (proving we aint just about Ozzy and Duran Duran) ;-)
@cbkbstudio I envy you, cbkbstudio, I've never even heard of Broadcast until a week ago. Now, I wallow in self-pity, & drink French brandy. They are a lot like Stereolab. I hope this Trish is resting in peace!
Very sad news; I discovered this beautiful song on "The L Word" and it quickly became a special one for my love and me. I then checked out Trish and Broadcast, who amazingly I had never heard of before (I live in the US). Another talented person gone too soon :(
Possibly the most beautiful Broadcast song of all - exquisite melody and harmony - Bob Stanley of St Etienne, in his wonderful tribute, said she had the purest voice of her generation - he was right.
so sad! message from home, lights out, c'mon lets go, ominous cloud are my favorite "melodies". great songwriter/ sound-crafter. already sorely missed. lesson learned - appreciate the musicians that are around, maybe pay less attention to things past (which in this day and age happened only twenty, twenty-five years ago?). less nostalgia... as francis picabia said "everything for today, nothing for yesterday, nothing for tomorrow."
@foilseal Colour me in, Come on let's go, Winter now, The book lovers, Goodbye girls, tears in the typing pool, Man is not a bird, Where youth and laughter go etc. etc.
The L world.... miss you Shane =(

When the mist's a-rising
And the rain is falling
And the wind is blowing cold across the moor
I hear the voice of my darlin'
The girl I loved and lost a year ago...
